QUOTE (LDF @ Sep 12, 2014 -> 11:31 PM) yeah, I am guilty for rooting for the sox to loose. for me, it is nerving, so to speak, to see a season lost. the sox is in need to rebuild and is rebuilding. why not to hope for a higher pick to help that rebuild go faster. last yr picking up Rodon does more to improve the team. in 2015 draft, there is a difference between a high level prospect and other prospects. I know I am being foolish, but I would love to see the sox in the playoff every yr. you know what pisses me off, the sox as far as I know has never picked higher than #3, and yet for all the failures, the team has managed to be respectful in the overall standings. can you imagine what it would have been like if the sox were able to pick higher than 5 for several yrs in a row? They picked Harold Baines #1 overall in 1977. They also picked HS catcher Danny Goodwin #1 overall in 1971. Goodwin opted for college and was drafted #1 overall four years later by the Angels. He amounted to nothing.

Adrian Peterson indicted for negligent injury to a child
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 12, 2014 -> 08:14 PM) I don't see how he plays again this year. http://deadspin.com/report-adrian-peterson...case-1634160368 Disgusting.

Stadium
If this was before the renovations started, I'd agree, but since they started renovating it the stadium is a really nice place. If only we could just rotate it to have the skyline in the background.

Bring the Sox back to SB
I wish all of the affiliates were in the area, but sadly that won't happen. Keeping them all relatively close is the next best thing, even though Birmingham is kinda on its own island.

It's about that time of the year again...
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 11, 2014 -> 08:21 AM) I've seen you mention a few times that the Sox really liked Jeff Jackson in '89 too, especially as a hometown boy, but the Phillies snagged him at 4, three picks ahead of the Sox, and they had to settle for Frank Thomas. I also feel like scouting would be a bit more improved today.

September notes
I'm liking what I see from Bassitt.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 05:56 PM) Back in the day there were fights at our grade school and high school over Cubs record vs. Sox record. I can imagine how the teachers are so happy nowadays there are no fights. At the grade school recess or gym class the Cub fan says, "Ha ha. The Cubs have a better record than your Sox." And the little Sox fan instead of tackling him counters with ... "who gives a s***? I want to lose We get the better draft pick! Ha ha. We win. We get the better draft pick." 1) No 2) For someone that talks about the good ol' days a lot, there sure were a lot of fights in your schools. Shameful. 3) People have more common sense than to fight about Sox vs. Cubs in school or, you know, anywhere. Otherwise we get cases like the now crippled Giants fan who was assaulted at a Dodgers game. 4) When both teams are crap, the arguments tended to swing more towards "Well, we're less awful than you."

Samardzija wants back in Chicago after 2015 Season?
QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 10, 2014 -> 10:35 AM) He wants to go back to the Cubs if he comes back to Chicago. He's a Cubs fan and they would want him more than the Sox would because of fan interest. Is he really worth 18-20 mil a year, though? He grew up a Sox fan, for what it's worth.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Sep 9, 2014 -> 08:58 AM) So not really anything like 2005 for the White Sox. This. The A's already have as many losses as the 2005 Sox. Not nearly as dominant pre-September.

2015 Offseason
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 07:03 PM) Even then, it's doubtful. When you start talking about long-term deals for pitchers around the age of 30 that have NEVER had TJ surgery yet, you're rolling the dice. Shields would be the prime example. Even then, if Herm and Coop give a stamp of approval, I'm game.

9/8 vs Oakland A's
QUOTE (MAX @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 05:56 PM) Wow, that's kind of horrible. At first I thought it was funny. But then I thought, that really trivializes all fans interest and desire to win for their team. I mean, we shouldnt care at all that he sucks, because we aren't on the team. So fandom of a team is equated with fantasy teams? Ugh. I'm not even a hater and I don't like this comment at all. I laughed. He was treated like absolute s*** by fans, even though after 2011 he was productive. Also, I read it more as "I understand getting mad at guys you want to produce."

2015 Offseason
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 06:50 PM) If he keeps going at this rate, he will be WAY out of the Sox shopping range. I would say you'd have to be looking at the 100-$150 million range. Only way I'd see it happening is if the Sox see him as THE final piece to go for it. Then Jerry MIGHT open the checkbook.

2015 Offseason
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 06:45 PM) It will never happen, but dayum that would be just f'ning nasty. Throw Rodon in at #3 and Q at #4? Wow. I'd be down with Shark if the price was right. Sale - Samardzija - Rodon - Quintana - Danish/Montas/Adams would make me quite happy. Use the other two arms as trade bait. Plus, didn't Samardzija grow up a Sox fan?
