  1. That's interesting to hear. I would suspect that could only help the Sox. They would have the highest ranked farm out of all the teams going after him unless I'm mistaken.
  2. And now we wait. Fingers cross the stars align for the Sox and they land him. Would love to know which teams are officially in it.
  3. Can't wait to hear what nautical analogy Boras decides to use this time around.
  4. I personally believe this is one of those rumors Hahn said was false regarding the Sox offseason plans. Please, please, please stay away from the 38 yr. old ticking time bomb. It's better to sell a year early than hold on a year too late. This guy will fall off the grid at some point - let that be another team's problem.
  5. I thought that was more hinting at the fact that Madrigal will eventually take over the position (not in 2019, but as soon as 2020 if all goes well for him).
  6. Yea, he is showing heavy decline the past two seasons. Was a great player a few years back, but he doesn't appear to have anything left in the tank.
  7. How about Caleb Jospeh? Had a down year in 2018, but I swear I recall hearing on a podcast he was a guy the Sox scouted but ultimately didn't draft (maybe Hostetler?). https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/caleb-joseph-on-the-maturation-process/ Slightly old article, but he seems like something the Sox need for the youngsters.
  8. I wanted nothing to do with him before the wife beating incedent. Guy reeks of a bad seed through and through.
  9. Something the Sox very wisely held firm to. Personally I don’t think Nightengale knows jack about the Sox plans. It’s been forever when I can think he actually broke a story. His scoops nowadays are equivalent to throwing shit against the wall and seeing what sticks.
  10. He’s lost a lot of velocity and really is a shell of his former self. Coop can’t fix him unless he owns a time machine.
  11. Would you really want him? He’s been in pretty solid decline past two seasons. It would be like getting Griffey or Youkilis again.
  12. Please no. The NBA draft is terrible, and the NBA has the most lopsided teams in all professional sports.
  13. I think Thompson is going to be selected. He fits the profile of a guy who could be stashed in a pen all year. I wouldn’t worry about Mendick. Last year we were worried about Peters, and he had better stats than Mendick and wasn’t selected.
  14. He honestly profiles as a solid bullpen option. Hasn’t exactly failed yet as a starter yet either, so there’s no harm in letting him keep going until he proves otherwise. He gave up a ton of HR’s in Charlotte the last month but it seemed more like fatigue than skill. I think the Sox could sneak Clarkin through the rule 5 - guy was a dumpster fire last season.
  15. Especially Hansen. I really have no clue what to think of him despite the injury. Guy was just lost when he came back.
  16. Yea, Diaz’s 2018 1.6 WAR > Sanchez’s 2018 2.6 WAR.
  17. Yea, I would agree. I'm sure the MLB/MLBPA will do their due diligence to look into this.
  18. Well, she just got fired. People say things to get noticed in today's wonderful age of social media and outrage culture. *IF* (and I'm not accusing her as such) she was just trying to blast her former bosses, calling them a racist would be a very good way to try and burry them with the way society is. Unfortunately, I rarely believe anything until more information comes out about it from multiple sources. It'll be interesting to see what ends up happening and if more people open their mouths about this situation from inside the organization.
  19. Ugly. It'll be interesting to know how much of this is true and how much of this is disgruntled fired former employee.
  20. Before the injury, Martes was a very highly regarded arm in the Astros system. BA had him ranked #20 in the Top 100 in 2016.
  21. This is were I'm at with Paxton. Guy is a stud SP when healthy, but that would be an awfully risky move to get a guy for only 2 years coming off of a 100 loss season.
  22. Lineup 1. Robert, CF (R) 2. Moncada - 3B (S) 3. Jimenez, DH (R) 4. Abreu, 1B (R) 5. Collins, C (L) 6. Adolfo, RF (R) 7. Rutherford, LF (L) 8. Anderson, SS (R) 9. Madrigal, 2B (R) Bench Zavala, C (R) Basabe, OF (S) Sanchez, IF (S) Palka, OF (L)
  23. I'd love for the Sox to go after Rendon next offseason if they could land Harper this offseason.
  24. I didn’t say flock. Considering there was already an abnormal amount of Cubs fans at Sox game this past year, you don’t think that would only increase with Harper?
  25. That’s a flawed measurement though. That’s like saying Sox fans will never go to Wrigley or Cubs fans will never venture to Guaranteed Rate. If the Sox signed Harper, more Sox fans would attend games and Cubs fans would probably venture to the South Side to see Harper play.
