QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 11:51 PM) Really now? You get a potential ace in Martinez or Wacha, and 3 good left handed bats to really balance out the lineup (we have zero LHB in the minors). I like it much better than ones Q posted. They can throw in Blazek and some lower level guys as well. Martinez and Wacha. Not or. The two deals I posted...Skaggs and Homberg and Cole and Tallion. That's 2 high level pitching prospects from each deal + bats. That's where conversations start.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 04:22 PM) ^ Diamondbacks I'm asking Skaggs, Eaton, Owings, Davidson, Holmberg, Trahan. Pirates I'm asking Tallion, Cole, Polanco, Hanson and McGuire. Again, these are the types of deals I'd be willing to trade Sale for. And that's only if we get Rodon. No team is going to pay that price.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 04:30 PM) For a counterpoint, let's look at San Francisco. They have won 2 world series now on the strength of their top front line starting pitching with "barely enough to be adequate" offense. They had to switch one of those starters from Lincecum to Bumgarner, and they've gotten a big contribution from their catcher...but that is a team with 2 world series in what, 4 years, keyed entirely by having a top of the line pair of starters leading their rotation. Let's hypothetically say the Sox added Rondon to Sale at the top of that rotation. Now we're talking about a legitimately dominant possible pitching staff. The kind of pitching staff that on its own wins world series trophies, plural. I'd be ok with Sale, Quintana, Santiago, Rondon and Rienzo/Johnson.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 04:19 PM) To move Sale, I am asking for Bogaerts, Bradley, Ranaudo, Webster, and Cecchini. Even then, I'm taking my sweet ass time making the deal. ^ Diamondbacks I'm asking Skaggs, Eaton, Owings, Davidson, Holmberg, Trahan. Pirates I'm asking Tallion, Cole, Polanco, and Hanson. Anyone wanting Sale is paying a heavy, heavy price.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 04:01 PM) Same here. In fact, that doesn't even sound legal. I know most insurance companies will also try to get you to take your car to a specific "preferred" body shop but you aren't required to go there. I didn't like the shop my insurance always recommended so I would just tell them that I'd be going to another shop that was literally half a mile down the road from the recommended one. My dad is my lawyer, so if it were illegal, I hope he'd catch it. The good news is that I do like the new 2013 Civic, just kind of didn't expect HAVING to get it and not look.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 03:55 PM) It's amazing that right when we lose Buehrle to FA, Quintana steps in and basically clones himself (from the blood of his penis, obviously) as the second coming of Mark. I think Q is a piece to build around as well. Santana, I'm not sold on quite yet, but promising. Sale, I would move. 1) "Blood of his penis" has to confuse people who weren't around for that joke. 2) Santiago? 3) I would not.
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 03:49 PM) Why would anyone trade Q or Santiago? No no no. You better be getting an all star, young position player in return. Also, you're not, so there goes that. I'm on this bandwagon. You build your future around Sale, The Serpent and Santiago.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 03:27 PM) Just going through different runs and exploring the world, I have probably put in about 500 hours into Morrowind, and that's on XBox. I remember jumping into Oblivion for the first time and wondering where the hell the Stilt Striders were. Oh, and those f***ing cliff racers. Worse than Zubats All hail St. Jiub Fast travel in Morrowind made exploring mandatory...which to be honest I liked more.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 03:13 PM) In Mass Effect, the turians are Romans, and the Asari are Greek I had a thing going with a friend trying to match the races in it to real-life civilizations. Krogan have to be Spartans.

I'm still waiting for Skywind to come out before getting Skyrim for PC. It's a mod that puts Morrowind in Skyrim engine and world (they're apparently using the Elder Scrolls to allow the Dragonborn relive the Nerevarine's life, so you can have both games up). Unlike most giant mods, they just have to upscale the textures, skins, and models so while still time consuming, it's reasonable. The videos released so far look really good. They're also adding full voice acting to all the characters. Did the same for Oblivion (put Morrowind in Oblivion), so there is a precedent. They're then going to do Skyblivion, which is self-explanatory. Just can't wait to play those two games in Skyrim's engine. Especially Morrowind.

QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 01:25 PM) Finally, a post that's worth reading in this cesspool of a thread. I'll patiently await you telling me about how awesome Anthony Rizzo is.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 08:54 PM) I'm back into Fallout 3. It's so good. I would say best or second best game ever along with Ocarina of Time. This generation has produced some great games that can all make a legit claim to that... Fallout 3 Red Dead Redemption Bioshock Infinite (haven't played, but from all that I've heard) The Last of Us Mass Effect 2 Of those four that I have played, all had amazing stories and good or great gameplay. I'd put Uncharted 2, but by nature of Naughty Dog trumping the entire Uncharted series with TLOU, it seems silly.

Welp, nevermind, insurance just said the car must be same make and model. Good thing I liked my Civic...

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 10:06 AM) All this "can't hit crap" and he still has a .989 OPS against lefties. He's a platoon player at this point, but he can still hit [lefties]. Also, the Sox could have tried to give away Konerko, but he could have just shut it down due to his 10/5 no trade clause. More likely is that the Sox approached Konerko about playing for a contender as a role player down the stretch and he stated he wanted to just finish the year in Chicago. You do this with players who have spent 15 years in your organization and have the 2nd most home runs in franchise history because this isn't a video game and the White Sox are a classy organization. This. This 1000 times. Paulie likely wants to retire in Chicago, is old, getting hurt more often, and knows that next year likely won't be a contender. He's been contemplating retirement. At this point he probably would just be glad to take his $127M that he's earned and spend retirement with his kids. Probably making the occasional return to Chicago (next hitting coach?), but spending a lot of time in his 16,000 square foot house.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 11:52 PM) I think he'll sign a two-year deal with another team. Maybe 3 years. If he feels like his back can hold up, how can he resist making another 15 million? I bet he gets 5 mill a year from somebody for 2-3 years. Jeff Francouer has been in the big leagues the past several years for gosh sakes. Even this current Paulie is as good a hitter as a Francouer. You're crazy for thinking Paulie would get that deal or take it. It's almost a lock he retires this offseason. Just appreciate him while we can.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 08:10 PM) This is the most I have watched of a Sox game in a long time. I thought everyone said they were s***ty? The fans give them energy. It's the fan's fault they haven't been good this year.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 08:05 PM) Well I'm getting the feeling that Adam might not make it to them on waivers...not sure about Alex. Might as well try still.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 04:26 PM) Rick FTW Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN 9m Rick Hahn asked about ARod and didn't want to comment. Said "You've seen how this team has played: I've got 99 problems and ARod isn't one." Subtle dig at Scott Boras?

Once I hit the acceptance stage of grief, this season became much more amusing.

QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 04:08 PM) I was recently diagnosed with adult ADHD. What a weight off of my shoulders. There are so many things that I do (and cannot do) that I have long felt were my character flaws and I am now realizing are explained by this disease and can be controlled with sensible treatment. I'm feeling very impatient about my upcoming appointments with my psychiatrist and counselor, but that's a symptom of ADHD too I want to say "congrats," but that seems inappropriate. So, good luck!

Veteran hitter most likely to be here for 2015 season
Quin replied to Jake's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Keppinger. Paulie will likely retire. The other three will likely be traded between now and the trade deadline. -
