  1. When your big league team lost yet another frustrating game, and your entire farm system had losing days, you can't really be optimistic about the future.
  2. Well at least he can still tweet about it on his phone, so his hand is fine?
  3. We need to Bale indeed! And I would trade Alex Rios for any female! Btw, this thread has officially been hijacked. /thread.
  4. In other words, we flipped the Great 24 year old Daniel Hudson for 33 year old Jason Frasor? Terrribbbbleee! I don't understand the logic of trading a starter away if we are going to compete now. If trade goes through, we will be down to 5 starters plus Sale. And I am not sure if anyone will put faith in Peavy to stay healthy for the rest of the year, not to mention his strings of bad starts after the complete game. Unless there is a trade for another starter (Beachy?) on the horizon, if Peavy goes down, we would have to replace him with someone from Triple A. But wouldn't it be a less risky move if we replace a reliever from Triple A? P.S. Brian Bruney has been a very good RHP out of the pen lately.
  5. Is Rangel Ravelo any good? Kind of ring the bell as Jon Gilmore. Young 3B, good contact hitter with minimal power.
  6. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 12:37 AM) The guy who hits first is only guaranteed to leadoff once a game. In the AL it's best to have a good obp in front of yhope boppers. We need to score runs. The slappy NL crap is why we have a hell of a time scoring runs. Konerko needs protection more than guillen needs a Jerry Owens clone up top. So who do you want in the lead of spot if we replace Pierre with Viceido? Yes, we would prefer a guy with good OBP in the lead spot, but who do we have? Konerko, Quentin, AJ or Viceido? Do you want any of those guys leading off? Those are really stationed slow footed guys who are not going to help you on the base paths. Didn't we just moved away from the live and die by the home run model and tried to incorporate more speed into the lineup a few years ago? I don't see a team that currently sports a good offense in the majors without a legit lead off hitter in the lineup. We have guys who have a little bit more speed, in Rios, Beckham, Lilibridge, Morel, and Alexei. Those guys outside of Alexei are not hitting well enough to merit the top spot. So I am just saying why replace Viceido with Pierre and having to reshuffle your whole batting order, when you can just swap Pierre with Milledge. At this point, Milledge still have good potential and could fill the lead off hitter admirably. If we bring up Viceido, we have to replace Dunn with him in the lineup.
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 12:07 AM) Lastings Milledge has the capability of turning into an average to slightly above average bat. Dayan Viciedo has the chance to be the f***ing 5 hitter on this team. I know who I am playing in LF. If/when they get eliminated, you can dick around with it, but Viciedo is the only option at this point in time. We are getting terrible production from our lead off spot. Viceido is not gonna solve that problem unless we put him in Dunn's spot. If we replace Pierre with Viceido, who is gonna lead off for us? Alexei? Lillibridge? Rios? We can just easily swap Pierre with Milledge and try to address the lead off spot issue. I like Viceido, but we can't put him in LF unless we can find a passable lead off option from another position. Also, I am not completely sure on this, but Milledge's defense in any of the outfield spots has got to be better than what Viceido has to offer.
  8. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 11:37 AM) Walker is hitting .250/.357/.375 in the Alaskan Summer League with 10 SO's and 3 BB's through 24 at bats. Even thought it's the summer league, but it's Alaskan, he just hasn't heat up yet
  9. We weren't a good first half team this season. But if guys like Dunn, Rios, Pierre and Beckham can get back up during the second half, we would easily top our first half winning % in the second half.
  10. Lastings Milledge continues to hit. Average climbing up to .280 while sporting a great K/BB ratio, and good numbers on the base paths. I would like to see them bring him up and give him a few days at LF and lead off to see what he can do. He has had great potential a few years back, and I think he can still turn into an everyday player in the majors.
  11. Quitely, Lastings Milledge is hitting .421 with a 1.12 OPS in the last ten games.
  12. Mirotic is more comparable to Stojakovic and Gallinari than Kukoc. However, I do think he will be a slightly better defender, athlete, and passer than both. I think in a couple years once he rounds out as a player, he will be an excellent trading asset if the Bulls decide not to keep him.
  13. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 04:39 PM) I doubt the players take winning this trophy all that seriously. And I know for a fact that receiving a participation trophy isn't nearly as fun or good as receiving a first place trophy. As I recall, winner of the series takes the cup and also $1 million. Just think if Reinsdoff is willing spend the entire amount directly on the draft...
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:52 PM) What? This shocks me coming from you. Bosh in '10 was better than Rose in '11. Share some of that purple drink? Feasting in a no defense, phx / gsw style offense scheme is better than playing under a defensive oriented slow paced offense? In that case Monte Ellis is better than Kobe, DWade and Derrick Rose.
  15. holy s***, 30 pages of posts just for the draft? At this rate, we would exceed last year's post total before the lock out ends! I am not too excited about what Jimmy Butler brings to the table. He's a hard worker, but what he brings to the table is extremely similar to Deng or Brewer. Hearing about his story through his coach Buzz Williams at Marquette on the Score, it does sound like Bulter could be the type of guy who can become a cult hero here in Chicago overnight. The Mirotic pick is very intriguing however. Judging from the scouting report, he seems like a 3D version of Kyle Korver, in that he is an excellent set shooter, but he can also put the ball on the floor, post up, and has a variety of moves in his arsenal. He also has great basketball IQ and seems to just find a way to score, like Luis Scola, and he can hold his own against other league average small forwards on the defensive end.
  16. Dude is listed as 6'0 tall and 150 lbs, that is like Chris Sale skinny. But a lefty who can hit upper 90s, has control issues with over 1 BB/IP, Aaron Poreda anyone?
