  1. Yet another pitcher compared to Sale. He's left handed and has a slider. When will the obsession end?
  2. I thought that was because Michael was just highly interested in running the Bulls, but didn't really care for the Sox?
  3. I just love everything the owners have done to increase interest in baseball and save the sport the past few years Add a wild card spot Cut 42 minor league teams Shorten the draft Let the Astros off with a slap on the wrist because public judgement will be their true punishment Push back J2 signings Call the World Series trophy a piece of metal Get Congress to pass the "Save America's Pastime Act" to allow them to continue to pay minor leaguers below minimum wage Make hand over fist money while crying poor Have roughly half the league not even try to compete, but instead follow the Astros/Cubs model and tank hard Try to renege on a previously agreed upon deal, thus preventing baseball from being the first sport back while America was crying out for any sense of normalcy and entertainment Pace of play Hi8is addition: $50 parking Bmags addition: Pissing off Trout as he swims upstream, avoids all the flies, and ricochets through the record books across the universe Addition after James' thread: FBI investigation into their Latin American operations Did I miss anything?
  4. The official mouthpiece for MLB is Manfred, who previously said there would 100% be baseball this season. Then backtracked days later. The players have told MLB to just tell them when and where to play under already agreed upon terms and the owners have said only if the players agree to not file a grievance. The owners know that they have negotiated in such bad faith that they're holding the season hostage because they know they'd lose in court.
  5. I don't understand why it couldn't just start in July 2021 as normal.
  6. In case no one posted. Players: Fuck it. Just tell us when to play. Owners: No. You might tattle on us.
  7. Journalists, actually. Some are for high earning journalists ($100k+ at the BIG companies) to prevent cuts (which I haven't heard those people publicly complain about), but they've happened at smaller outlets as well.
  8. The owners could solidify all of their points by simply opening their books.
  9. Neither do I. I also don't trust Manfred.
  10. Playing less games at a prorated amount is way less.
  11. Players: We know were going to make $20, but we'll take $10. Owners: How about $5? Players: No Owners: 50% of $10? Players: No Owners: 50% of $20, but that percentage only comes out of half of the $20. Players: No Owners: Why are you negotiating in bad faith???
  12. Every time the players negotiated fewer games, they negotiated less pay. They started at 114, then 89. Each time that's a paycut for the players, they just want prorated pay for each game. MLB makes hand over fist money, irregardless of fans (see the above link), and KBO getting fans shows just how starved for content people were. Instead, the owners made the exact same offer every single time. They wanted as few as games as possible, or if they wanted more games, to pay the same amount. MLB has a legal monopoly, they strong arm cities into giving them taxpayer funded stadiums, pay minor leaguers poverty wages, and won't even prove that they'll lose money this season. They agreed to a deal with the players and are upset that they have to honor that deal.
  13. Rob Manfred has to lead, he doesn't know how to do that.
  14. https://mlb.nbcsports.com/2019/01/07/a-warning-about-major-league-baseballs-record-revenues/ This article reminded me that if baseball had just taken the players offer of 114 games at the onset, they'd probably have made enough money to not operate at a loss this season and build goodwill towards the future. But instead of not only can the owners not see the forest through the trees, they're just deciding to burn the forest to the ground.
  15. Players also making it clear that they're done negotiating in public.
  16. I forgot Kumar Rocker didn't go in 2018. Good gamble by him.
  17. - Owners don't have to pay minor leaguers, which they long acted is a major expense. Hell, they've cut entire teams. - Owners don't need to do stadium operation costs. - Owners won't open the books - Owners keep proposing the same offer time and time again. They're bad faith negotiators who previously agreed to a deal. They could have possibly made profit if they started sooner, they didn't. This all lies at the feet at the owners.
  18. I know it's just a typo, but now I'm imagining "James Fox won't waive no trade clause for White Sox trade."
  19. Maybe if owners hadn't insisted on paying minor leaguers poverty wages all these years, it'd be easier to listen them to cry poor.
  20. Question: Would any non-Vera or Cespedes J2 prospects enter the Top 30. I'm assuming no, especially with no season, but curious as to your thoughts.
  21. My thought process for Crochet is that hard throwing lefty with a wipeout slider has a decent floor (bullpen) with the Sox, whereas while I'm high on Madrigal, it's a profile so unique that I just need to see against MLB pitching. Crochet will be below Madrigal on the Top 100, but I just feel like the Sox are the perfect home for him.
