  1. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 12:54 PM) Agreed. I don't get why people are so eager to trade the farm or a cheap, young, productive player like Alexei. We will need some cost-certainty in the future if we want to keep guys like Floyd, Danks and Quentin long-term. Plus, you're only getting Gonzalez for two years. The chance of resigning him would be near impossible. Also, you're trading your starting shortstop, a setup man, and a possible backup catcher. They will make rougly $2 million next season. We already have limited funds to fill several needs for 2010 and making this trade would increase payroll and create more holes. You'd really have to roll the dice on cheap, less-talented players filling some of these holes. I don't see it working out. Why is it impossible to resigning him ? If you offer him a extension now at say 140 mil over 7 years or the same contract Detroit gave to Cabrera should easily do it . And how is it that we can't afford him or who ever nobody on this board knows what our budget will be . I read all over this board how we have a great starting rotation maybe the best in baseball but now the sox management won't or can't spend any money to fix our offense and bullpen so they will do it ONLY by cheap low cost players . Well that doesn't make much sense . I'm not saying there going to spend like drunken sailors but to say they won't or can't spend is ridiculous . And if we can't get a player like Adrian Gonzales then why even bother to compete with the Yankees Red sox dodgers angel teams of the world . We need a impact player somewhere in our lineup if we can not put a stronger lineup out there then we had last year . Then I'm sorry we won't win the world series i don' t care if we have 7 great starters . I agree starting pitching is important but we have to score runs to or does losing 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, games appeal to you . The Twins lineup is better then our lineup is and for the most part there starting pitching pitched well to win a game or 2 against the Yankees . Anyway i for one hope we do some real moves this off season not just trying to resign Pods and going after guys like Hawpe and other bums . Take care all
  2. yeah boy this will be funny . I LOVE IT
  3. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 12:40 AM) There’s something about that tone I find a bit patronizing. I recognize that Getz is the starter; it doesn’t mean I have to agree with it. Just like I recognize that you don’t think of much of Nix as a player, doesn’t mean I have to agree with that either. i think overall nix is a better all around player then getz .
  4. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 06:57 AM) Looks like Wise isn't coming back.... funny Merry Christmas everyone!
  5. i was reading a something from a site called palehose and they were suggesting trading for Brian Roberts . On another site they suggested trading FLOYD CQ Jordan Danks to Baltimore for Adam Jones and Brian Roberts . i didn't make these trade ideas so don't rip me . I am just letting people know here what others are saying . take care all
  6. WHY TRADE FOR BRADLEY ? Much better to trade for a guy like Josh Hamilton . He is a risk but not a expensive one . And if he has a bounce back season we got a very good player the rangers have a lot of younger outfielders Borbon Boggs Murphy Cruz . So getting Hamilton is not impossible maybe 2 pitching prospects would do it . plus i think the rangers will resign Marlon Bryd .
  7. I wouldn't trade danks but if i did it would be for a player like adrian gonzales or hanely rameriz .
  8. i like we can use a real good hitter from the farm . seems he has some real potential .
  9. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Sep 27, 2009 -> 10:54 AM) So was DRod last year, but they can get taken again can't they?i believe they can be taken again
  10. QUOTE (scenario @ Oct 18, 2009 -> 10:19 AM) Only one guy. Jesus Avila (second baseman who played for Great Falls this year) is playing for Mochis. ah ok thanks
  11. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Oct 19, 2009 -> 05:36 AM) In all fairness, when you look at Linebrink you have a guy who is vastly overpaid but nonetheless is still someone who has value on a baseball field, at least until the All-Star break rolls around. He's not worth anywhere near the $10.5M he is owed, but he is still worth about $2-4M or so over two years just based off of his first halves and his potential to be good for a whole year. He's not a clubhouse cancer either. Bradley OTOH, as a garbage defender and an injury risk who is coming off of a pathetic offensive season, is a straight release candidate who would be worth about the league minimum on a one year deal with incentives. And because of his character issues, even taking him on basically for free and hoping for a payoff in production is a risk in itself that a lot of teams wouldn't be prepared to take. If Kenny made a Linebrink-for-Bradley deal where the Cubs eat enough salary to make the contracts equal, then he would have to do so with his finger already hovering over the release + eat salary button, which would mean giving up on any potential value Linebrink could supply, as little as it may be compared to his contract. The Sox IMO would need to get back a player who would alleviate those concerns, so that way if the Sox did immediately release Bradley, they'd still get a player who they believe would be at least as productive as a halfway decent Linebrink, if not better. Jake Fox, Sam Fuld, Micah Hoffpauir, etc. would not work for me at all. And given the Cubs' desperation to dump Bradley, my starting point would be either Marmol, Guzman, or Cashner. If that doesn't work, then let the Cubs eat that entire salary and release him. interesting Marmol or guzman
  12. I would only trade buehrle if we were getting proven major league talent in return and if the trade would make us better . I wouldnt trade him for prospects .But there are no players on this team i feel are untouchable even beckham for the right player or players i trade him .
  13. How about a trade for josh hamilton ? Yeah theres risk but alot of good also we could maybe get him fairly cheap after a down year and with the fact the rangers have alot of young OFS borbon boggs murphy cruz . possibly resigning marlon byrd so he could be had for a couple of decent prospects and could provide us with a very good OF in right an provide lefthanded power if he can stay healthy. Just a thought what do any of you think ?
  14. do we have anyboby playing in the mexican league ?
  15. QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 17, 2009 -> 03:32 AM) MLB.com has gamecasts of the games. For example, here's Game 4. Danks and Viciedo both with 1st inning RBI doubles. Both later scored as well. thanks
  16. Flowers, Torres , Retherford ,Morel, danks, possibly hudson .
  17. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 10:27 PM) What prospects will Kenny trade this offseason? Make your predictions for the top 5 prospects which are most likely to be sent packing and whoever is most right at the end of the offseason wins an internet smiley from me. The prize looks like this: Mine are: 1. CJ Retherford - he should be a hot topic this offseason and there's a logjam (but I'd really like to keep this guy) 2. Nevin Griffith - could see him going in a 3-for-1 type deal 3. Brent Morel - good as gone if Gordon stays at 3B 4. Tyler Flowers - if we make a blockbuster then Flowers will have to head the package 5. Miguel Gonzalez - just put himself on the map, so that means Kenny is probably going to send him out send all those 5 plus hudson for adrian gonzales ? possible ?maybe ?
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 13, 2009 -> 08:20 AM) That is an excellent bat flip. Do not get in the way of his bat. Seriously. good stuff
  19. hope he rises fast in our system i love what he could possibly be .
  20. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Oct 16, 2009 -> 06:57 AM) Dayan 3-5 with a walk and a homerun. That's what i like to see. It seems like a lot of these pitchers are pretty outmatched. where can i listen or watch these games on the internet ?
  21. i think our bullpen overall wasnt as bad as people think except for linebrink so bringing back dotel for the right price would be ok with me . our bullpen was hurt more do to lack of run support they had really no margin for error . oh and our defense hurt much more then our bullpen so for me some tweaking of that pen should be all we need . but better defense and more run production is our real problems

