QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 06:51 PM) There's a couple of ways it could split and end up 269/269, in which case it'd go to the House and we'd end up with President Trump. Yeah, let's not do this scenario.

Please god no.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 05:28 PM) Squints @yeagersaurus @barstoolWSD @Kurkjian_ESPN basicallyjust confirmed your reports on Bogaerts/Betts as the centerpiece for any Sale move on AM1000 whitesoxdave @barstoolWSD 10m10 minutes ago Chicago, IL whitesoxdave Retweeted Squints I wasn't lying when I said this and again, it's why it won't happen I thought that was saying it would happen and was floored.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 05:06 PM) You got what I was saying though right? It's a fun debate because I love them both. Would miss them a lot if they're traded. Yeah. This is why I'm fine with keeping or trading them. They both could command huge ransom's. Or we still have them, which isn't a bad place to be.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 05:09 PM) Would be nice to get something back to the equivalent of Tatis Jr. Not sure what he'll be in the end because he's very very young still. I'm not sure what Shields' value is considering his just recent streak of decent outings and contact going forward. Would be crazy if they dealt all four starters (Sale, Q, Shields and Gonzalez). The rotation would be ass but we'd have a completely overhauled farm system and maybe some young potential TOR arms to go along with Rodon, Fulmer. If they trade the rotation, I'd expect Melky, Eaton and Frazier all dealt. Also, aim higher for something like Tatis Jr. That's a name no one but FS guys would know of if not for his inclusion in the deal.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 05:03 PM) IMO, considering the trade value we've seen for the likes of Shelby Miller in the off-season, recently Pomeranz and Chapman, Sale and Quintana BOTH should net those two. Now maybe you could argue for Quintana, after those two monster prospects, there may be a drop off of prospects to finish the deal. Whereas, trading Sale you'll land all of their top 4-5 prospects not just 2-3. What I mean is say: Sale equals Moncada, Benintendi, Devers, Kopech and Swihart. Maybe you wouldn't get Devers and Kopech as well so would have to settle for one or the other and Swihart. I don't know man. I wish I was in the know so I could figure out what each might net from Boston. Just my two cents if that makes sense. Couldn't explain it that well lol sorry. Yup, Shelby Miller, Pomeranz and Chapman have made those two monstrous in terms of value.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 03:49 PM) I just saw highlights; I need to watch it. I've always liked her, but I just get sick of the reviews always being so predictable loving the Democrats and mocking the Repubs. on the speeches. I need to watch it soon. I thought Bernie had unbelievable momentum heading into California, win after win after win and the media ignored it, proclaimed him buried and it affected Cali. Had he gotten the proper love he deserved at that point, with so many recent victories, I believe he may have snatched the nomination. Add that to the DNC plotting for ways to burn Bernie ... I don't like it. I love Bernie. THE MEDIA™ has taken your complaints into consideration.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 04:52 PM) The thing that keeps Q from being a better pitcher IMO is Sale has an out pitch. The wipeout slider. Q has to use pinpoint command and control. The thing I like about Quintana however is his gutsy performances out of jams. Sale can get pissed off and rattled whereas Q seems like he can stay level headed and in charge. I'd take Sale over Quintana but it's not a huge gap. The thing I'm curious to see is Q vs Sale in playoff games. That's got my intrigue if they're traded. When Q's curveball is going, it can be an out pitch. Just not to the level of Sale's slider/curve or Rodon's slider when on.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 04:44 PM) No chance we'd get both Moncada and Benintendi, but either is perfectly reasonable as a centerpiece if the other pieces are strong. Benintendi is going to be an absolute monster. The contact rate is good, the plate discipline is good, and I've seen the power with my own eyes -- he played our team the year he was drafted, and hit two homers, one of which is the only ball I've ever seen clear the fence, the road, and land in the water outside the Staten Island Ferry. The pop is legit. After the Pomeranz and Chapman deals, Sale probably has the most trade value of any player in MLB history at this exact moment.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) There is some trading deadline mega bong hits going on here. Kolek for Gonzalez, now Shields, the guy who at one time should have cost RH his job, and the guy who should have been released no matter how much they owed him, doesn't have a bad contract and could net a decent return. I imagine the Sox will do something, but I think those thinking they are about to delete half their roster and get about 20 prospects with half of them in the top 50 are going to be disappointed. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) The only reason I threw it out there was because of the TJS for Kolek putting his future in the air to some extent, and because the market this year is just crazy. This is why I keep adding "I would never stop laughing"
-
QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 01:05 PM) Why would you trade Gonzalez just to trade him? He has more value to the Sox than a team like the Marlins, especially if they move Sale or Quintana. Because Kolek is an arm the Sox could definitely develop. It'd be like getting a more hyped version of Montas for Miguel Gonzalez.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 12:52 PM) Although Kolek has awful stats and is now recovering from TJS I'd take a Gonzalez-Kolek swap in a heartbeat being that Gonzalez is a luxury and Kolek's prospect status I don't think I have words for how great a deal that would be

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 12:02 PM) I haven't seen anyone agreeing with what Sale did. It seems to be pretty universally accepted that Chris was wrong. But management definitely shoulders some of the blame here as well. Greg, Mike, a few others in this thread.

QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 12:17 AM) The Mariners got Vogelbach from the Cubs for Mike f***ing Montgomery so anything is possible. This is true.

Oh my god if we got Kolek for Gonzalez I'd never stop laughing.

Ok, here's the crazy "sell 'em all" packages that assumes each other team's GM is Dombrowski. 1) Sale to Dodgers for Urias, Pederson, De Leon, Holmes/Montas and Verdugo 2) Quintana, Robertson and Jennings to Red Sox for Moancada, Benintendi, Devers and Swihart 3) Eaton and Duke to Cardinals for Grichuck and Flaherty 4) Frazier and Jones to Giants for Phil Bickford and Lucius Fox. 5) Melky and Lawrie to Mets for Brandon Nimmo. So ultimately out... Sale, Quintana, Robertson, Jennings, Eaton, Duke, Frazier, Jones, Melky, Lawrie. In... MLB: Pederson - CF, Swihart - OF/C, Grichuck - OF, Prospects: Urias (#2), Moancada (#5), Devers (#14), De Leon (#20), Benintendi (#21), Flaherty (#68), Montas (#82), Verdugo (#89), Bickford (#99), Fox and Nimmo. Add that to your current core of Anderson, Fulmer, Rodon with Collins, Burdi, Hansen, Call and Fisher all hopefully fast risers. And then they all bust.

Baez for Sale, straight up.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 07:31 PM) I'm a Bernie guy but these anti Hillary Bernie supporters are pissing me off. Like STFU and look at the big picture. Now Rosario Dawson is running her mouth. Hope they watch Bernie's speech tonight and snap out of it. The Berners are ridiculous. A shantytown? A fart-in? This is the most privileged revolution I've ever watched unfold.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 12:08 PM) Also, we've heard this is a sellers market and all the trades so far have indicated that. Hope Hanh can extract maximum value on all fronts. It's time we clearly WIN a trade or three. Sale, Robertson and Frazier would top my list of guys that get sent off. Jennings, Duke, Jones, Melky, Lawrie I can see staying or going
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 03:40 PM) I don't like Hahn for personal reasons that go all the way back to how he treated people at Harvard Law...but mostly because he has done a pretty lousy job. Again, my apologies. But also, WTF. Your life is fascinating.
