  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 09:20 AM) Was nice to hear the sports radio guys here in Seattle this morning saying how sick they already are of the Cubs coverage. Said they've jumped shark. The transition to a run of the mill mega payroll ball club, like the Red Sox, has already begun. Yup. It's funny, but the magic is now gone from them.
  2. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 09:02 AM) Well I think most Americans (even center lefts to medium lefts) probably realize a conservative SCOTUS is safer for the people. That's why Trump will probably win. But I think to your point, in case of a Hillary victory, most people probably want a republican congress to slow any Hillary/Bernie ideas down. For example, those crazies want complete govrnmt control of healthcare. Scary scary scary to those who fight for their dollars. I think you'll see that reflected in the final voting. If by safer, you mean safer for straight white Christians. Everyone else, well, no.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 12:52 AM) What about the suburbs? There have to be some great locations. Lot of cities are in the suburbs. Arlington, Atlanta, etc It's still more accessible.
  4. So, Doctor Strange may be the most visually stunning film ever.
  5. Congratulated 4 friends today - former roommate who still can't believe it, a friend who we mutually agreed to root against the other's team but to be happy for them, my best friend's mom who cried into her mother's handkerchief at the final out and a teammate who I hugged at practice, he teared up because he honestly hadn't expected it from me and it meant the world to him.
  6. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 11:03 PM) It didn't have to be that way. JR's biggest blunder was not building the new stadium in a very accessible and fan friendly location. He's always been about the bottom line above all else and that explains why he has failed to transform the franchise into something better. He's just not capable of seeing the bigger picture when it comes to spending on the team. It is quite possibly in the most accessible location possible.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 09:15 AM) FutureSox had him at 23rd, from the July list. Things only got worse after. Likely he doesn't even make the Top 30 in January, and what little stock is left is all on that big raw power and the extremely slim chance he can use it. Yeah. Very likely he doesn't make the next list.
  8. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 11:23 AM) We still have twice as many championships as they do in the last 100 years. AND the only head-to-head.
  9. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 10:06 AM) Last night, unfortunately for Mr. Reinsdorf, he has now enshrined in his legacy as White Sox owner the assumption of the role of presiding over the "losingest" team in all of baseball. That mantle no longer belongs to the Chicago Cubs. That baton unfortunately was handed over to the Chicago White Sox the moment Rizzo caught that ball to end the game last night. In Reinsdorf's defense, he inherited a ball club that had only four playoff appearances in the club's 80 year history prior to his arrival as owner. But with only 5 playoff appearances in his 36 years as owner, he has presided over continued failure, so much so that the Cubs, despite their miserable history, have managed to accomplish enough in the past decade to surpass the Sox in terms of success. What in all hell? If it no longer belongs to the Cubs, it goes to the Indians. Does 2005 not exist in your memory?
  10. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 10:50 AM) The Sox were never poised for a dynasty run. How quickly things collapsed after 06 is proof of that. I just see the Sox going the route of San Diego or Milwaukee unfortuntely. An irrelevant franchise who is forever stuck in the middle. Great pitching staff entering their primes, shut down closer and a "get it done" offense became elite the following year. They were the favorites for half the year in 2006. Then they fell apart. The Cubs pitching staff can fall apart just as easily. It's baseball.
  11. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 10:27 AM) My real concern is will we ever see another World Series Championship on the South Side of Chicago? It's been 11 years since 05. 11 years can snowball into 30 or 40 very quickly. I have no confidence in the clown college that is currently running the show at 35th and Shields and its tough to see any light at the end of tunnel. Rick Hahn should be forced to wear a dunce hat to the Winter meetings. Dude has been in over his head since day 1. Other thing is that this Cub team isn't going away anytime soon. They have an elite core and will be playing baseball every October for the next 4-5 years. The Sox couldn't even make the playoffs in 06 and were a last place team in 07. Theo and company will not allow that to happen on the North Side. 11 years ago the Cubs looked like they'd never get out of mediocrity and the Sox looked poised for a dynasty run. Things can change in baseball.
  12. Aaaaand the gloating starts, mostly from the bandwagoners.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 01:40 AM) Well thanks everyone (besides a few) for allowing myself and other Cubs haters a place to talk and rant over the last month. Been therapeutic....and at least it wasn't the Sox who lost to them Yeah, honestly now that it's happened, they are just another team like the Red Sox like one poster said. Which means I have absolutely no qualms in wanting them to be the 2007 White Sox in two years.
  14. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 01:16 AM) you are going to get chewed up for this post Yeah, we had Buehrle and Konerko...then a whole lot of fresh faces and freshly signed FAs.
  15. Remember how the Cubs were god awful when the Sox won? In 11 years baby. We got this.
  16. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 12:44 AM) I'm not sure what's been worst tonight... the Cubs winning - or my ex wife being a raging b**** and beginning to text me after they won. ? Latter.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 12:42 AM) My grandfather who died in 1998 was a big Cubs fan but still rooted for the Sox. I feel him hear with me. I wouldn't give up those memories of going to Wrigley Field with him in the nineteen-eighties for nothing. My gramps never took us to Wrigley and he was becoming more of a Sox fan towards the end of his life because my mom was his only child, so his only close family were Sox fans. He began to loathe the Cubs for losing so much at the end, so I'll keep that in mind forever.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 12:30 AM) And I was also thinking will Cubs fans finally shut the f*** up now? Haha Oh god no. And while I'm glad for a few select friends, I will never root for the Cubs or the bandwagoners. They failed my gramps in 2003, so I'll still always root against them.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 12:21 AM) I just woke up and saw. I'm not even pissed. Wife beater got his Kinda where I'm at.
  20. Bryant's smile as he throws to first is actually pretty awesome.
  21. Congrats to the Cubs. Chapman blew it, so I can be cool with this.
  22. Napoli with one hell of a night to forget.
  23. Chapman getting the win is not ok.
  24. This is the game of managers out smarting themselves.
  25. It would be Zobrist.
