  1. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 04:15 PM) Explain, I would love to hear your reasoning B-Mac is a 32 year old, frequently injured pitcher that was mediocre the past few years other than his current run with the Yankees. Hector Noesi is a #5 starter. John Danks is overpaid and recovering from a huge injury. He's gotten very lucky this year. Brett Anderson is often injured and completely up and down. Sale is the lone bright spot until Rodon arrives.
  2. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 03:54 PM) No that's whats free agency is for. Im trading Quintana, with the thought that Rodon will take his spot in the rotation some point during the season. I would sign Brandon McCarthy to a contract and he would be my new number 2 going forward in 2015, and I would sign Brett Anderon to a short term contract (2 years max) that is also heavy on incentives, and if he stays healthy and pitches well I would flip him at the deadline. ROTATION: Sale, McCarthy, Danks, Noesi, Anderson. That rotation is absolute and utter garbage. Like, worst in the league by far garbage.

ISIS is f***ing crazy. I wish there weren't innocents in the region so they could just be blown to hell.
  4. No Rodon or Mitchell is a shock.
  5. Sam and Lynch not making practice squads makes the Mizzou and NIU fan in me sad.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 1, 2014 -> 11:46 PM) Guess he didn't watch BOYHOOD. At any rate, Nymphomaniac 1 is actually quite good, and not exactly what you're expecting. It's a lot less salacious than, say, Spring Breakers or the latest Sin City. Boyhood's gross is $28M. The point is that comic book movies are keeping Hollywood in business in terms of dollars.
  7. Some people just seemed to be obsessed with moving Q. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 04:17 AM) Trading Quintana could be very beneficial for the Sox because both traditional scouts and sabremetricians love him, amd teams always over pay for pitching, especially if its an under 30 left handed pitcher who is among the league leaders in quality starts and is signed to very team friendly contract. Example A: Why the hell would we trade a player that advanced stats and traditional scouts love that is a lefty, under 30, on a team friendly contract that produces great numbers? He's 25. He can theoretically still get better.
  8. If we didn't have Sale, people would be looking at Quintana as the staff ace. He keeps improving and is locked up for a while. He, Sale and Rodon all being under control for cheap can give the Sox the ability to build an elite, young and cheap rotation.

http://grantland.com/hollywood-prospectus/...-of-the-galaxy/ Grantland write up about how awful this movie summer is. Who woulda thought comic book movies would be what ultimately are keeping this afloat right now?
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 1, 2014 -> 09:12 PM) Hey greg, who was Dunn's manager when he put up the worst season in the history of baseball??? (hint: it wasn't Robin Ventura) Don Cooper.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 1, 2014 -> 03:42 PM) Let's face it. Our "fans" are loyal but there aren't many of them. That's the way it is. And they don't make much if any noise at games if you've watched them or listened to them. That'll change if they ever get in the World Series again. Greg is right. The Sox have an incredibly small, but very loyal fanbase that needs a winner on the field. I remember the map of fandoms by county and the only White Sox ones were Cook, Kankakee and Will counties.
  12. QUOTE (Wickel @ Sep 1, 2014 -> 05:46 PM) I hope so, Hi8. I'll be here. Besides, after we get rid of President O in 2016, we'll be just fine. Like Caulfield said, go read up on the SLAM board's filibuster section before posting anything political.

EJ and Davidson both need to just take a month or two off of baseball completely. Then they just need to hit up their coaching staffs and work as hard as possible.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 1, 2014 -> 05:26 PM) Any pitcher. Never give pitchers long term deals. It rarely works out and puts teams in budget problems. It's especially true for international FA because you have no idea if they will be successful Unless it's Chris Sale for extreme under market value.

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 06:31 PM) Danish is done 6 ip, 4 h, 1 er, 3 bb, 4 k Finishes the season with 129.2 innings. With really no signs of slowing down. That bodes well for next year.
  16. I'd imagine so.
  17. Mitchell has seemingly been reborn since his demotion to AA. Time to see if it's real.
  18. Am I crazy for thinking one of Montas or Danish will be in the rotation by the end of the year?
  19. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 12:58 PM) Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? I think he's a great example that modern day "everyone gets a trophy" athletes should pay attention to. He was never defensive about his lack of performance and would not shy away from the media talking about. I could never dislike Adam Dunn despite not living up to expectations. The guy is a class act. My biggest regret is now that can't use him in the pen. He can't be any worse than BlowSorryYo. He's saying that after how Dunn was treated, no one would have blamed him if he was an ass to everyone
  20. I can see Mitchell getting the call.
  21. Wait, we got a live arm for Dunn? Neat.
  22. Class act. Best of luck to him.
  23. Didn't see that coming. Best of luck to ADA.
  24. I remember the Bears and Ravens being interested in him. Anyone other teams?
