  2. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 08:13 PM) Honestly, I'd give Adam Engel a shot since he couldn't do much worse than Jackson offensively. Defensively, he's ready for the job. Definitely not. Maybe if this were an extremely short stint, but not for six weeks.
  3. s*** that was a good play. As long as Jose is ok.

  6. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 01:58 PM) Usually it is in the first post of the pinned thread. I am guessing since most of the admins now are continuously trying to pimp out their blog site that practice has been discontinued. You do realize those sites function in conjunction WITH Soxtalk, right?
  7. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 11:55 AM) .@TimAnderson7 will wear uniform No. 12. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/741297208314712064 Why not just give him 7? Rollins doesn't need it anymore
  8. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 11:49 AM) Saw somewhere that they don't expect him up until 2018 or 2019. Seems a bit slow for a college player. And one that is already disciplined. Hopefully that is more like late 2017. This is the fun time with prospects where we rush them to make our team better! (in our minds) Two years wouldn't be slow at all.
  9. Hahn ain't f***ing around.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 05:57 PM) One of my friends has a 25 year old daughter living at home with no prospects of moving out cause she can't find a good job. I do feel the pain of Millenials in a lot of ways. They are inheriting a work force that a.) does not want to pay them medical benefits. b.) that does not want to ever give them performance bonuses or heaven forbid, raises in pay according to merit. c.) that requires overtime with no overtime pay, basically threatening them with termination if they don't play along and do the work for no extra pay and finally d.) they are the generation that in college was expected to do unpaid internships which should be illegal. If somebody does work, they deserve pay. So I ask ... can we blame Millenials for moving back in with mom and dad? Are there any hope for millenials that don't become doctors in terms of them ever making a fair, decent buck? Best wishes to all new grads BTW and best of luck in finding suitable employment! Also I would like to ask those Soxtalkers who have a say in management of their companies ... do you have unpaid internships and what is your justification for having kids come in and work for NO PAY? Unpaid internships anger me beyond no end. Pay The Worker, don't hide behind the fact it's an internship. Especially because some places have interns do the same work. An old place I was at tried to keep people as students as long as possible, then minimum wage interns with sporadic hours. Meanwhile the place I'm at now decided to go from $15/hr, 30 hrs a week to temp. salaried full timers. We don't get benefits as temps, but the pay raise is huge.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 01:21 AM) I do not want any applause for what I am about to share. I am appalled by this case and the verdict of course. My best wishes to the victim. Sad what she had to go through! I'd like to ask all of you if you ever were in a similar situation. I was in college and at the bar drinking what they call schooners of beer here. It's like 3 beers in one. I probably had 3 of em and was pretty buzzed. I wasn't driving. My roommate was. At the bar I started talking to some girl and my friend started talking to her friend. After the bar closed, my roommate drove us to their dorm and we went up to their respective rooms. I had decided to pick up this girl, ostensibly for a college one-nighter even though I didn't think she was that cute/hot, whatever. But I had decided to go for it as she made it clear I could pick her up. Anyhow, we get to her room and a delayed drunkenness hit her hard. She was all woozy and basically passing out. She was kind of continuing to flirt. My brain (thanks, Mom and Dad for raising me right) immediately said, 'well that's that, no sex tonight.' I put her in her bed, put her blanket on her, said goodbye and put a garbage bin next to her bed, exited her room, and somehow located my friend and busted up his tryst so he could drive me home. He was pissed of course. I think his 'date' ended up coming with us, lol. I never ever considered taking advantage of somebody in a drunken stupor/passed out. It turned out she was a little sister to our frat and at our next function she had a friend come up to me and say how much her friend appreciated my behavior and how she was too embarrassed to thank me. Her friend told me she wanted me to ask her out. I never did. Have any of you had similar situations in college where your 'date' or 'pick up' was passed out like that? How did you handle it? Haven't had that experience no, but you're a good man Greg.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 11:43 PM) Will they still have the California primary if she's got the nomination? If they do have it ... now Hillary has ANOTHER built in laughing point if Bernie wins yet another primary. She'll just laugh and say, "I am the nominee, so in effect, I won today." And she'll brush Bernie off her lapel like the innocent gnat he proved to be. It's also sad cause these reports might keep people home and again harm Bernie's chances. This is such bulls***. It's all fixed. The Democrat higher-ups wanted Hillary, they got Hillary. If I was a Bernie supporter no way in hell I'd support Hillary after this fix-job. it's ridiculous. They made it so tough on Bernie. whatever happened to the Democratic process in the f***ing Democratic party? There was no fix, but now King Bernie the Sanctimonious wants a coronation at the DNC instead f the democratically elected nominee.

  14. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 10:34 PM) I'm not a trump supporter at all, but hillary and the entire media need to get off this racist crap. The guy is bringing issues to the forefront that career politicians haven't the balls to speak of. And I get both sides of it but this taking words too literally needs to stop. For example: The Syrian Refugee thing. Like all Drumpf's saying is the idea of thousands of refugees coming here scares the s*** out of people. Sure the way he said it grabbed headlines, but cmon, does anybody HONESTLY think Drumpf hates Muslim people? Of course not- you'd be naive to think he supports the inhumane. The American people are scared of terrorism and they deserve more than a wide-open door. They need to know that government is "on the muthaf***a", so to speak. Somebody needs to bring it up. The Mexican rapist thing. All he's saying is the f***ing cartels are scaring the s*** out of our border residents, and people cross over all day wihout much stopping them. White's and Hispanics down there are scared to death that murderers, rapists, whatever run free in towns like Laredo etc. But the media spins it that ALL Mexicans are rapists blah blah. STFU. While only a small percentage of our population, border people are scared to death. What's wrong with shoring it up down there...or at least talking about it without political redtape soaking the issue. Immigration and the border has made zero progress in decades. Same s*** every day. I'm not voting for Drumpf but I'm glad he's changing the culture of politics a little bit. He's the first candidate I can remember that doesn't seem like a puppet. Hillary is a total puppet. And now she needs to get in the ring snd fight. Can't wait for the debates to start. We'll see how presidential she is in the face of raw power coming at her. I have no doubt she'll murder him in debates. She has incredibly thick skin, he's got incredibly thin skin. He won't have Jeb! to push over either. He's locked in the room with her, not the other way around.

Finally saw The Jungle Book. Fantastic. Gonna go see The Nice Guys next.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 03:15 PM) The bottom line is the media wants Hilary to win badly and is doing all in its power to make it happen and will continue to do so. Drumpf is an evil jerk, we all know that. Hillary is just as bad a person, actually probably worse. The choices are stupifying. They are beyond belief. We are voting between Donald Drumpf and Hillary CLinton?? Thank goodness presidents have very little actual power. Nah
  17. Here's hoping Jason will be fine.
  18. A lot worse things than honoring the negros leagues
