  1. Not that I would lose sleep over Pederson, but has Manny saga not teach you anything?
  2. We also have not pick up options for EE, Gio, and Cishek. This team also made the playoffs. In a normal year, I think what Springer or Bauer commands should be within the expenditure.
  3. If reports were true that they gave offered 5/$125M to Wheeler last offseason, I don’t see how Springer or Bauer are out of our price range. Maybe Sox are trying to be on the conservative side with it being midst of a pandemic, but I don’t buy the narrative that we don’t offer 9 figure contracts.
  4. I share the same sentiment on Pace, but Nagy doesn't get away from criticism today. The team has not been able to play 4 good quarters of football this year even against bad teams, and is inept when playing with the lead, it showed again today. If it's one or two games, you could point to the underlying symptoms and make adjustments there, but if it's all freaking year, it's on the GM, the head coach, all of them.
  5. The bold still an issue after today. That game plan worked for a half, but failed badly on the last 2 drives. I don't know, on those drives had the run game been better or Mitch not fumbling or throwing a ball on a 3rd and 5 3 yards short of the first down, we might have sealed the deal.
  6. It's pretty simple, look at total rushing yards and yard per carry in the second half vs the first half. When you're playing not to lose, you're relying on the run game and short passes instead of opening up your playbook, which limits the effectiveness of your offense and makes it easier for defense to stop you. Why did not play not to lose? Their offense is still bad. I'll give credit that this offense looks a bit better under Trubisky because of his mobility, but that's about it. I've seen nothing today that suggests that this offense is capable of moving the ball against an average defense.
  7. But Bears did not score 45 today, they scored 23 in the first half and 7 in the second half. The lack of confidence on this offense is why they were playing conservative and trying to not lose the game, and they ended up losing because of it. The playing not to lose plan has been a theme under this Nagy coached team, which has resulted in a lot of ugly wins,
  8. WTF, they faced a bottom 2 defense today. So we're going to ignore the embarrassment we've been calling an offense all season because they scored 30 points against a bad defense, and still lost? And really, they had a good first half and scored 7 points in the second half, against the said bad defense. They'll get credit when they show they're capable move the ball against even a league average this defense.
  9. After the last two weeks, I don't want to hear about how Nagy is a bad play caller but a good HC. He's just bad on all fronts.
  10. TLR and Zack Collins, Reynaldo Lopez to Cardinals for Mike Schildt, Harrison Bader.
  11. Having quality depth, especially at a low cost, it's not a bad thing. You never know if someone is going to get hurt or if Vaughn is truly ready. I would absolutely consider someone like Schwarber if he could be had for cheap.
  12. If we aren't spending big money on Springer or Bauer, why not give Schwarber a shot. Does 1/$5M do it? Let Vaughn spend 2 months in minors, if he's ready by June, flip Schwarber, if he's not, we got some insurance. To me it's a low risk medium reward type of move.
  13. Throwing wild parties and putting his $28M salary to good use.
  14. Of all the different things we could do to protect Robert’s health, we have reached a point where the only way to do so is to trade Vaughn, who projects to be one of the best hitters in the league.
  15. Eloy, age 24, to DH talk is not going to happen for another couple of years, regardless of whether Vaughn and Abreu are on the team or not.
  16. But rest of your post suggests you'd trade him and he doesn't have much value. The projection you provided gave aligns with a player who totalled 62 career bWAR, and 149 career OPS+, the second best offensive 1B in the last decade. Would you have traded Joey Votto? These guys do not grow on trees. I'll concede that Vaughn's defense is likely average to Votto's good to great, but Vaughn is still an extremely valuable piece if those projections hold true (and I don't think they're too off). It just seems the projection you gave does not align with rest of your post. And if you truly believe in this projections, then you shouldn't trade that guy.
  17. Joey Votto in his age 25-33 seasons averaged 25 HRs and 34 2Bs, with triple slash of .315/.436/.544 and OPS+ of 162. Were you not sold on prime Joey Votto also?
  18. Yea, I'd hate to have prime Joey Votto on this team.
  19. Dwar includes positional adjustment, and so obviously he's going to get penalized for being a primarily LF. For comparison take, Alex Gordon, the greatest LF fielder of this generation, and winners of 4 straight GG, accumulated a total of 1 Dwar over the last 6 years. And on UZR, do you really want to want make an argument based on the 2 years where he was barely negative? Most of which are attributed to his play in CF, which he shouldn't/won't be signed to play?
  20. Which stat? He's career UZR/150 is at LF is 2.9, which is pretty respectable, would be even better if you look past the 2019 outlier where he had an injured ankle. His 17 rARM (outfield runs saved above average) since 2016 leads all active LFs, his arm should be good enough for RF.
  21. It's worth noting that Colas isn't ranked in the MLB top international prospects list, perhaps it's because he hasn't declared yet. Cespedes is ranked 1, I think Colas should be up there.
  22. Same, I have my doubts on him, let's hope that the weight loss has considerably impacted his game in a positive way. Either way I won't complain at all about a signing, and I think him to the Sox is as good as done.
  23. It exists, I'm not going to pull it up. I have seen a 3 minute compilation of MJ missed dunks a while back.
  24. A lowlight reel of any player is a bad indicator of their skillset, just as I could post videos of Mike Trout missing a catch or striking out to make him look like a bad fielder or hitter. Advanced metrics show that he's an average defender in left with a strong arm, and most of the negatives came from 2019 where he was playing with a bad ankle, he was able to rebound in 2020. At the risk making it sound like I'm Rosario's agent, I think he's #2 best option after Springer at RF. Pederson is a more well rounded player if he puts it together, but there's too much boom or bust risk, and he's more of a platoon than Rosario. If signing Rosario to a reasonable short term deal would allow the Sox to go after Bauer, or a Kluber/Quintana combo with two closer quality RPs without dealing from the farm, then I am all for it.
  25. You don't really need to platoon Rosario. He's was respectable against lefties the last 2 full seasons. If anything, Joc Pederson would be an expensive platoon.
