Rosenthal: “rival exec believe white Sox will spend big”
Please no. The NBA draft is terrible, and the NBA has the most lopsided teams in all professional sports.

Rule-5 Draft thread (Thursday, Dec 13th)
I think Thompson is going to be selected. He fits the profile of a guy who could be stashed in a pen all year. I wouldn’t worry about Mendick. Last year we were worried about Peters, and he had better stats than Mendick and wasn’t selected.

40 Man Roster Changes
He honestly profiles as a solid bullpen option. Hasn’t exactly failed yet as a starter yet either, so there’s no harm in letting him keep going until he proves otherwise. He gave up a ton of HR’s in Charlotte the last month but it seemed more like fatigue than skill. I think the Sox could sneak Clarkin through the rule 5 - guy was a dumpster fire last season.

Baseball America Top 10 Prospects
Especially Hansen. I really have no clue what to think of him despite the injury. Guy was just lost when he came back.

Diaz traded, where is hahn?
Yea, Diaz’s 2018 1.6 WAR > Sanchez’s 2018 2.6 WAR.

Mariners front office accused of racism
Yea, I would agree. I'm sure the MLB/MLBPA will do their due diligence to look into this.

Mariners front office accused of racism
Well, she just got fired. People say things to get noticed in today's wonderful age of social media and outrage culture. *IF* (and I'm not accusing her as such) she was just trying to blast her former bosses, calling them a racist would be a very good way to try and burry them with the way society is. Unfortunately, I rarely believe anything until more information comes out about it from multiple sources. It'll be interesting to see what ends up happening and if more people open their mouths about this situation from inside the organization.

Mariners front office accused of racism
Ugly. It'll be interesting to know how much of this is true and how much of this is disgruntled fired former employee.

In July, Sox had deal in place to send A. Garcia to Houston for Martes
Before the injury, Martes was a very highly regarded arm in the Astros system. BA had him ranked #20 in the Top 100 in 2016.

White sox active in starting pitching market
This is were I'm at with Paxton. Guy is a stud SP when healthy, but that would be an awfully risky move to get a guy for only 2 years coming off of a 100 loss season.

White Sox Bryce Harper FA pitch spoiler?
I didn’t say flock. Considering there was already an abnormal amount of Cubs fans at Sox game this past year, you don’t think that would only increase with Harper?
-
White Sox Bryce Harper FA pitch spoiler?
That’s a flawed measurement though. That’s like saying Sox fans will never go to Wrigley or Cubs fans will never venture to Guaranteed Rate. If the Sox signed Harper, more Sox fans would attend games and Cubs fans would probably venture to the South Side to see Harper play.

White Sox Bryce Harper FA pitch spoiler?
So the Sox setup a leak (and removed the tweet) with Harper #34 across a banner and put a jersey on the Jordan statue (though kept this to themselves) all to trick Sox fans into thinking they tried to sign Harper? C’mon, that’s ridiculous .

Corbin has become top target
They may feel that the SP market is going to move faster than Machado/Harper. If they think they can get this done faster, then I’m ok with it - although Corbin does worry me a little for that price. I don’t think signing him will remove them from trying on the big two, might help their chances of selling either of them on the team. Going to be a hell of an offseason with all these rumors every other day!

Morosi: White Sox interested in "both Machado and Harper"
Harper is just as good a fit, if not potentially better than Machado. He's a power bat from the left side, and has amazing OBP instincts. That is something this team hasn't had since Thome left. It also allows the Sox to deal from their glut of OF prospects to further improve other areas of need. Either way, I'll gladly welcome either of the two, haha

Heyman says White Sox interested in Nelson Cruz
This should be the only reason to bring him in, but I really want nothing to do with Cruz. Keep him away if at all possible. He's entering his age 38 season and already showed slight signs of regression this past season.

Rosenthal: “rival exec believe white Sox will spend big”
At this point, I doubt he does. He does have a source, but keeps things closer to the chest after Hahn gave him crap for leaking moves (I think it was the Shields deal?).

Both? ?

Sox sign Eloy’s brother?
Sox also signed Andy LaRoche...

2018 White Sox catch-all thread
Totally agree. Depends on what the Yankees are asking for, but he's exactly the type of player the Sox should look to bring in to the rotation.

Sox and analytics
I was gonna say... the Sox are teaching spin rate to their minor league pitchers to make their stuff more effective. A last place, stat heavy team wouldn’t be doing that.
