It seemed like an incredibly PR statement. He also...still didn't make any speeches.

The Global Health Security Index actually had the US rated as the country best equipped to handle a pandemic. Which makes it all the sadder. https://www.statista.com/chart/20629/ability-to-respond-to-an-epidemic-or-pandemic/

So, Brett Favre is caught up in a welfare fraud scandal. https://ftw.usatoday.com/2020/05/brett-favre-scandal-mississippi?fbclid=IwAR3GB7-Yr8c-yxKuYmFP9zwEQpi6CndqRVZuw2NpTjpP-THlhJMA49L8DPc

Significant risk suddenly appears for the league if all of the best baseball players in the world strike. To be relatively risk free, they need the good players. The players want their slice of the pie.
-
I think his point is that owning a sports franchise is essentially one of the most risk free businesses possible. The league backs you, the city and government subsidizes new stadiums, etc.

I think we have to lock the thread because nothing will top this post.

Mike Flynn is also not related to the coronavirus

We must get Kopech a friend
-
Yeah, Gio + Danks is pretty much the best package by far. Which also makes me feel so, so much better about what we've gotten for Sale, Q, and Eaton so far in Moncada, Eloy, and Gio's careers. Kopech, Lopez, Cease, Running, and Basabe can make it better, but man, it's so easy to strike out.

Reiterating that Caulfield has been A+ in this thread
-
Ok, to make myself more clear, Biden/Reade stuff ends now. That's not relevant to the pandemic.
-
Going back to MLB Trade Rumors Gio Gonzalez, Josh Fields, Lance Broadway, and then I do remember one of Floyd/Danks would have been needed to seal the deal. Maybe Floyd/Danks was in place of Gio, but I remember that was on the table and the Marlins took Miller/Maybin. Gio and Floyd/Danks alone blows it out the water.

Let's pump the breaks on comparing him to a hall of famer. If we're going with Sox comps, I'd take peak Rodon, minus injuries, which is great thing to have. I think Crochet is the best fit for depth and window, but you don't want to draft fit. So ultimately it comes to scouts thinking he'll actually hit a ceiling or not. But I'd love this dude in the system. Also, they could sell White Sox crochet blankets, which would be dope.

Let's get back to discussing coronavirus.
-
Ok, this comparison is wack for reasons Soxfan outlined. I can give a personal example. I work for a large journalism outlet. I make a good enough salary. A Bloomberg PAC came recruiting me - this position would endure even if his campaign suspended. The organization has been around since 2018. Knowing people who have gotten positions within his campaign and PAC, it's an easy $50k (minimum) pay raise. But I decided I'd be happier sticking to journalism. Before the pandemic hit, there was a good chance I was gonna be made a permanent full time employee where I work. Now hiring has been frozen. I've got 5 weeks to get something figured out. I kind of wish I took the money.

This is what I'm trying to figure out. Who the hell guards Shaq? Shaq is feasting and if Draymond or Durant tries to legitimately defend him, they're fouling out.

And now, whistleblower round 2
-
Well, there we go.

Now look at how many the Sixers have: https://www.nba.com/sixers/team/staff-directory Imagine if Dunn, WCJ, and Lauri had been given a proper staff.

I know this is first world problem stuff, but in the likely event that my fiancee and I have to postpone our wedding, I really hope our venue and vendors just let us reschedule vs. eating the roughly $8k in deposits we've already paid.

Meanwhile, who all remembers LIBERATE MICHIGAN?
-
Look man, I get it. My contract was going to be converted to a staff position before this hit. I'll likely lose my job once it ends next month and have to stock up on seizure meds after I lose my healthcare. My fiancee and I will probably have to postpone our wedding, which we've been planning for over a year, and have already poured a lot of money into. Our honeymoon was the first real vacation either of us were going to have had in 9 years. I got a suicidal brother in California flouting social distancing rules because he and his friends don't care. Ironically, he's a germaphobe, so he's still taking precautions, buts it's infuriating. And trust me, I'd really love to get a haircut right now. But I know I'm one of the luckier one's right now if this is honestly all I'm dealing with. But like I said, I get it. b**** and moan about the haircut - if you need to vent about it and don't feel safe on the general board, DM me. I'll listen to you and won't mock you, and I'm sorry for contrasting you with healthcare workers. Just please think about this next time you say younger generations are coddled or soft, etc. as you used to.
-
On one hand, you can't get a haircut. On the other hand, healthcare workers will likely be dealing with PTSD from this for years, if not their entire lives. States that opened up early for haircuts will probably have second spikes, burdening those healthcare workers even more. I don't need to link the story of the doctor who died from suicide.
