Who Should Be In The Lineup Next Year?
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 11:20 AM) They all were brought up within the organization within your time frame and made their debuts within your time frame. I don't disagree that the development has been bad but they have had some players I'm also not advocating bringing up Eloy, that is ridiculous Alexei, Abreu both should probably count. Both were immediate impacts, but Alexei was an under the radar steal (I still say he got robbed of a GG and if not for Longoria being an instant star he would have been ROY).

Attendance Thread II
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 07:34 PM) For now? Absolutely. For the long term future of the franchise, new ownership will likely explore building a stadium after the current lease is up. They can privately fund it. If the stadium gets the job done (it does) and has ease of access (does it get any easier?) There is no reason to waste tax dollars on a stadium.

If the Sox build a new stadium it will be a colossal waste of money. The nice party about the Cell's initial cookie cutter interior is that it made it extremely upgradeable.

20 Year Anniversary of the White Flag Trade
QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 10:17 AM) Don't change my message, please. I've never used the word "hate" when it comes to the owner. I have zero personal animosity to the man, as I've never met him. However, this is a White Sox message board, correct? And Jerry Reinsdorf is the owner of the White Sox, correct? And that means decisions he makes as owner have a direct bearing on the team's results and that which we as fans want to support? Well, do the math. Line up the years and years of those decisions with the results on the field, and see what you get. You get criticism of those decisions given the routine losing of the organization. The original poster of this thread brought up one of those decisions from 20 years ago that happened to be a doozy, and so I shared my point of view on that decision. I think I made valid points, but at no time did I inject emotion suggesting personal hatred for the man. I just want him to stop making bad decisions. Sadly, I've been waiting an awful long time for that to happen. How many times have completely different people asked you if Reinsdorf ran over your dog? Either there's actually a Jerry-flattened dog, or you have a legitimate obsession with the man.

Who Should Be In The Lineup Next Year?
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 07:37 PM) Rodon, Giolito, Lopez, a free agent and Shields. Sale, Quintana, Samardzija, Rodon and Frankie Montas will be good enough for the 2015 season! QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 07:42 PM) They came into this season with trash and spun it into gold. I wouldn't worry too much about the pen. They'll find some guys this second half they like. Robertson Putnam Petricka Jones Jennings Duke Albers Our nails 2015 bullpen will also get it done!

Who Should Be In The Lineup Next Year?
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 06:38 PM) The Cubs thought Jimenez was MLB ready this spring. I trust their judgment. Kopech is on a perfect timetable to be a 2018 midseason callup. Scouts said Robert was the best player on the planet, just bring him up now? Kopech is on a timetable for a September 2018 callup and starting on the team in 2019. His arm needs to get used to the workload.

Who Should Be In The Lineup Next Year?
Step 1) Aggressively call up Jimenez, Kopech and others that aren't Moncada, Giolito and Lopez. Step 2) Spend fat stacks on players like Moustakas, Swarzak, and rebuilding the pen. Step 3) Finish probably below .500, risk stunting the growth of players not ready (Fulmer syndrome) and blow all the room in your pocketbook that could have been saved for the 2019 super class.

Who Should Be In The Lineup Next Year?
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 05:42 PM) The So have like 10 top 100 prospects, 3 of which are top 10 caliber, and a top 3 pick in 2018 all but sewn up. There is no way the Astros compiled that kind of talent after one draft. But hey, if you want to run with the Astros comparison...do you think it's worth punting an entire season of baseball to get ourselves a Mark Appel? I think the Sox are less likely to get cute and would have taken Rodon over Aiken. As for Appel, well, Kris Bryant went number two. Is it worth getting him? Or back to back, is it worth punting a season to get...Stephen Strasburg and Bryce Harper?

Chicago White Sox (39-60) vs Cleveland Indians (55-45)
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 12:56 AM) Jesus, 110.1 mph on Moncada's laser beam off the wall. Kid has a really pretty swing from the left side. It's silly but his hip action reminds me a lot of Cano and his follow through a lot of Griffey. I think eventually he might want to give up switch hitting. I love how he works counts too. He's got some Eaton in him that way and will always have a high OBP because of it. You can see why his ceiling is through the roof. His floor is probably like a poor man's Kinsler, but his ceiling is certainly Cano. A good defensive 2B that can slash 290/380/500 and add 10 runs on the bases is a 6-8 WAR player. A superstar. Now think about how some scouts think Eloy could be a better hitter than him. Now imagine those two mashing in the lineup together.

New CBA penalizes teams with higher payroll
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 12:36 PM) Yup. The Cubs traded a guy who is clearly on track to be the #1 overall prospect on baseball for a rotation lefty controlled through their window. When you're trying to win you sell out, never hold back for a future that may never come. For a #1 pitcher*

Moncada being called up
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 12:05 PM) I think he looks pretty good. Can't fault him for his BABIP. Yeah. He seems to keep hitting ropes. But he's working counts, showing power and hauling around the bases. I'll take it for now.

Who Should Be In The Lineup Next Year?
QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 12:17 PM) Yes, I love both of those little guys. I was trying to find a decent defensive third baseman, and another LH bat. You know me. I "loves me" those left handed bats, especially in the middle of the order. Without Melky, they are going to be short a decent bat, from the left side. Moncada would be the only one. Scouting reports go back and forth on whether or not Delmonico is a butcher at third and Yolmer/Leury both have had way more AAA success than Peter has to this point. I've always liked Peter, but if he's a starter he either blew past expectations or something has gone very, very wrong. Asche is a non-factor and is AAAA fodder. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 12:18 PM) Lineup construction isn't going to be a priority next year. Also this. In a perfect scenario, the future will have Moncada, Collins, Rutherford and Sheets/Gillaspie providing balance from the left handed side. But that is well down the road.

Who Should Be In The Lineup Next Year?
My guess at the lineup: C - Omar Narvaez, since all of the catching prospects are in A-ball. 1B - Abreu/Casey Gillaspie 2B - Moncada SS - Anderson 3B - Davidson/Sanchez LF - Leury CF - Engel RF - Avi DH - Abreu/Davidson Oh, boy.

Combined with the new international spending penalties, this is a good thing. They just need to change how the competitive balance picks work.

Reverse Standings Thread
QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 10:42 AM) Yeah I think there are 6 guys that can all be really good. Naturally 3 or 4 of those guys will bust and range from average players to scrubs. Hopefully, we pick the 2 guys that will be stars. And having pick number doesn't guarantee we will make the right choice. They have to be careful not to draft on hype. Pick the 2 guys?
