QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 02:56 PM) All this "reckless" behavior the media talks about is far worth the value they provide in exposing the behavior of the governing elites. It's comical the way the media attacks WikiLeaks for doing ya know, actual journalism. Except WikiLeaks doesn't do, ya know, actual journalism. Unvetted data dumps while acting as a puppet for a country =/= journalism. They're in the same tier as Fox News.

Alec Hanson and Alex Call for all positions.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 01:05 PM) And if he continues to suck, Hahn and KW are still idiots who love veterans who can't play anymore. I'm just wondering how good Houston is if they draft Kris Bryant instead of Appel, and keep JD Martinez around. They probably don't trade for Gomez. And Rodon over Aiken.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 12:59 PM) I have plenty of cubs fans around me, and nobody says a word. It must suck working with a bunch of people who act like kids My favorite was when I posted a photo of my press pass to The Cell on FB (because I was excited as hell) and got six or seven comments about how the Cubs were awesome and the Sox suck.

QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 12:26 PM) Oh they do when they see the hat. haha. One comment was, WTF is that? Cubs baby! Sox blow! I believe it. Was parroting some who say there's no reason for Sox fans to care about or dislike the Cubs and that it's embarrassing for us to dislike them because the Cubs have no direct effect on the Sox or their fans.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 12:19 PM) Cubs fans here at work and on my facebook are getting more cocky by the day. My Sox hat on my desk is still the brunt of jokes. Don't worry, Cubs fans don't actually care about White Sox fans so you shouldn't care.

QUOTE (Scoots @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 11:29 AM) Could be the presence of Morneau, but I think the fact that his son is around is the biggest factor as to why he has been performing so well. ...what if Justin Morneau IS his son?

GET HIM FOR THE PLAYOFF PUSH

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 09:40 PM) Hansen also with a 54% groundball rate this year. Couldn't be doing much more. I mean he could be throwing perfect games, but yeah, Sox weren't kidding when they said they saw something.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 06:05 PM) Have you watched Chapman get hit at 103-104? You can't get away with just one pitch in the majors...we'll see how his other stuff develops. It's back to the philosophy of letting him get beat up a bit (with the Sox) and then he'll be likelier to take coaching advice. It's easy to see Hahn using the Hansen pick as his out...we love Zach's arm a lot, his stuff's just too good right now not to utilize along with our current win now assets this year and going into another contending season in 2017. We have also received a slew of glowing reports on the progress of Alec and believe he'll be ready for the rotation by mid 2018, etc. Right now, we have a really positive situation with competition for the starting rotation and don't have to push any of our young guys like Carson too much because they're all experienced veterans diwn there, even Carlos Rodon with two years under his belt. When, not if, Carlos takes the next step, we'll have one of the best rotations in the majors. Unless you're Mo. But otherwise, yes.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 02:44 PM) Are you seriously evaluating a reliever's performance based on the amount of "pitcher wins" he adds or subtracts to from Chris Sale's total? Because that would be total nonsense, and Quinarvy's post is simply stating that. QUOTE (captain54 @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 02:58 PM) No I'm not seriously evaluating Robertson's performance based on the amount of "pitcher wins" he adds or subtracts from Sale's total... If you'll read further back in the thread, I posted other numbers directly relating to where he stands in ERA, WHIP, Blown saves ,etc… But if you chose to cherry pick, like other's have... one supplemental comment I made about him responsible for a couple of Sales lost wins, and perform some magical verbal linguistics, as if that was my whole argument.. wow.. okay.. go run with it, man.. have fun... Then why bring up Sale's win total?! I agree that Robertson has definitely not been up to snuff this year.
-
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 02:03 PM) Because Sale could have 20 wins and is going for the Cy Young. I know SABR stats overshadow wins but it is still a used stat by mainstream fans for indicating success. So Robertson is a bad closer not because it's hurting the team in general, but Chris Sale's Cy Young chances. My point is there was no real reason to bring Sale into this. Robertson has been disappointing this year, regardless of whose wins he's lost.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 02:00 PM) I thought Q meant kill the GOP forever, not in this election. Trump's not even a republican, never has been. Is Bush supposed to give an objective opinion after Trump raw boned his brother into a woefully expensive crying submission? Ah, sorry. Basically meant kill for the foreseeable future. I think this would have some long stretching ramifications on the GOP that would take them a while to bounce back from.

