  1. If you're interested in seeing what the Sox could expect for returns related to Quintana, Eaton and Jones, check out SoxNet's posted-just-in-time article http://www.chicagonow.com/soxnet/2016/12/p...aton-and-jones/
  2. Well, this got posted in the nick of time.
  3. Anyone disappointed with this needs to scale back and realize we acquired a near MLB ready, #1 prospect in baseball that is one of the highest regarded ever. Hopefully more is on the way, but Hahn got his "untouchable". Bummed to see Sale go - he's a Top 5 Sox pitcher all time, definitely most talented. But the rebuild has begun.
  4. If Devers or Groome are included, this is exactly what we needed.
  5. QUOTE (ChicagoHeel @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 11:56 AM) Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale 3m3 minutes ago The #Redsox and #Nats now in a dual battle for #WhiteSox ace Chris Sale with #Braves as dark horse Excellent.
  6. QUOTE (Blackout Friday @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:58 AM) DD mentioned getting an 8th inning guy is a top priority and that they need to watch payroll to stay under the tax threshold. He is known to covet power arms. Add Nate Jones to Sale and you could probably get a massive haul. I'm thinking Moncada, Devers, Kopech, plus others Adding Jones to get the Red Sox bidding could make the Nats bite on Turner. Those are the two teams Hahn needs to get contending with each other.

  8. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:11 AM) I'm pretty sure at some point during the last two months I suggested a deal centering around Giolato and Robles could become a reality. That said, I think the package I suggested at the time rounded out like this thou: Giolato Robles Lopez Feede Stevenson I think anyone here would be stoked with that. I will take Lucas Gelato
  9. The best part of this thread is Kal and SSI just having a casual conversation amongst all the yelling. Kona could come in, say "Hey, they just traded Sale to Houston, Quintana to Boston, Abreu to Colorado, Eaton to Washington and Jones, Jennings, Frazier and Melky are all on their way out" and none of us would notice.
  10. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 11:28 PM) Holy s***. A post-TJS pitcher who sucked out loud in his MLB debut, and a sub .800 OPS in A+ bat is the centerpiece of a supposed "franchise altering return?" After seeing what Shelby f***ing Miller cost, the domestic abuser Chapman cost, and what Andrew Miller cost, this proposed deal is a f***ing insult to SOX fans. You've got to be f***ing kidding me. Unless there are significant additions to this deal, we should be disgusted as fans. You sound angry / the deal hasn't happened. No way it's just Giolito and Robles, and that's still a good start.
  11. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 11:19 PM) Peavy had a ton of value obviously To be fair, the Sox technically had Jose Iglesias, Frankie Montas, J.B. Wendelken and Cleuluis Rondon from that. If the Sox had only held onto Iglesias, but at the time many thought Avi would become a monster and that Iglesias was all glove.
  12. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:09 PM) I'd probably do a Hoffman, Wall, Murphy, and Almonte for Abreu and Gonzalez. GET BACK YENCY!
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:03 PM) I agree that we can't get Rodgers, but Abreu had a fine season. Huge bounce back in the 2nd half. Yeah, Abreu had a fine season and I think he has worth, but not as much as 2014 Abreu or 2015 Abreu. Then you might get Rodgers.
  14. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:55 PM) 0 chance we could nab Brendan Rodgers? After Abreu's season, yeah. Hoffman, Tapia, McMahon would be pretty great but I highly doubt it.
  15. Red Sox getting in play makes this much more fun.
  16. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Dec 4, 2016 -> 08:55 PM) Washington would be insane to do that. Washington is also insane thinking they can get Cutch and Sale.
  17. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 4, 2016 -> 07:45 PM) Bob NightengaleVerified account ‏@BNightengale The #Nats are actually trying to trade for Chris Sale AND Andrew McCutchen and believe they have the prospects to pull off both trades. at least they believe it...
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 11:03 AM) I actually mind this one a bit more than the Garcia one because it would be nice to see how Saladino does in a full season at 2b. That said, we should have an opening at 3b that either of them could take, but that would require Hahn to make a correct move. Isn't Saladino questionable to start the year with his back?
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 11:00 AM) Spelling his name correctly? Eateon
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 05:21 AM) http://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/201...hoo&ref=yfp Republicans haven't thought through consequences of repealing ObamaCare but not replacing it until 3-4 years down the road. Obama, probably: "They don't have a plan, they just hate mine."
  21. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 06:38 PM) I think Hahn says no, TBH. At least right away. I guarantee he's asking the world for Q and Eaton. Three top 40 prospects, including the #1 SP and #3 OF? That's the type of deal Hahn needs to take and run.
  22. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 07:23 PM) Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeyman 1m1 minute ago Manhattan, NY hear pirates want top OF prospect robles plus a top young SP (giolito, lopez, ross presumably would fit) in Cutch package And for the love of god, can we spell McCutchen's name correctly in this thread title? Then I have no problem asking for this for Eaton.
  23. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 12:22 AM) Ahhh, our old friend Jakson Reetz! Glad someone remembers
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 04:05 PM) Turner and Giolito are MLB players at this point. Turner obviously is. Wasn't counting Giolito. And also should have said established MLB players