  17. Tyler Flowers 0-0 with 4 walks. LOL dude must have a sore should tonight with all the lifting of the bat.
  18. Is Pierre's contract due this offseason? Looks like the dude has lost a few steps on the bases. With his atrocious bat and mediocre speed, I rather have a platoon of Lillibridge and Tyler Kuhn at LF next season.
  19. Paulie will finish with a team high 32 HRs. Though TCQ was on pace to hit 50 HRs and drive in 120 until he gets into a tirade and breaks his own nose. Adam Dunn will finish with 30 HRS with OPS of .850 and make KW seem less of an idiot. The Danks brother will finally play together this season. But it comes when D1 gets demoted down to Triple A The Humber H2 will finish with a record of 15-9 with an ERA of 3.68 Gordon Beckham will tear it up from here on and the whole board, even the naysayers believe he has finally arrived Sox will finish with 88 wins, and yet not make the playoffs.
  20. I'd say it has been one of the most awful 4 game experience for me as a Bulls fan ever. Miami's achille's heel has been their inability to beat elite teams and their inability (Lebron's) to finish out close games. The Bulls on the other hand, were mediocre at times against weak teams and has been superb against elite competition, they excelled in close games because D-Rose often times single handedly wins the game for the team. But it seems like the trend has reversed completely this series. Lebron was ultra aggressive and got some big time buckets down the stretch, and Rose has failed time and time over again in end of the game situation. They embarrassed us by beating us at our own game on our home court, twice. That, plus the fact that our offense has been completely been shut down really makes this series one to forget. I really hope this will not be the trend going forward vs the Heat. The only way for us to even compete with the Heat is to get an all star level SG, namely Ginobili or Eric Gordon. Even that, we aren't guaranteed to beat the Heat in the playoffs. Noah is garbage offensively when it matters, and Boozer is probably the worst big name playoff performer in the league today. If we have to beat the Heat, we HAVE TO get Dwight Howard. The Bulls know that, D Rose knows that, and I think Howard knows that. He can only beat the Heat if he join the Thunder or the Bulls. With that, here are my fantasy trade proposals that will help push us past the heat but not a chance it's gonna happen. Trade Noah, Boozer, Asik, and a future first round pick to the Magic for Howard, Duhon, and Daniel Orton. We have to get Howard, because Heat can stop D Rose, or Howard, but not both at the same time. Trade Duhon, Orton, and a first round pick this year for Channing Frye. Frye would theoretically fit well with Howard and Rose because he can stretch the defense. Trade a first round pick this year, and a future first round pick for Aaron Affalo. I really like this guy. He has become a really good shooter, handles and doesn't turn the ball over at all, and best of all, he is one of the few guys that can guard Wade well. Sign a guy like JJ Barea or Mike Bibby to play the backup point. CJ Watson might be a decent defender, but mainly because he's in Thib's system, he is garbage when it comes to knocking down long shots and playing the point. Bring back Kurt Thomas to play back up center or draft one in the 2nd round. The lineup would look something like Howard / Thomas Frye / Gibson Deng / Korver Affalo / Brewer / Bogans Rose / Barea or Bibby We have to studs who demands double team every possession, and guys who can stretch the defense and yet still one of the top defensive units in the league. As bad as it sounds, getting Howard may be our only chance to get past the Heat.
  21. QUOTE (Felix @ May 10, 2011 -> 09:43 PM) The funny thing about this is that Josh Smith shot better (albeit by 1%) from 16-23 feet than Rose did this year. He also had the same eFG from 3 as Rose this year. So really, any Bulls fan making fun of Josh Smith's jump shot... Smith's eFG% on jump shots is 42.8%, and 44.1% for Rose. I don't think teams will ever need to double team Smoove on the perimeter, while Rose faces constant double teams and traps. Rose also have the immense responsibility of creating shots on the perimeter with shot clock winding down. And please don't even bring up the 3 point shooting story, Rose has more than twice as many makes from 3 than Smith, and if you want the real story, take off the 30 miss 3 point shots from half court or full court heaves Rose took at the end of quarters. Yes. 30.
  22. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ May 10, 2011 -> 09:42 AM) The All Defensive Teams were announced last night: 1st Team (total votes): Dwight Howard 56 Rajon Rondo 39 LeBron James 38 Kobe Bryant 33 Kevin Garnett 33 2nd Team: Tony Allen 23 Chris Paul 18 Tyson Chandler 17 Andre Iguodala 15 Joakim Noah 15 Rose had the most votes of players who missed with 14; Deng had 11; Bogans had 2 Kobe and Garnett each received their 9th selection, tying Jordan and Gary Payton for most all-time. NBA.com article Kobe getting all first team honor is ridiculous. Just about every person who watches basketball knows his defense has been really bad this year. It showed throughout much of the playoffs. His defensive plus and minuses is one of the worst in the league IIRC. Tony Allen has a better defender than Kobe hands down. This is almost as bad as Jeter getting Gold Gloves year in and year out.
  23. It's official! D-Rose is the youngest MVP in league history, amassing 113 of the 120 first place votes. http://www.nba.com/bulls/d-rose-mvp.html Pretty cool coverage at Bulls.com too
  24. couple of interesting notes about the second round The only analyst on ESPN that's picking the Bulls to sweep the Hawks is..... John Hollinger. I am shocked. The Celtics and the Heat actually gets a 3 day rest between Game 2 and Game 3 (G2 on Tues, G3 on Sat.) while the Bulls and Hawks will play every other day. This will be though if we run into nagging injuries.
  25. There is nothing like a Game 7 overtime of the Stanley Cup playoffs, granted it's only the opening round. This ought to be awesome!