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 12:33 PM) I'm trying to get this as I know you loved Pods this year and I have as well for what he did. You do realize that this was his damn near career year right? You do realize that he probably will never duplicate the numbers he put up correct? You do realize that his SB % has gone down, not to mention his baseball I.Q. is shot do you? Hell this is the same for A.J. as well. If we had Joe Mauer waiting in the wings, I want A.J. gone this winter seeing as his trade value will never get any higher. I don't know if I (or the sox org.) want to trust Flowers to man it just yet. A.J. will probably never duplicate the numbers he just put up either. But he's probably our only and best option we got right now. I can't say that about Pods. Pods also said he wants to test the FA market as well wanting to see how much doe he can rack up seeing in his career he might not get this opportunity again. But I do agree that the Pods haters need to lay off especially for what he did this year.. and he will be 34 years old . i dont hate pods but we can atleast try to do better

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 12:21 PM) We could definitely do better than Getz as a lead-off man. The issue I've been going on about on the board is that it doesn't make sense to use so much of our limited payroll to make an improvement over Getz. Getz is very capable of being a solid if unspectacular lead-off man. IMO, the main areas on this team that we need to see improvement in is our OF defense and production from the middle of the order. A healthy CQ will help the offense a ton, but Dye will be gone, Thome is gone, and Konerko isn't exactly a #4 hitter anymore. Rather than spend talent and money on someone to be better than Getz we should look for a big, scary power hitter and an above-average defensive RF. good point say like Adrian Gonzales ? I for one feel we need to trade for him send the padres flowers ,hudson , viecido and 10 other guys they want out of our farm system . I MEAN IF YOU LOOK AT OUR TEAM were set at SS 3RD CF 1ST WITH Gonzales , even dh or lf with CQ . THEN our starters of peavy danks floyd even buehrle were set for atleast 2 to 3 years we could always sign a catcher next year or resign AJ and with konerkos 12 mil coming off the books we could fill in pieces here and there until we restock our farm in a year or 2 . i believe most prospects are really suspects . ANYWAY KENNY GET ADRIAN

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 11:20 AM) They went into the season with Dewayne Wise as the leadoff man and a backup plan consisting of a rookie who probably projects out to be a pretty good utility man down the road and a 12 year old boy who thinks he's Ryan Howard. Just because it's hard to find a guy who can bat first, put up a .350+ OBP and not kill you in the other facets of the game (this is about the bare minimum one should expect a contending team's leadoff hitter to provide) doesn't mean that such a move is acceptable ('07 was nearly as bad.) Kudos to KW for finding a nice replacement 35 games in, sure he's not good at much but he put up a league average OBP for his spot in the lineup so I'm not openly complaining about his 2009 offensive production but I'm also not going to be content with them bringing him back next year since in the end I believe him to be an overall mediocre baseball player. I'm sure it's tough to find a leadoff guy and I'm sure KW is out there trying to find his man but he's not doing a very good job. What bothers me the most is the hyperbole that people use when talking about Podsednik since apparently they don't know what a truly good leadoff hitter looks like. When he's being talked about as a good option as the leadoff hitter next year because his OBP was very good for a leadoff man - despite being about average for an AL leadoff man in '09 and about 10 points higher than what OCab gave you last year in that role - and at the same time just ignoring the glaring, unacceptable shortcomings in his game or making weakass excuses for them then I'm going to get upset because it offends me as a baseball observer. If it's not possible to find a guy who can play a little defense, competently run the bases and put up an OBP of .350 or higher then go with Beckham for a year (he should provide this and more) and fill the 2 open lineup spots (LF/DH) with competent major leaguers. If push comes to shove and he's going to be in the lineup anyway stick Getz in the leadoff role, he should give you an OBP around .340. GREAT post an i totally agree with you i would even take nix over pods if i had to pick between those 2 . As for me i dont want Pods back not even as a 4thOF Kotsay is a much better choice .
