QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) Jon Morosi @jonmorosi 44s Sources: #Brewers are prepared to buy at Trade Deadline and have begun background work on Jose Quintana, Sonny Gray and other starters. @MLB Brewers are the dark horse I've been waiting for.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 12:28 AM) I guess we can wait and see. But frankly I'm scared. We have a pretty unstable President it appears and kind of a strange duck as president IMO. He's pretty much capable of attacking N Korea at any moment. And we've got china and Russia who do not appear to be very sympathetic toward our position. If China and Russia wind up backing N. Korea on this for whatever reason, I think it's a tense situation. AMERICA WILL NEVER FALL TO COMMUNIST INVASION BETTER DEAD THAN RED DEMOCRACY IS NON-NEGOTIABLE
  3. Why in the world do you despise Holland and Pelfrey?
  4. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 12:46 PM) Their leverage will increase when and if more closers hit the market. The Reds' guy has twice Robertson's value: younger, cheaper, more control, having a better year. And the Sox can add in any of their other arms.
  5. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 10:57 AM) Tatis #22
  6. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 11:27 PM) Seriously? Like, are you for real? Eh, I'll eat crow on that one.
  7. Really hoping Soto headlines a Robertson deal.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 01:32 PM) Is it any wonder that Illinois is where it is? https://www.illinoispolicy.org/illinois-math-in-one-tweet/ Both are technically right if you twist it enough? Hell, this math right here sums up politics.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 04:08 PM) Tatis Jr. is more than two years younger than Adolfo and has the chance to play a premium position (and I'm not an Adolfo hater by any means) 3B is more premium than RF?

    Quintana

I imagine Verlander's contract and asking price only helps the Sox in the Quintana market.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 05:17 PM) To me, it's more that you make a move that makes absolutely no sense and then turn around and completely blow it up a few months later. Did Hahn really think Shields was the missing link last year? Oh it was definitely a bad move and I'm not saying it's above critique. But people that lovery ragging on rebuilding get mad about it and it's hysterical.
  12. I love that people that are vehemently against the rebuild keep pouring 40s on the ground for Tatis. Goes to show its less "I hate rebuilds" and more "I hate any move the front office does."
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 03:20 PM) Why would anybody want Melky or Frazier? Seriously. The relievers everybody's high on will not bring back much. Relievers who are not closers don't bring back much. Who is the Sox projected closer anyway once we deal David? We have to keep somebody so we'll keep Swarzik and Kahnle since they won't bring back anything of note. I don't think Jerry has bought into the losing every game thing has he? ???
  14. Greg, you hurt my heart sometimes.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 02:09 PM) I would assume it's Robertson. The ONLY two on the whole list who will be traded are Quintana and Robertson. That will pretty much assure two more major holes for next season on the team and pretty much guarantee the cellar again. It'll be the buzzkill the Sox need (sarcasm) heading into the offseason. Not trading Swarzak, Melky or Frazier would be idiotic. I voted Swarzak as he should have a good balance if demand/price.
  16. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 09:31 PM) Slightly? Stevens is a great coach. A lineup of Horford/Crowder/George/Hayward/Thomas with Smart dogging off the bench (and if they trade two future firsts and Brown for George they'd have Tatum too) is the biggest competition Lebron had since the 2010 Celtics. I actually like that team to beat the Cavs. 2011 Bulls?
  17. Leury's earned the CF spot until he comes back and shows it was a fluke.
  18. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 06:50 PM) What are you trying to accomplish with this argument? It's okay to think Adolfo is an overrated prospect, but you seem to be arguing that we should just release him immediately. Why? We all understand that he has swing and miss issues. We're hoping that he corrects them around the time he can legally drink. Cause having an OF of Robert and Adolfo reaching their ceilings sounds boring.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 11:20 AM) Further proof as to which party is actually willing to stand up to its leadership, and not just fall into line. If we're implying that's Republicans, it's less that and more adapting to ruling after being united by obstruction. Edited to comply with forum rules.

    zach collins

If Collins were hitting .300 with everything else being the same we'd be talking about a Top 20 prospect. I swear there is no pleasing this board or expectation of patience.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 07:04 PM) I thought Gar said all the players wanted Thibs gone? If I remember the split was Pro-Thibs: Taj (because he's the consummate pro) and Rose Anti-Thibs: Noah, Butler, Pau, Dunleavy
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 12:12 AM) Find a post of mine burying Avi. Find a post of anybody besides El Rockin praising Avi, expressing confidence in Avi, wanting Avi to be our right fielder this season for any reason besides tanking games. Who on this board actually appreciated Avi's potential before spring training 2017? Probably El Rockin. I seem to recall maybe one Avi fan, not sure if it was Mex or Tex or whom. Maybe one. 1) Gonna eat crow. I can only find posts about you saying he looks like a ballplayer but others figured he sucked so you were surprised by how bad he was. 2) Ss2k5 and I have always stood up for his work ethic. Chitownsportsfan adores Avi.
