  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 04:31 PM) I have a feeling he would thank his fans during his career while not plugging his meat company in his farewell letter. Well, that and because he never once mentioned his son battling an illness during his first year with the Sox and that would have been an understandable excuse in my book. He went out, tried to do his job while getting left out to dry by Ozzie, got booed and came back the next year with an All-Star season.
  2. You know who I really respect after all of this? Adam Dunn
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:31 PM) The question to me is whether KW and JR talked before this happened and who KW discussed things with. If he gets canned, it should be because he didn't run it by the right parties. If he doesn't get canned, it should be because he ran it by all the right parties and everyone was on board but they internally decided Kenny should be the one who ultimately took the heat and was the "bad" guy. No idea what actually happened. +1
  4. QUOTE (heirdog @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:19 PM) Borrowing from Occam's Razor where the simplest explanation is likely the most plausible, here is what probably happened: Rick Hahn, the smartest man in the room, decided he would kill 2 birds with one stone. He set up Kenny to fall on the sword by playing on his emotions about players thinking he is weak. He also wanted LaRoche out of here and knew the only thing to send him packing would be the son angle. So Rick decided to go to Kenny and float "no player will say it but they don't like having Drake around" and "they wish you, Kenny, would step in but he don't think you have the guts to". Knowing Kenny would create a maelstrom and personalize the issue to himself...which now he can't revert back from, Rick will soon have full GM power and $13 million to spend on a championship roster.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 12:27 PM) This just in. Yoenis Cespedes now wants to sign with the White Sox and join the circus-like atmosphere, feels it's the closest thing to the sheer craziness of NYC and White Sox apparently willing to pay him $30 million and let him wear his cap backwards. Cites the DeAndre Jordan precedent. Threads merged for the biggest in SoxTalk history.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 12:17 PM) To be fair, neither would Adam LaRoche or a players son every day. Or distractions like the Duck Dynasty guys.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) Bill Shaikin ‏@BillShaikin 23m23 minutes ago Chris Sale, ripping Ken Williams, on clubhouse access debacle: "If we’re all here to win a championship, this kind of stuff doesn’t happen." To be fair, neither would Adam LaRoche or a players son every day.
  8. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 11:41 AM) It's no wonder why Drake LaRoche liked the clubhouse so much. He was in a room full of his peers.
  9. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 11:36 AM) Or it could have been a Gentleman's agreement done by a handshake. I know people would be surprised by that possibility, but some folks still think that's a way to do business. If having the youngster in the clubhouse was allowed by Rick Hahn and Robin Ventura then it is none of Kenny Williams business and he should NEVER have interfered. I have to wonder about the comments mad by KW on what he was trying to do. He said this was a case of trying to change things and get people to focus on the task at hand, etc, etc, and what makes this year different then the other dozen plus since KW has been in the management role? I understand, but handshake agreements change. See: Buehrle - Marlins. Players complained. It's their business, their clubhouse. And Kenny only asked him to scale it back, not banish the kid to the fifth circle of hell.
  10. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 11:29 AM) Not to be hyper critical of your opinion, but when something like this is posted the question needs to be asked... Can you speak for what Adam Laroche would do or say in that situation? I cannot, but it has crossed my mind. I do know that LaRoche is friends with a despicable hate-mongering homophobe and that the White Sox let them have the entire f***ing stadium. They were accommodating. What if a non-Christian player felt offended by that? Or the Jewish owner? Faith and family first and the Sox let him have both. Now he's throwing a tantrum because they asked for a little less out of respect for the players. If Adam wants to hide behind "faith and family first" to act like some paragon of morality in a battle of good vs. evil, make himself out to be a martyr and throw a tantrum all so he can disrespect the wishes of a few players and make himself and his son special snowflakes, then he's quite frankly an awful teammate and person.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 11:27 AM) Oh s***, Chris. Yup. Walk across the the concourse at Camelback. Ask for Seager, Urias and I don't know, Pederson.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 11:17 AM) Bill Shaikin ‏@BillShaikin 8m8 minutes ago Eaton says La Roche told him he did have contractual agreement for son to be in clubhouse. 1) Kenny said there wasn't. So now someone is lying, but we can't take either for fact. 2) The clause could very well say "Drake LaRoche is welcome in the clubhouse", not "Drake LaRoche has unlimited access to White Sox facilities"
  13. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) If that's true, why haven't we heard about it until now? That doesn't make sense. And why would Kenny flat out lie (per the Sun-Times link)? And honestly, with Sale, get Friedman on the phone if he keeps this up. Put Eaton on the market as well. Edit: I'm not saying at this exact moment, but if they keep going.
