  1. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 11:49 PM) I highly doubt we'll be able to extend Moncada/Robert/Rodon below market but the rest of the core I think Hahn will go to great lengths to lock up and control future salaries. '21-'23 is when this projected core is going to get very expensive through Arbitration. If any GM can lock up a core for below market price, it's Genghis Hahn.
  2. I mean, if we're gonna apply modern day grades to old time players, Nellie would have some absurd 70+ rating for his hit tool. His power tool would be low, but goddamn he could hit.

  4. Rex Hudler on Moncada: "He's like the Royals' Raul Mondesi"
  5. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 07:38 PM) Ha... well I guess it's good to aim high. Still lower than deals starting with Kelly
  6. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 07:09 PM) The FO was likely debating if they could sign Rutherford with his love of the yankees and commit that he signed when he was 14 and passed, they viewed collins as the best college bat. Benintendi was their target but was off the board when they picked, nothing you can do about that and Fulmer was rushed through the minors in order to help a dying team. Some are already saying the sox have a historic farm system no one has ever had 10 ranked in the top 100 even if you throw collins and fulmer off Hansen and Dunning should get consideration. Tatis was a mistake hopefully they make less of those going forward, the good news is the latam was able to identify him. Also even the vaunted Astros aren't with out their missteps; Appel over Bryant, Aiken over Rodon and releasing JD Martinez in '14. So again whats the point of this thread? The Astros so thoroughly blew those picks and they were way more obvious decisions than Fulmer/Happ
  7. Yeah, Kelly isn't coming back. Fortunately the Sox have interesting names at catcher. I'd be asking for Perez, Sierra and Ryan Helsley for Avi and Swarzak.
  8. Lmao now Jill Stein is getting investigated by Mueller and spouting off "FAKE NEWS" Jesse Ventura getting his own show on RT.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 02:21 PM) If "half" the prospects make it, the Sox are going to be the best team in the majors in 2020 and 2021. If half the prospects make it, dear f***ing Lord. There will still be people complaining about Fulmer tho
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxwinner @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 06:55 PM) that article fails to realize that for years we didn't focus on the farm system at all and never really kept our higher round picks. Also, the guys at the top of our list who have all failed were only at the top of the list because our farm system was dead last. As one of the voters for the prospect lists, we are all very painfully aware of this. Still no excuse for Simon Castros, Nestor Molinas and Keon Barnums of the world to be the higher end talents in the system.
  11. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 10:43 AM) What the f*** does he think acid washed means? Does he mean bleached...? Cause that's an alkaline.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 22, 2017 -> 10:10 AM) It can't always be infinite rays of sunshine...everyone will get bored thinking we're infallible, which might lead to disappointment. Just seems strange that one guy can be top twenty and the other barely making the list when the latter player has actually been healthy for that entire time, and improving his defense at a premium position. I mean, Lewis hasn't been lighting the world on fire. But now that he's healthy and in has six at bats in High A, we're going to suddenly want him in place of Collins? Tatis has been beat into the ground. Benintendi was gone. As for Happ, Fulmer was the best pitcher in college any many were elated to get him. There's just...no reason to be pining after some of those guys because they either weren't happening or it doesn't make sense.
  13. What's the point of this thread?
  14. Only name I even think about anything remotely like that package for is Mike Trout.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 10:41 PM) He is getting the best medical attention possible in DR. They have a 12 year old specialist who really knows the ins and outs of the old meniscus. It's really important we get him back on the field so we can continue teaching him the finer points of stealing home. That's what you do with a 19 year old for whom you just forked over $55 Million or so. It's a country with hospitals and stuff. Seriously, knock the imperialist attitude off.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 07:59 PM) 13...yikes For his level? No. Contreras had 19 a few years ago and is now the second rated defensive catcher by WAR.
  18. Look, if it gives the guys in the bullpen a rest I'm cool with it.
  19. As someone that detests the BDS movement, this bill is atrocious.
  20. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 01:18 PM) If Machado was a bust the team would never be able to make the necessary signings to win a World Series. It would also likely prohibit extending 2-3 of our prospects who pan out And if he performs like he has in his career, he'd be a veteran leader on a young team.
  21. Holmberg + Swarzak for Clint Frazier.

QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 11:30 AM) Thanks for saying this. I am with you. Know what Delmon Young's bWAR was in a season where he had 46 doubles and 112 RBIs? 1.9. Sub level, by their own explanation. Yeah, sure, call up that interesting 25 year old from AAA and he should manage this! Easy peasy! What a load of s***. Uh, 1.9 isn't sublevel.
  23. Yeah, Flowers was supposed to be average at best behind the plate but the Sox developed him into a good defensive catcher. If Collins has a good OBP, pop and can give us good defense I will take that every single day of the week.
  24. QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 09:44 AM) You bet, "bmags"!!! If he played like Sizemore, before the injuries, we'd all be ecstatic. However, I really doubt that he'll be that good. Look at Grady's 4 years, between ages 22 and 25. He was as a star. If Rutherford becomes that kind of player, the trade was a big win for the Sox. LF - Grady Sizemore CF - Adam Jones RF - Jermaine Dye 3B - Kevin Millar SS - Alexei Ramirez 2B - Robinson Cano 1B - Jim Thome (later career) C. - Mike Napoli DH - Jose Abreu It's gonna happen guys... ... hopefully. Please.
