  1. Cubs prospects have 0 bearing on ours.
  2. Best of luck to Gordon. He was likable and man, his rookie season was something special. Stone, Jeter and it seemed like everyone thought he'd be a multi-time MVP. Good luck Gordo.
  3. QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 04:14 PM) we pay 18 mil for a guy per year who is not worth anything to another team/ even for one months salary, sad. Who are we paying $18M?

You figure between Semien, Sanchez, Anderson, and Rondon one of them HAS to stick. It feels so weird compared to years past where it'd be like "We've got two or three position prospects that should be MLB caliber. Maybe."
  5. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 04:37 PM) From Wikipedia... the controversy dates back to at least 1971. "Although often assumed to be a debate of recent origins, the local Washington, DC newspapers have published news items on the controversy many times since at least 1971, all in response to Native American individuals or organizations asking for the name to be changed.[48] National protests began in 1988, after the team's Super Bowl XXII victory. Numerous Native Americans wrote letters to Redskins owner Jack Kent Cooke encouraging him to change the name. Others boycotted Redskins products and protested. Many of these events were led by Suzan Shown Harjo of the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI). Cooke responded in an interview, stating, "There's not a single, solitary jot, tittle, whit chance in the world that the Redskins will adopt a new nickname." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Re...ame_controversy Wikipedia so it doesn't count.
  6. Would any of the following be ok? Coons, Spics, Chaptas, Chinks, Gooks, Mayates, and Mojados.

Does anyone else get the feeling that ISIS is slowly biting off more than they can chew before they just get annihilated, be it by the US or someone else?
  8. What about a team called the Blackfaces, cause they use eye black.
  9. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 10:44 PM) Is that to be expected this far after surgery? Serious question, I have no idea. I've only hyper-extended my knees/pinched nerves in them and it took long periods of time (took four years for me to no longer need a brace to play sports) after each one for the occasional ache to go away, so I'd imagine a pro athlete after surgery would be feeling it at least a year out.

  11. The laughing keeps me from crying. But actually, it's to be expected. He had knee surgery.
  12. Ditka is such an ass. According to him the Redskins controversy is all about the politically correct idiots in the country. Go f*** yourself Mike.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 02:55 PM) Forget him as a prospect, that K-rate will not work at the MLB level. He'll strike out the first nine, then they all just give up.
  15. I'm pulling for Manziel because the criticism of him compared to other football players is ridiculous and idiotic
  16. Darvish cleared waivers. Crazy.
  17. This is a goofy, reactionary thread that won't prompt any real construction considering Marquis Jackson is in the LLWS right now and thus not able to sign with teams. Prompt the question in the LLWS thread.
  18. I like this Avi kid. Good pick up.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 7, 2013 -> 10:07 PM) I kind of question Rios in TWTW department. I have no proof, of course. The eye test tells me he's a decent ballplayer whose TWTW can be questioned. If I'm wrong, behead me. I think he screams mediocre to good ballplayer, kind of like Jose Guillen near the end of Jose's career. Greg is technically correct. He was cool with Rios' face, he was not cool with Rios' TWTW stats.
  20. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 12:59 PM) If Mark really thought he would play out that entire contract in Miami, then he's the only one. This. Once you saw how it was structured it was obvious he'd be gone.
  21. No need to apologize. I really hope that he can come back for maybe the last season of his career. Man I miss Mark.

Autopsy said Brown was shot 6 times, no gunshot residue on the body. Rioting happening again. Friend told me that he needs proper identification to get past an intersection and to his house. Guns pointed at the intersection.
  23. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 17, 2014 -> 11:54 PM) EJ isn't even a pimple on Coop's ass right now imo, he's been brutal and was recently shut down with "shoulder tightness" or something. Sale Q Rodon Noesi Danks that won't fly IMO they need at least 2 more guys to compete and ideally Rodon wouldn't come up until May. Yes, my point was that Noesi is likely the number five and they wait it out to see if EJ rebounds, Beck or Bassitt develop enough to make bigs next year. I'm just very hesitant to hand out big deals to the likes of Masterson or Shields that we'll likely regret in a few years.
  24. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 17, 2014 -> 07:38 PM) I love Moises and Conor lol It's my new favorite reality show.
