  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 24, 2017 -> 05:38 PM) Teddy Cahill‏Verified account @tedcahill 30s31 seconds ago Seth Beer lost ~15 pounds this summer as he worked to improve his athleticism and defense. Will be interesting to see his progress this year If Beer even becomes passable defensively there's no way I pass on him
  2. Finally knowing the story makes me want to root for him even more.
  3. QUOTE (Scoots @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 08:26 PM) Jose just missed that one. Somehow Buxton made that look easy.
  4. My god the speed
  5. Crowder and a Brooklyn pick was their holdup for Jimmy supposedly. Would you rather have... IT and Butler/George or just Kyrie
  6. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 08:13 PM) Pegged Dozier pretty good. That looked painful
  7. QUOTE (Blackout Friday @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 05:44 PM) Yeah that's pretty weak. Condor is an awesome nickname. Wow. Talk about a nickname downgrade.
  8. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 09:14 PM) WTF. You're the only one here who tried to somehow connect this to the murder of Heather Heyer. No one else did this. So again, stop justifying someone's violent actions because someone on the other side of the political spectrum did something much worse. It's not the tenuous string of Struth Boston to Heather Heyer. It's the fact that in the video this guy claims he was attacked by "Antifa", but I saw little moaning from some about Charlottesville other than "they're pretty bad people, but the GOP isn't connected" because StrangeSox was trying to connect them. Which he did a little too strong and said as much. Yeah, I gave the same "they're pretty bad people" argument against the Antifa portrayed in this video. They're pretty s***ty people. But at least they didn't kill or maim someone. And if anyone calls the contents of that video an attack, well, we've got a lot to go through before that.
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 08:44 PM) Nope. Anyone defending the scum in that video is 100% wrong. Did you even watch the video? Probably not. I'll stand by what I said previously. It's absolutely pathetic that people here would try to validate violence by saying the guy was "annoying" or because a liberal protestor was run down by a right-wrong psychopath. But whatever, political affiliation is more important than moral behavior to some apparently. And sometimes pretending there's a moral high ground in the middle is more important to people than recognizing that the GOP embraced the Tea Party, let Trump get their nomination from their "deepest bench" (so there goes the "but Hillary" argument), installed Jeff Sessions as AG, installed DeVos as Sec. of Ed, let an oil executive run a massively understaffed State Department and think that the conviction of Joe Arpaio is a political attack. Oh yeah, and stole a Supreme Court seat and gave it to a man who is already making a mockery of the seat he holds. The GOP owns Trump. They own MAGA. They own the goose steppers. The voters? They were conned. But the party itself owns this because they had plenty of shots to stop it.
  10. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 07:47 PM) Good god...the partisanship on this board is sickening. Yeah. And I definitely contribute to it, that's incredibly obvious. But at the same time, here we are with a video that shows how mean Antifa (who didn't exist two weeks ago to a bunch of people now rallying against them) is. They even yelled at the guy (granted, they did seem like pretty s***ty people) and...carry him out? If it was a shove then it was the weakest shove to end all weak shoves. But then he was safely escorted out by polcice. Those violent, violent leftists. And they were 100% in the wrong. But this comes a less than two weeks after showing how people really suck. James Fields running over a crowd of people and murdering Heather Heyer. A group of white supremacists beating Deandre Harris within an inch of his life with metal poles right next to a police station. That doesn't even include the neo-nazis and white nationalists that chant "blood and soil" while marching with tiki torches to protest the removal of a statue of one of the biggest traitors in American history. So to recap - guy gets yelled at and lifted/pushed out of a spot. Woman is killed, others significantly wounded and Nazis are marching and calling for the death of anyone who isn't pure like them. When partisanship means not equating the former with the latter, yeah, I'll be partisan as hell because the latter is a few goosesteps away from Nazi Germany when the President of the United States is somehow unable to condemn them until three days later. Because he wanted the "facts", which he didn't give a s*** about when it came to Barcelona and he started praising hypothetical war crimes while slandering the name Gen. Pershing.
  11. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 04:17 PM) I like what you did there by adding false equivalence to already to stupid logic. Genius! Yup. Many sides.
  12. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 01:08 PM) My God, this is stupid logic. At least no one hit him with a car?
  13. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Aug 20, 2017 -> 10:29 PM) You could make the argument for Kopech, but other than that I'd rather have Tatis Jr. than the lot (aside from Eloy, obviously). We'd kill for Robert to be doing what Tatis Jr. is right now, and Tatis Jr. is a full year younger. According to MLB Pipeline, there are five players above him.