QUOTE (captain54 @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 01:41 PM) Of course it was. The discussion is concerning Robertsons performance vs value. You switched it up completely and brought up an entirely different issue involving Sale and the torn up uni's and missing a couple of starts. This is hilarious. You guys are pretty forgiving when it comes to someone else not getting value for their $$$. My guess is that if it was coming out of your pocket, or you were somehow accountable, you'd be taking a walk over to the dark side with all the irrational ranters, whiners, moaners and chronically unsatisfied Do you join hands and sing "Kumbaya" when you take your car in for a $5 k engine rebuild, and you break down not 20 minutes out of the shop, in rush hour on the Kennedy, bumper to bumper, in 95 degree temps? Then why does it matter costing Sale wins vs. any other pitcher on the team?

Note: My whole stance here is that people have agendas - politicians, publications and leakers. There are few news sources I'll take at face value when it comes to politics without hard evidence immediately backing it up like the New York Times or Washington Post (sans their War on Trump, which I need to see paper trails for). American Conservative, Fox News, The Intercept, MSNBC, WikiLeaks all have agendas they they try to push from the left and right and all usually hide behind "pushing the truth" forward.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 01:41 PM) Shocking that a news source on "gay and lesbian perspective" would report that. Greenwald has made several forms of communication to authoritatives bodies to confirm that he wouldn't be arrested in the United States and he has yet to get a response saying as much. The authorities want him for his role in leaking the information Snowden took. This isn't some happy fairytale where he's a martyr for the gays. He f***ed with the political elite and now they want him silenced. Yet they returned unimpeded in 2014? http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/12/business...he-us.html?_r=0
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 01:33 PM) Yeah that whole "endangering agents" stuff was disproven. That was the crux of the media's initial attempt at character assassinating Snowden. The other source was Laura Poitras. She's an amazing journalist. So good, she can't live in America. Just like Greenwald. That would be because he's gay. http://www.out.com/news-commentary/2011/04...orders?page=0,0

QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) I know your political agenda considers everything rape but Assange isn't a rapist. He had sex with a girl with a condom on and then took the condom off once it started to dry up and broke. Then reentered without a condom. If he's a rapist, so is a great number of sexually active college students. Neither woman claimed she was raped by Assange before being approached by officials with the agenda of bringing down Assange. One of the woman even went out to breakfast after sleeping with her alleged rapist after the incident. http://observer.com/2016/02/exclusive-new-...s-in-stockholm/ I said that journalistic integrity in regards to the protection of their sources. Admittedly if what you're talking about is true, and I have heard the same in passing, that's not responsible. I am probably in the minority, but if there's some unintended consequences due to these data dumps, I still think it's far worth the value of the transparency and the exposing of the political elite scum. With a legal/journalistic eye, he's alleged of rape. That's what he's currently wanted for. And I why I said "in exile because he's wanted for rape." I didn't say violent rape, but he's currently an alleged rapist and in exile for that.

QUOTE (captain54 @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 12:08 PM) that's not the point of the discussion…. Robertson make $300 K less, than the top paid closer in MLB.. so he's very near being the top paid closer in MLB He's tied with or a close second to # of blown saves Conversely, Britton from the O's makes half as much and has 0 blown saves… I have a problem with this.. and I can't tell whether you do as well, because you switched the topic of discussion.. You can't just write off every fan expression of displeasure as an irrational rant, or b****, or moan… the numbers are here in black and white that the Sox now have another problematic situation on their hands, to add to the myriad of problematic situations... Him costing Sale *specifically* wins wasn't the point of the discussion either.

Let's also remember that Assange is in exile because he's wanted for rape.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 12:52 PM) It has been entertaining to see the opinions on him flip since the topic moved from the Iraq War to Hillary and the DNC. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 12:54 PM) He'll be good again once an informant has some damning info on Trump. Bipartisanship team players breed hypocrisy. I've long thought Assange and Snowden are reckless. It's one of the few issues I've sided with the right on. I've always thought Snowden's heart was in the right place, but he was reckless in his leaks (in regards to putting US agents at risk). Assange I've always thought of as a political player with an agenda at play, hiding behind "journalistic integrity."
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 12:45 PM) WikiLeaks protects their sources as best they can. What you define as reckless I would define as a check to the overbearing elites and their power in this country. You seem to have an agenda here though. I'm talking about this. http://nymag.com/selectall/2016/07/why-did...population.html Or are random female Turkish citizens overbearing elites?
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 11:43 AM) I am not really into the red vs. blue, republican vs. democrat way of American thinking so I can take it at face value. Assange essentially admitted it without admitting it. It would go against his journalistic integrity to straight up say it. They can't divulge sources but he also never denied that Rich was the informant and sidestepped every question the reporter asked him. If you watch the interview objectively it's pretty obvious what he is insinuating. Not to mention they immediately put up a reward for any info on Rich's murder right after the fact. Assange has journalistic integrity now? Just about every time WikiLeaks does a reckless dump that gives out private info says otherwise. He's a political player with agendas of his own.