  14. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 09:45 AM) Just to throw a bit of humor into the thread... LaRoche = Eddie Harris Rollins= Pedro Cerrano " Up your butt, Jobu" I was hoping someone would toss this in here. My dad and I talked about how if a player like Pedro Cerrano existed and lived in the clubhouse, would LaRoche be tolerant of his having an altar in his locker? Let's remember the Sox were pretty accommodating of LaRoche when they gave him a faith day that allowed him to bring in a homophobic hate-monger that he pals around with. Or how they gave his kid a locker. To act like the Sox were hating on LaRoche's values is hysterical.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:01 PM) Yes. Adam can't bring his daughter either. On the other hand there probably isn't a father in the world who would have any desire to bring his girl around a Major League Baseball team. Well, that's not fair. Especially if wives get to come hang out at the ballpark.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 07:56 PM) Daughters are not allowed. LaRoche has a daughter. "Adam gets to bring his son, but I can't bring my daughter? So we're discriminating now?"

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 11:07 PM) Hey, wanted to update this. We hit 12 weeks today. Going to be a dad Woo! Congrats bmags!
  18. Seems most media personnel are like "Yeah, this makes sense."
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 09:39 AM) It'll make the Senate look even worse when they reject it or delay it for 9 months. Obama made a political power play. If this gets dragged out, it only gives the democrats ammo for the general elections.
  20. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 11:58 PM) Yes it can for them. Who are you to tell people what to do with their vote? Oh, they 100% can. But these are the same people who kept going on long winded rants about "you can't complain if you don't vote." And to be fair to them, I'm in a different place as someone that likes qualities in both Bernie and Hillary.
  21. Some of my friends are doing the Bernie or bust bulls***. That's not how this works guys.
  22. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 02:40 PM) I thought he was going to make the team regardless. It was crowded. Barring another move Shuck should basically have a guaranteed spot.
  23. Mad respect to LaRoche for walking away from $13 million. Hope he and his family are in an OK place. I think this helps JB Shuck out a lot. http://www.chicagonow.com/soxnet/2016/03/a...-leave-the-sox/
  24. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 01:20 AM) They did. And I like how AustinIllini dodged the question of why the Bulls are a whole lot worse than last year with Thibs. And how the minutes haven't changed under Hoiberg, the injuries are as bad if not worse and the only thing that has changed is the team is worse on offense, defense, point differential and wins. How'd they go from the only threat to Cleveland to not knowing if they'll make the playoffs. He tried to implement the Spurs offense and the players couldn't pick it up or wouldn't pick it up. Same with Hoiball. Thibs became a victim of his own success. He constantly overachieved. Here's some analysis from FiveThirty8 for ya'll. http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/the-bul...in-nba-history/ There's a reason why Golden State and San Antonio are asking him for consultations. Also, the Nets tried to offer him the job after Lionel and King were fired, but he didn't want to make a decision right now and he wants to coach either the Knicks, Lakers or wait until a better opening is available. Let us not forget how the Bulls dicked around with his firing too. Waiting waiting and more waiting. And whether Thibs was right or wrong about leaking stuff to JVG messed up his relationship with Jerry. It's funny how GarPax are always about not leaking stuff yet they let Butler and Noah run rampant. And they always leak stuff to the media about how Derrick is cleared to play when he wasn't mentally ready, how they say he's out for general soreness or how Deng is cleared to play, but it's up to his pain threshold when the guy had a broken foot. The basis of Thibs getting fired and that relationship turning sour was all Gar Forman. The guy was pissed because he wasn't getting enough credit for 2010 (how anyone can complain about not getting enough credit when you got backdoor swept in the ECF is anyone's guess) and after that, Gar started trying to consolidate power. The whole Ron Adams thing was a power play that Gar won. Funny how Adams is coaching for the defending champs, is a basketball lifer, and never had any issues with anyone in basketball but Gar. He was named Assistant Coach of the Year last year. And Boston sang his praises when hiring him. Also, Adams was the coach that Rose trusted the most. http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2013/10/...?event=event12# That's when the leaking really started about how Thibs is stubborn, didn't want to change, didn't want to adjust the offense and he was the reason for losing as if the roster makeup and the constant bs injuries his and now Hoiberg's team is dealing with. Thibs tried different things. Getting the offense to run through Noah and getting Taj to shoot the corner 3(yes, and this was in Zach Lowe's podcast with him too). And last, but not least, was the undermining of him by installing Jen Swanson, making it the worst known secret that Hoiberg would be the next coach of the Bulls a full summer before Thibs was let go and by putting unrealistic expectations on Thibs. Tell me how Jen Swanson is doing now. Tell me how Hoiberg is managing the minutes soooo much better than Thibs and is preventing injuries and keeping guys fresh. Thibs will never be an employee of the Chicago Bulls because Jerry Reinsdorf who originally hired Thibs when GarPax wanted Mike Brown, Lawrence Frank and Doug Collins, saw things Gar's way as he muddied the waters and made Jerry see things his way. He's the ultimate suck up. PS, wanna know why the Bulls don't make trades? It's because of Gar Forman's smug ass. And if Paul Shirley never took down his post on Gar Forman, you'd see how much of a jagoff the guy is. I'll +1 this. Still like Paxson. He wasn't gun shy at making trades. Just wish that the damn JVG debacle hadn't happened.
  25. QUOTE (gosoxgo2005 @ Mar 14, 2016 -> 10:20 PM) Who would ya rather have Schwarber or Rodon? (Schwarber was taken immediately after Rodon) Rodon every time.
