Some think it's like the NBA or NFL and these guys should be up after a couple of years. I've heard at one time in the older days of baseball a guy stayed in the minors for 5 years. If Moncada doesn't become a stud there will be the debate of being brought up too soon.
This is why I don't like former great players in any sport become managers for their team. Ozzie was a great SS, Ventura was a great 3B, most people have never seen game film of Mike Ditka.
I'm getting more familiar with the AA team but I was wondering how many of you pay a great deal of attention to the Dash? Who are the guys to check out? Of all the teams I've watched I've enjoyed watching them since they are they only Sox winning organization.
That all depends if the scouts get it right or lucky and so does the development of players. Seeing so many guys that don't know or can do the fundamentals doesn't make me confident.
You also have to hit with your prospects. It would be great if they got that rare impact player like Frank Thomas or Mike Trout. Plus they seem to fear sending a guy back down if they aren't cutting it. It's hard to be all ga-ga over a rebuild when you see the same inconsistencies in this organization. There is no shortage of baseball dumb in this organization. Baseball fundamentals should be innate instead of they aint.
I have the opportunity to watch baseball year round. I live down the street from the Sox facility. It's a bit difficult to go and watch when it's 105 at night. I've only been to spring training night games. My favorite is the fall league. When MLB is over there's still some baseball to watch. Kids also play baseball in Nov. and Dec.
