Oh god no. Even before we had a crowded OF in the minors. God no.
  3. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 03:03 AM) No he wouldn't be. Kid was putting up legendary numbers as a freshman. I have 0 doubts he'll be fantastic next year. His bat is special. Obviously with the sox recent top picks, they don't value the defensive side of the game others do. I'm personally more on the Turang train, but lets not act like Beer isn't a top 5 talent in the country. If Beer shows any development with the glove next year, I don't see how he isn't the top talent in the draft. And if he is the top of the Sox board, take him and go underslot. The Twins just did this with someone who didn't have historic college numbers and were lauded for their draft. Also, lest we forget, Rodon got passed over for two new guys on the block because he had prospect fatigue. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 03:29 AM) Who is the last MLB star to grow up in Wisconsin? Just curious. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=m...itting/2017/ALL Austin Beck hasn't exactly distinguished himself so far, fwi. Royce Lewis, though, has had a strong pro debut for the Twins. Hunter Greene will start out as a DH and potentially reliever for Billings as early as Tuesday. I'm not gonna base who we draft out of their state.
  4. Abreu or Avi as DH (Abreu more likely), Leury as a super-sub a la Zobrist and Omar as the backup catcher.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 09:59 AM) Seems pretty parallel to Matt Davidson who crushed it through the minors and then just splattered into the wall. To be fair, Davidson splattered for like three seasons. QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 10:19 AM) Tito polo out up 16 hrs, 37 sbs, 811 ops as a 21 year old CFer in A and A+ last year. Seems like he has good tools. Any reason he was left off? Depth.
  6. QUOTE (MEANS @ Aug 6, 2017 -> 02:52 PM) The #WhiteSox have claimed infielder D.J. Peterson off waivers from the Seattle Mariners and optioned him to Class AAA Charlotte. Former Top 50 prospect. I like it. Get as many Petersons, Lirianos, Garcias, Hansens, etc. that you can and see if they can reach any of their potential here. Love Hahn's acclimation of buy low potential for pennies.
  7. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 11:24 PM) Well it's basically a done deal - yall will get your wish. But i don't have to like it - particularly the sloppy play in achieving the #1 pick. Seriously, what did you want this team to do? You were against signing free agents. Trading for big names. You screamed hero worship at every poster. What is your wish, other than to be different from everyone else?
  8. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 04:38 PM) I doubt they bring Giolito up. I just don't see a compelling reason. Work with Coop and Shields
  9. QUOTE (Lillian @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 12:31 PM) Yes, of course we have several prospects who may be adequate bottom of the rotation starters. But just think what it would be like to have top of the rotation potential, at every slot. So far, I think Rodon and Kopech are the only two guys, whom I see as #1's. If we end up with too many guys of that caliber, they can be traded or employed as dominant relievers. And, when you factor in injuries and disappointments, we may end up with less than we anticipate. I just think that it's hard to have too much pitching. I think Rodon, Kopech, Hansen and Giolito all have #1 potential (in order of most likely to reach that potential) and Lopez has high #2 upside.
  10. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 11:13 AM) Great list. My two biggest complaints are Gillaspie being too high and not including Delmonico. I get that Gillaspie was a top 100 guy for Baseball America last year, but honestly I'm not sure that was warranted based on the scouting reports I've read. I really think he should be in the low to mid 20's after guys like Burdi, Fulmer, Guerrero, Adolfo, & Basabe. And I think Nicky should be in that range as well. He's a much better athlete than Gillaspie, has the ability to play multiple positions (although poorly at this point), and is actually having a solid season. I probably like Nicky's chances of becoming a regular better than Gillaspie's at this point and he also has the floor of useful bat off the bench. Gillaspie it all depends on whether or not you believe he's a fluke. Delmonico's biggest knock (by far) is his defense. Multiple positions is a misnomer - his play in LF the other night was amazingly awful. QUOTE (KnightsOnMintSt @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 11:13 AM) I would rank Stephens as the No. 2 pitcher behind Kopech. He has been so consistent this year. Would like to see him get a few starts with Charlotte this year. Dylan Cease is a little high for me. I would actually switch Stephens and Cease's rankings. By the time he gets to the White Sox, I would expect Cease to be a bullpen arm, where as I expect Stephens to be in the White Sox rotation in 2019. That's a high sell on Stephens and would have him be Top 60 in baseball. Through no fault of his own, he's behind a crazy amount of arms.
  11. QUOTE (KnightsOnMintSt @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 11:06 AM) Big night for pitchers. Would love to see Giolito have a big night, especially with Acuna and Swanson in the lineup for Gwinnett. Man, we would have been ecstatic with Dansby as a centerpiece for Q or Sale. And he was almost as bad as Anderson this year.
  12. If there are two #1 overall caliber talents that the Sox have tied on their board, I'd like them to differ to college before HS and hitter before pitcher. But if they have a HS pitcher #1 and a college bat #2, go with the #1. Get the most premium talent possible and figure the rest out later.
  13. 11 names are new to the list just since the preseason. This doesn't include people such as Skoug, Yurchak, Dedelow, Johnson, or Yrizarri. The first four made the just missed and MLB Pipeline initially had Yrizzari as #30 in the Sox system when he was acquired.
  14. The full list is here: http://www.chicagonow.com/future-sox/2017/...2017-full-list/ Any names you're surprised didn't make it? Anyone too high or too low? As Matt found out, this was actually the most homogenous list ever amongst voters.
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 12:08 AM) I'm surprised by the relative lack of publicity this comment got. Can you imagine the Republican outrage had Obama said this? The biggest Obama scandals to Republicans were that he ordered dijon mustard and wore a tan suit.
  16. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 01:46 PM) Private prison threatens to close unless the state fills up 300 more beds https://twitter.com/KeeganNYC/status/890541...src=twsrc%5Etfw Abolish all private prisons What the f***
  17. So some crazy s*** happened
  18. So what I saw is basically the scouting report so far - good bat, very rough defense.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 11:08 PM) I would hope Call. He started the season at Winston-Salem and that's where he should finish. Plus Adolfo's K rate is still above 30% and I don't think promoting him will help in that area. What's really going to be interesting is how they address the OF logjam next year. Call, Fisher, Basabe, Rutherford, Adolfo, & arguably Robert & Gonzalez should all start next year in high A. They'll probably ease Robert into full-season ball by sending him to Kannapolis, but that still leaves six potential OFs for W-S and that doesn't even include interesting but fringier guys in Booker & Schnurbusch. They'll probably have to push Fisher and either Call (more likely) or Basabe (less likely) to AA to create enough playing time for everyone. Good problem to have I guess. Birmingham will need help.
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 05:58 PM) UH OH OZZIE'S COMING BACK YOU GUYS Tbh I'm getting to the point that I wish I could combine Ozzie's game calling with Renteria's teaching.
  21. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 03:39 PM) On paper? Yes. Remains to be seen which of these prospects pan out for us. Just the fact that he was able to get the returns he did in what has become a buyer's market.
  22. The winner of the 2017 Trade Market is Rick Hahn
  23. Please, someone explain why the White Sox need a new stadium, what The Cell can't provide to necessitate the change, where the new stadium would be and who is paying for it? While I haven't been to all of the stadiums in major league baseball, the The Cell's concourse level is phenomenal. The upper deck sucks, but whenever I'm at the Cell I'll probably spend two or three innings walking the concourse and enjoying the game from various areas. http://afterburnham.com/armour-field/ I'd love for the above field to be something they'd look at when The Cell actually begins to fall apart - build it on top of the old Comiskey site and try to blend the best aspects of The Cell and Comiskey.
