    George Floyd Thread

I genuinely wonder how different things would be of police were required to get higher education degrees before attending police academy. Make it a major that involves cross cultural courses.
  2. Dude. The Sox have been spending on drafts since Rodon, which was a year after the the competitive balance rounds got added. If you're going to have a schtick, can you at least update it to the past decade and make it relevant?
  3. Another year, another reason for me to hate the competitive balance rounds.
  4. These protests will result in second spikes. You see a large amount of protestors wearing masks, but not all. This is the ultimate stress test of reopening. The US didn't reopen slowly, it reopened fast. Only Illinois, Connecticut, and New York met CDC requirements to reopen. Hopefully those areas were able to suppress the virus fast enough that they aren't hit as hard.
  5. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29257106/cubs-tom-ricketts-says-most-revenue-goes-right-back-team The Ricketts crying poor is a hysterical look.
  6. I like to imagine you were extremely excited to share this.
  7. Yeah, unfortunately the stay at home protests, early reopenings, and now the Floyd protests will all stack into another spike.
  8. If the A's owners are crying too poor to not pair their rent or minor leaguers (they could if they wanted to), then they're too poor to own a team in a legal monopoly and should be forced to sell.
  9. So far only three states have met CDC guidelines for reopening: Illinois, Connecticut, and New York. https://thehill.com/changing-america/well-being/prevention-cures/499915-only-three-states-have-met-the-white-houses Great job by the governors for exhibiting patience in their handling. Proud of my home state and current state. My dad lives in Arizona now, but still handles some legal cases for Illinois that he has to appear in court for, so I'm glad he'll be safer flying than if things were rushed.
  10. There were also significantly more rounds.
  11. I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and guess Crochet so they can go college pitcher underslot, then go HS in rounds 2-5.
  12. Before anyone continues posting, I advise you to read the coronavirus rules thread regarding political discussion.
  13. 1. If it's not related to the coronavirus at all, it doesn't fly. Biden's VP candidates, investigations into Sec. Pompeo, Biden gaffes, Trump tweets not related to coronavirus, etc. are not coronavirus related. George Floyd is not fair game 2. Anything politicians do concerning coronavirus is fair game. The Biden / Trump mask on Memorial Day story is fair game, legislation discussed is fair game, racial disparities in the handling/impact of coronavirus are fair game. 3. You get one warning, after that a 10-day suspension, then 30-day suspension, then ban. 4. You may appeal to the moderators and admins to justify why something belongs, but following the appeal, the decision is final.
  14. Ok, discussing 9th rounders is way different than discussing 11th overall picks. For a while it looked like the Sox hit the absolute jackpot with Alex Hansen. Dude had 1:1 ceiling in the draft, then cratered. Then he flashed his stuff again, then cratered.
  15. Publicly? How much smoke we talking?
  16. To play Devil's Advocate and, at the risk of falling into White Sox player comparisons, he could be another Quintana (Sox version) or Buehrle (with velocity). Pitchers with profiles of Kelley and Crochet have high bust rates, Detmers less so. We have the ace upside with Giolito, Kopech, Cease, and if he's ever healthy and locked in, Rodon. Lopez has #2 upside. Getting a stabilizing force isn't a bad thing. Note: I'd be happy with any of these three.
  17. Which almost makes me think Bailey is not the pick.
  18. That grand slam. Alexei's rookie year was such a joy to watch.
  19. Because for a brief, fleeting moment I forgot what timeline we were in.
  20. For what it's worth, I wasn't saying this sarcastically. If it's the Black Sox and we need a Midwest team, and if the Central Divisions are going to be merged, make it the team the Black Sox tossed the World Series against.
  21. It becomes a Cubs home game.
