  1. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 28, 2013 -> 01:48 AM) I think Murphy will definitely make the roster, which leaves us with 11 players. That leaves room for 2 FA's. I'm guessing another big man and a SG/SF type. We seem plenty set at PG with Rose, Hinrich, and Teague. Rose/Hinrich/Teague Butler/Hinrich/FA Deng/Snell Boozer/Gibson/Murphy Noah/Nazr/FA Malcom Thomas is signed.
  2. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 10:40 PM) Safe to say, this thread wouldn't exist if AJ weren't a player on the 2005 team. Post more.
  3. I don't pretend that I follow hockey closely, but I've paid attention to the Hawks this year. They made my city proud, so I am happy.
  4. Deng for #3 + Okafor is being discussed. So take my previous thing and Oladipo (or McLemore) still makes sense. Only reason I said Oladipo is because he's the Bulls type of player and I could see them doing it in this draft.
  5. People keep citing the White Sox history with closers, but what everyone fails to account for is that law of averages will eventually kick in there.
  6. Time for the NBA2k trade machine hat... Bulls In: #1 Pick Cavs In: Deng, #20 Then... Bulls In: Kevin Garnett Nets In: Boozer Celtics In: Humphries, Brooks, Teague Bulls then buy a 2nd round pick to go along with their 2nd rounder. The Mizzou fan in me would love to see them draft Pressey and Oriakhi, but any PG and big will do. Sign Pierce Sign Marco and Nazr for the vet minimum. PG: Rose/Hinrich/2nd Rounder SG: Oladipo/Bellinelli SF: Butler/Pierce PF: Garnett/Taj/Thomas C : Noah/Nazr/2nd Rounder
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 09:43 AM) You might be overestimating Quintana a bit. We're not quite the Cardinals, A's, Giants or Braves in terms of pitching talent. It's not Quintana alone, it's Quintana paired with Sale.
  8. Chris Sale may be one of the few legitimately untouchable players in all of major league baseball in that no team could or would want to offer up a fair package, let alone an overpay that the Sox would be looking for. Also, a lot of teams would kill to have a rotation with building blocks like Sale and Quintana. Throw in Peavy who won't need to be an ace, Danks, Santiago, and Johnson and the Sox rotation is one thing you don't touch.
  9. While I enjoy the pun of fire Sale, unless a team with a great farm system comes calling and offering their top 10 prospects, no.
  10. Rex Hudler is the worst announcer ever.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 22, 2013 -> 05:30 PM) Were Howry, Foulke, Damaso Marte, Shingo Takatsu, Jenks (as a reliever and not a starter), Matt Thornton (as a reliever and not a starter), Sergio Santos (as a reliever and not a SS) or Hector Santiago ever #1 prospects? The irony is the most ballyhooed closer prospect was Koch, who was the biggest failure for the SOX. Tom Gordon and Dustin Hermanson were also once top 50 prospects in the game, but that was earlier in their careers as starting pitchers. And the other key difference is the team's top priority going into 2014 realistically isn't competing for the division crown, like it still was when Reed assumed that role....unless something changes dramatically in the next 9 months that we've seen no sign of yet from the new Hahn/JR administration. The point is there's no reason in our recent history to believe we don't have another closer who will be even better sitting somewhere in the minors....whether it's Webb, Santos Rodriguez, Petricka, Simon Castro, Rienzo, our 2nd draft pick this year, Hansen, he's undoubtedly already there and we just don't realize it yet. And there is no guarantee any of those could step in and be a good closer next year (Petricka? Really?) Thornton and Santiago were terrible closers. Shingo was brought over from Japan, so it's not like was an unknown. Really, the only two you can point to are Jenks and Sergio.
  12. The difference between Santos being traded and Reed being traded is Reed was our #1 prospect at the time and Daniel Webb certainly is not.
  13. Journey did take 4 years to make, but I can't see any scenario where it would use a kinect.
  14. f*** LeBron. I still don't like him. I acknowledge his greatness though. He finally passed Hakeem to reach #9 for me. Next up? Russell. He'll need a few DPOYs or at least 3 rings.