  14. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Aug 20, 2017 -> 07:01 PM) Gonzalez pitched a good game for the win today. This will probably be his last start in a White Sox uniform. I thought we would get at least 2 more starts from him before the August 31 deadline. Now that Lester is on the Cubs DL , I figure Hahn will trade Gonzalez to his life long favorite team the Cubs. Older fans remember when Arnold Johnson owned the Kansas City As he traded numerous of his best players to the Yankees. It went on for years. It helped the Yankees maintain their dynasty in the 1950s and 1960s. I can't help but wonder if we're going to see the same type of situation with the Cubs and Hahn. He recently traded Quintana which should help them the next few years getting into the playoffs. I wouldn't be surprised to see Gonzalez go the Cubs either. QUOTE (Quin @ Aug 20, 2017 -> 12:50 PM) Dude.
  15. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Aug 20, 2017 -> 09:38 AM) The off season starts with Hahn trading Avi Garcia and Abreu for more prospects. This will be done in the name of a rebuild. I see it as more of a salary dump to get this team to have the lowest payroll in MLB. All this translates into more profits for JR. This leaves the team with the following lineup: 1B=Gillaspie, 2B=Moncada, SS=Anderson, 3B=Davidson, LF=L. Garcia, CF=Engle, RF=Delmonico, C=Smith. Starting Rotation Rodon, Shields, Lopez and Holland. (Hahn resigns Holland thinking that he'll have a rebound year) Bullpen= The same group who are in our present bullpen. After Rodon gets off to a good start Hahn will sign him to a contract extension. After the All Star break Hahn will then trade Rodon to the Cubs for more of their prospects. Nobody ever talks about this but Hahn is a life long Cubs fan. He never attended a White Sox game in his life until he started working for them. And finally for a job well done (Last place team with the lowest payroll=enormous profits) JR will reward Hahn with another contract extension, Dude.
  16. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 04:03 PM) Well if he thinks a guy who rebelled against the Nazi's from within Italy in the late-30's is irredeemable I can only imagine how he feels about my relatives who were drafted into the Wehrmacht. And was a blackshirt. And yeah, he didn't like the Nazis but he still was part of Italy during WW2 and only died dude to friendly fire. He wasn't assassinated for standing up to Hitler. Were your relatives honored with a monument?
  17. Jose is the type of guy I can see being productive into his late 30s.
  18. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 03:13 PM) I'm not Italian. Lmao. So it's just false anger in that case. Got it.
  19. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 02:58 PM) I cant even ask you to look at the facts of the man's life. I have family that were on the wrong side of WW2, they did great things after 1945 both here and in Germany to atone for those sins. Your insistence that every one-time fascist is inherently evil and deserves to be disgraced and shamed publicly I take as an attack on family members I know lived great lives. I will not be conversing with you any further. You can stay ignorant and narrow-minded, but I will no longer give you the satisfaction of showing your hatefulness in front of others. My grandfather and great uncle, first generation Italian Americans who lived in Chicago and were wounded while fighting for the US in WW2 detested Balbo and hated that statue with a passion. Stop trying to speak for all of us.
  20. QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 02:34 PM) The President has set the tone And Nazis killing people is pretty bad.
  21. Lmao at Bannon.
  22. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Aug 18, 2017 -> 11:34 AM) So now there's a call to "blow up" Mt Rushmore, rename Balbo Dr. and a Lincoln (!!!) statue was vandalized. Hasn't even been a week and the left has taken almost universal public sympathy and ruined it by going insane with nonsense. Trump won Charlottesville. Bannon was right. Its crazy how the opposition cannot get out of its own way to get the guy out of office. Lincoln was in Chicago, but let's see who did it first. Otherwise - sources? Because the same amount of lunacy on the right actually catches fire and does s*** like run-over people.
  23. Had no idea Matt Bush got into the bigs finally.
  24. QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 08:45 PM) Moncada hr!! I think somebody should eat crow about a certain player that he judged too harshly. Well played Ron. Well played.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 10:44 PM) Link For those who missed it, this description misses some of the details. Herm and Renteria went out to speak to Lopez, Lopez said he was fine, Abreu stayed on the mound with Lopez after Herm and Renteria left, Abreu asked Lopez what was really going on, Lopez told Abreu something was bothering him, and Abreu called Herm and Renteria back to the mound and said pull him. Went back and watched and came away with two things... 1) That was weeeeird. 2) Abreu is a leader.
