  1. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 09:37 PM) Additional stat: Sox have now scored three runs or less in 54 of 114 games played. 47%. Doesn't matter who they bring in, doesn't matter what team they come from, a culture of losing has now gripped this organization. Nothing changes until major changes are made on the baseball side of the front office and in the philosophy of the organization. Mark Also getting Sox retreads to run everything. Plus filling holes with career NL players hasn't worked.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 09:27 PM) It's telling that it took four plus months for them to notice how the professionalism exemplified by Morneau was sore lacking at the big league level... He looks like a guy who is glad to be back playing baseball. I think it also helps getting guys from winning organizations.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 08:38 PM) Fulmer's velocity is down and his command is atrocious. Looks nothing like a starting candidate. Yet Cooper gets a free pass from the fan base.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 08:01 PM) Fulmer is very unimpressive. Definite trade bait this offseason if a team values him as a starter. You have hopes that a GM will not see the same we do? He really should be back in the minors.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 02:14 PM) A Chicago-based group led by Thad Bosley is thought to be one of the favorites... I hope not.
  6. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) WAR: 0.7 0.0 -0.2 -0.9 -0.1 0.0 Total: -0.5 WAR for $17m. And I'd argue a good bit worse than -0.5 when accounting for Navarro's framing. Yikes. I'd be curious what $25M would buy.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 09:37 PM) I love how much wimpy loves watching and announcing baseball One of the reasons I tuned in. I could probably tolerate watching a bad game with him and Stone.
  8. Stupid base running is a White Sox trademark. It's even practiced in the minors.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 08:53 PM) 22 blown saves. All alone in first now. Can't close out any games against KC it seems. What new? Might as well finish in the bottom ten so we can argue all offseason about Hahn protecting the pick when we're supposedly in win now mode again. We can't even deal Morneau because it will be blocked. Take that out of the equation would the fan base be for blowing it up.
  10. No clutch with this pen. I still think Jones is a mental midget. There are no stats for that.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 08:43 PM) I'm going to cry if Q doesn't get a W tonight. Or scream. One of the two. He might have a better chance if he does it on his own. Otherwise it's Robins attempt at over managing.
  12. Great situational hitting by Abreau.
  13. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 09:44 PM) Call him up and put him at closer, he can't be any worse then the s*** show we have there now. Then again stink spreads on this team.
  14. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 09:22 PM) Frazier, clutch? How many of his bombs are solo shots? This one doesn't mean s***. Well sometimes people failed to get on base. I think he will be a better hitter after a year of AL pitching.
  15. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 06:11 PM) He's got $20MM in the bank so maybe he can go back to Cuba if he can't handle being away for his family. A communist government would love to have that money.
  16. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 10:33 PM) We've seen them win in our lifetimes. I wanna see a run where they are competitive making it fun to watch everyday of every season. Obviously I want them to win the whole thing again, but I just want to see them be good again. Well we did get to see a nice April for a change.
  17. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 10:01 PM) Not me. I'd almost sell my soul to have a run like they had from 51-67. Knowing they were going to win more then they lost at the end of the year, knowing they had a reasonable chance to make the expanded playoffs more then once every seven years and knowing that fans and the media actually cared. You can't win the World Series if you don't get to the playoffs first. That's the initial step...after that it's a crapshoot, especially in a short series. Mark Dynasties don't exist anymore. I do wonder if Braves fans miss those old days.
  18. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 06:46 PM) But as many on this forum will tell you, if you take away Shields bad starts he's a decent middle of the rotation arm. That's like saying Albers is a decent arm out of the pen.
  19. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 05:34 PM) We all know Shields will not opt out of his contract. Unless he hates ridiculous amounts of money. Money he will not see in the open market. Another bone headed acquisition by the Hahn/KW death machine. What really grinds my gears is that the White Sox were in an incredible tail spin when they acquired him AND Shields himself was going through the worst rough patch of his career. Golly gee, that's exactly what a team in disarray needs! Hahn had an opportunity to redeem himself by selling high before the trade deadline but he failed... again. His excuse "He is under contract control for more than one season" and apparently teams shy away from that midseason, which is new to me?!? In most cases, isn't that more attractive for buyers at trade deadlines? We all know this team needs to hit the reset button. These half measures and retooling attempts have been crap. Can JR just man up and do whats best for this organization and let the Hahn/KW death machine go? Sadly, I doubt it. Status quo reigns supreme on the Southside JR is part of that.
  20. QUOTE (TRU @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 01:21 PM) He will be 35 years old come December.. Barring injury, he will complete this season with 10 straight years of 30+ Starts and 200+ innings I think its very possible he could get a 3 yr deal based on track record alone.. Never under estimate an owner to overpay for mediocre and below for pitching. The Sale contract is one of the best in sports.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 04:19 PM) Abreu's son was at the game today, and it was the first time Abreu saw him since the winter when he was back in Cuba. That was the first time he saw him in 3 years. 3 hits today, has been hot lately. Maybe a reason for his decline this season. It is possible for players to have an off year.
  22. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) At this rate Shields is going to LOSE 20 games this year. Great pickup Rick! And how about that Albers and Kahnle combo? Sox traded a kid who looks like he's got a real chance for that stiff Kahnle who throws 100, problem is he can't find the plate. Mark The second coming of Tony Pena and Mike McDougal.
  23. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 12:58 PM) I'd like to see what the Sox scouting reports said re his 10 run debacle in Seattle. I mean Rick Hahn did have his scouts actually watching him pitch, didn't he? Another Hahn effort that sets the organization back....and he overpaid, as always, even if Shields pitched okay. JR has eaten the following Rick Hahn contracts: Latos, Keppinger, Rollins, Bonifacio and now it will have to be Shields. He also at KW's Danks contract. Hard to criticize JR. But it's also hard to see how he doesn't address the mess his VP and GM have created. I wonder if JR did that as well. What we see in both GMs is a lightning in a bottle approach. That point to JR having a hand in this.
  24. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 01:34 PM) Sox scouting department may be the worst in MLB, they continually suck year after year. When they said Avi was a 5 tool player that was enough for me. The development isn't any better. I wonder how he would turn out if he was a Tiger.
