Again...channel? -
QUOTE (Cknolls @ Jul 13, 2013 -> 09:46 PM) I am inviting all libs over for a pity party. You guys need to clean your diapers. I knew he would be found innocent. The prosecution put a poor case together. But still, go get f***ed.

Well, that's disgusting.
-
So Nate posted a photo of him rocking a Bulls hat on Instagram.

What channel is the game on? I can't get it on MLB.TV -
While the quality sucks, man, BG used to have a smooth game. Wish we could teleport Bulls Ben Gordon to the modern day and have him off the bench for Butler.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 10:47 PM) Yikes. Kind of scary, Fathom, but predictable. What a coincidence you read that right before the trade. I thought some people were saying Thornton had real value. This screams 'salary dump' to me. Of course I can't prove the prospect we got will never pan out. Sounds to me like management hopes he's the next Konerko. I hope he's not the next Dunn (a K machine). Wasn't Mitchell a first-round pick? Another example of a draft pick gone bad? You mean the draft is an inexact science, especially with the White Sox? Great line, Dick Allen. Nice line. My take: Salary dump. Salary dump. Salary dump. The guy is 22? I'd say either he plays for our team by the time he's a young 24, or forget him. $3M really doesn't count as a salary dump. Thornton had OK value by himself in a trade. More in a package. He's a 36 year old reliever who is on the downside of his career and we got a new addition to our Top 10 prospects.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 10:43 PM) That's what I thought. Only thing is Thompson plays a good CF, while Jacobs plays an adequate LF. That's a big difference. I agree. A 36-year-old Thornton wasn't very relevant to this team considering the standings. I think it's a very good move. After doing some reading I have Jacobs at No. 6 in the system behind Johnson, Thompson, Anderson, Hawkins and Phegley. He's clearly more advanced than a guy like Keon Barnum, who is just about a consensus top 10 prospect. The more I hear the more this sounds like a nice get after my initial reaction of looking up his stats.
-
Any hunch on where Jacobs would rank in the Sox farm system?

Though the past few years were rough for Matt, he was once the best non-closer relief pitcher in baseball. One of KW's best trades ever and Coop's best fix. Best of luck in Boston to Matt!
-
Matt was awesome, but he lost his dominating abilities. Thanks for the years Matt!

I know Randall Delgado was mentioned in the Peavy thread. Is he still the prospect he was with ATL or should he not be someone the Sox look for as part of a deal.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 07:27 PM) In my opinion he has. He does walk some guys, he gets into jams, but he battles his way through them. I think he has the will to win because he just battles every time he's out there. With Sale, Santiago and Quintana. This could be a very special group in a couple years. #TWTW

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 07:18 PM) Sale is 24 though. I don't see the rebuilding taking 5 years unless Santiago and Quintana aren't the SP's they have shown they are/can be. In other words, the heaviest of lifting in this rebuild might already be done with that rotation top 3. Marty being optimistic and on the same side of arguments with me is weird. But I'm ok with it.

Bummed I don't get MLB Network at school. I like Hawk. He's earned the right to retire when he wants and I'm hoping that's soon. And I love huge homers like him and Stacey King. But dear lord listen to a Royals broadcast. Rex Hudler may be the worst announcer of all time.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 06:47 PM) lol, who wouldn't?
-
Just chiming in to say I'd take the Sox rotation over the Cubs farm system.
-
So, it seems like everyone can agree Peavy, Rios, and Crain are likely to be gone. Dunn, Danks, Thornton, Lindstrom, De Aza and Alexei are also trading chips that could be gone. So let's assume they all get traded (big fire sale!). Here are the in house guys I'd expect on the field next year, minus bench and most of the bullpen because that's a crapshoot. Rotation: Sale Santiago Quintana Johnson Axelrod C - Phegley 2B - Beckham 3B - Gillaspie LF - Viciedo Bullpen: Reed Jones Castro Webb So...a lot of holes to plug if everyone got traded. I'd look for a right handed starter to replace Axelrod in the rotation. Then lefty bats are needed, well any bats are needed, but my point stands. Interesting thing: Despite the Sox woes, it seems they have a lot players that can cash in on for good packages...which makes this year even sadder.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 04:51 PM) Konerko=Kirk Gibson or Roy Hobbs? John Elway.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 12, 2013 -> 06:07 AM) Well here's something. Buster Olney tweeted that the DBacks have been looking at Peavy and that the Sox have had scouts at their games to watch Randall Delgado. What you guys think? I'd take Delgado. You'd get this starting five next year: Sale - Delgado - Quintana - Johnson - Santiago For a rebuilding team, that's a nice start.
-
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 10:56 PM) Here's what I've been told...(one source), FWIW - Close on a couple deals (real names exchanged) - Sale is not untouchable - Several guys are on their way out just to be gone (out of favor with RV) Better be one of the biggest hauls ever.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 10:26 PM) Phegley won't be a lift and pull .210 hitter, I can promise you that. He might a s***ty .210 hitter or a .300 hitter with some pop, but he won't be an all or nothing guy. He'll much more likely be all....or nothing. If that makes sense. He won't be a strike out or homerun guy. He will likely be an all around player or a complete scrub. Correct?
-
I'm part of the "always go for it" camp. f*** this year though.
-
Also, I'm actually in favor of trying to get Melo if you couldn't get Love.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 11, 2013 -> 06:37 PM) Ouch. That's a bargain and a nice combo forward to spell KG and Pierce and provide a little injury insurance. Brilliant move by him to turn down $10 million this year. Russian Mob makes you do that. Also, if you took Bulls draft picks (as in players the Bulls took out of the draft, not picked in their exact slot) since 2000, here's a roster you could have of active players. PG: Rose/Hinrich/Duhon SG: Butler/Gordon/Thabo SF: Deng/Snell or Artest/Johnson PF: Gibson/Thomas/Murphy or Mirotic C : Noah/Chandler/Asik Oh no the humanity! You probably can't find a team better constructed off of their own draft picks. Jesus Christ. Maybe the Cavs since they lucked into both LeBron and Kyrie.
