QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 10:08 PM) Best candidate to "Tonya Harding" so we can DL them and collect insurance money for rest of 2011.... 1) Juan Pierre 2) Adam Dunn 3) Alex Rios 4) Jake Peavy (ooops, already on DL) 5) Mark Teahen We're certainly all-in with that bunch

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) Looks like Juan's defense is setting up to lose us another game. GET HIM OFF THE f***ING TEAM! Again I say...Danks for Granderson?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 09:33 PM) That's bad because it means that 1) Rios is permantly benched in CF and his contract is wasted or 2) KW doesn't find a better replacement for Pierre that can lead off. We'll just have to wait and see. I will be surprised if Brent gets enough regular playing time to prove he can be an everyday player unless they just bench Dunn permantly, which you know Ozzie and KW simply won't do. The problem ALSO is that Viciedo simply has to be in the line-up, and unless we trade Quentin or move Viciedo AGAIN to 3B, there's just no way Lilly is the leadoff hitter next year. How about Curtis Granderson for Danks? Have Granderson and Lillibridge bat 1-2 That would be fun to watch.

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 09:14 PM) Not using him in that situation shatters his confidence even more. Sending him to the plate in that situation says "we still have faith in you big guy". Adam can still hit 40 HR's this year but he needs to play every day in order to do so. From Boozer on the West to Dunn on the South, Reinsdorf and his management team gets played time and time again I'll never forget the Saturday they paid a call on that fake LeBron in Cleveland last summer and had to call up to get into the building. I"m contemplating shelling millions and he didn't respect my organization enough to have a greeter at the door? C'mon.. I would have turned around and came home.

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 09:10 PM) f***. I knew Ozzie should have sent Dunn to the plate there. It's a shame to have one of the biggest RBI guys of the past decade on your team and not use him in that situation. Probably because he has yet to play like one of the biggest RBI guys of the past decade..he'd already be in the game otherwise.... And I loathe Guillen so I'm no defender..
-
QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) Note to idiots Guillen and Cooper: stop allowing Jake Peavy to exceed 100 pitches in his starts. His command in the next start suffers. Moot point if a simple double play was executed...have a lovely afternoon...life is too short for this crap Sox keeping this team together because Cleveland and not Minnesota is in first place and all the wild card contenders are in reach -so they think. They're delusional...there will be no post season play on 35th street

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 02:25 PM) Whew, lucky break right there. That run is on you Alexei. The whole inning is on him
-
I grew up watching Peters, Horlen, John and Wood. Peavy is in that category of pitcher. No one and I mean no one on this staff comes close to him in ability. You young folks have never seen an ace pitcher on the Sox. Behold, this is an ace.

QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 09:40 PM) Pitching to Miguel f***ing Cabrera after a leadoff triple with 2 outs and 2 bases free is stupid. Period, Balta. I'm not even arguing this with you. I'm so sick of the copouts with people on this site. Well I'll join you...pitching to Cabrera with the game on the line was another dumbass decision by ozzie... He's an RBI machine. There are guys you just don't let beat you with the game on the line and he's one of them...his fat ass nonwithstanding. I'd take him in any condition over Dunn.
-
QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 09:29 PM) This is more of a personal issue I have, but there are so many classless players i f***ing HATE on the Tigers... It's not like that with any other team in baseball. I think Detroit as an organization is full of pricks... Like Miami's Heat
-
QUOTE (Real @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 09:16 PM) i didnt predict a homer but i knew that run would score after we recorded 2 outs, i posted a few minutes ago.. this team is horrible at getting that 3rd out with RISP they don't have a killer's instinct ... neither does Ozzie with his anti-sweep-just-win-the-series mentality
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 09:14 PM) Crain has the habit of giving up the big hit. Which is why Minnesota really didn't care about him leaving
-
Can someone explain to me how the hell Dunn thinks he can pull a baseball standing 5 feet away from the plate?
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 07:40 PM) You mean besides the fact Dunn was a FA and Adrian wasn't? Now if you want to argue about Kenny finding creative ways to bloat our payroll, that's a different topic. I'm sick of payroll discussions...this is not Mayberry.... If Reinsdorf can't afford a sports franchise then just sell to someone who can. If someone like the Red Sox owner bought the White Sox and raised the payroll ceiling another 50 or 60 million a year, most of the fans on this site would be in cardiac arrest.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 07:36 PM) Ugh, I despise Rios so much. He has nothing going for him with his swing. Walker needs to just start from scratch with him to salvage his career, as he's going to be out of baseball in a year or two if he doesn't improve. Also, he might be the laziest player we've had in a long time. He never, ever runs hard down the line. Why can't this organization just go out and sign bonafide stars instead of trying to out-smart and bedazzle everyone with lightening in a bottle projects? Imagine Adrian Gonzalez on this team instead of Dunn...
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 09:03 PM) Awesome, Rios having one of those "worst games of career" type games. Compared to one of his "worst games of career" from last week
-
QUOTE (Yoda @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 08:55 PM) This is about as good as the Sox offense has looked all year. You got happy and spoke too soon
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 08:59 PM) Ok, so why don't we have like 12 runs? Because we're the most offensively inept team in the majors
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 31, 2011 -> 08:58 PM) Sale in? Ozzie seems to be caught unprepared right now. So what else is new? The stock of amalgamated Guillen has plummeted since Jenks made the last out in the 2005 WS.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 31, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) This is just brutal. Bruney should have been brought in to start the 8th. Bruney should have been left in triple A
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 31, 2011 -> 08:56 PM) Wtf was that? Having Ohman and this thing in the bullpen would be enough to get any GM fired.
-
QUOTE (Wanne @ May 31, 2011 -> 08:35 PM) Not at all. He's been a stud out there. Agreed. an unexpected surprise in a dreadful season....
-
QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ May 31, 2011 -> 08:33 PM) Will Ohman just ruined Humber's ERA. I was just checking to see if someone else thought the same thing. Ohman gets the last out and his ERA is still under 3.
-
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 29, 2011 -> 01:51 PM) As far as I am concerned we have one legitimate prospect in the minors and a bunch of other guys who could be bullpen fodder or utility players. Imagine how bad the Sox would have been if management declared they weren't going to be all in....
