  1. Don't y'all just love NL 2.0? I rarely go to the Wrigley Field but I'd consider going on Guillen's first trip to Chicago with the Marlins next year. And somebody please tell me the Marlins are on the schedule to play the Cell next year.
  2. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 07:42 PM) Dunn is about to cost this kid a win with his stone hands. Look at it as more nails in the coffins of present management

  4. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 08:48 PM) If we don't dump some bad contracts in the offseason, we'll be where they are now in 1-2 years. Cubs should've dumped/rebuilt team in 09 when they struggled but were not horrible. Would've been able to move some contracts and get more for guys who were still good then. They didn't and they've paid for it the last 2 years. Sox got to find a way to make this team better. We have a team that would've been great in 2007, not so much now. Too many declining players (JP, Dunn, AJ, Rios, Peavy). KW has got to find a way to dump these guys. They've already be dumped on Williams. Next stop is to eat all of those salaries. No one on this board this board think much of those players - who would think any other GM other than Williams would be stupid enough take any of them. There was no real interest in any of those players - if they were Reinsdorf wouldn"t have been part of any bidding wars.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 08:30 PM) I don't believe I've used this line this year, but screw this team. Bunch of unlikable, underachieving busts. This is what we get when Reinsdorf declares he's all-in. I guess he said "I'll fixed 'em". Oh please, please just go back to being the snake oil salesman. We knew what to expect with that.
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) JR, OG and KW can have each other! The 3 Stooges of Baseball
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 09:41 PM) Overmatched....I hate this team, at least 2007 had the excitement of Fields during the 2nd half. Josh Fields...What need do we have of further witnesses?
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 09:40 PM) Way too much reliance by some people on here of guys like Dunn and Rios turning their seasons around after they haven't shown one sign of life all season. The season will be over for the Sox by Sunday, and then we'll have to pray for some waiver deals. Williams is a lousy GM...what makes anyone think he would be better at dismantling? He'll get fleeced for the little talent that exists on this team
  9. QUOTE (Paulstar @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 09:30 PM) The only chance of that is if there is a GM out there that is worse than KW. Oh well..
  10. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 04:44 PM) Can they cut these f***ing crap "All-in" commercials? Seriously, it just makes this organization look like a joke. STOP. PLAYING. THEM! They are a freakin' joke...Reinsdorf and his cabal won't sell unless they can package the Sox, Bulls and the UC: 1.3 billion or so....that's what it will take
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 05:46 PM) With the game so long and Dunn and Rios back to back in the 9th, we made our way down the LF line to get a Lance Johnson jump to the Red Line as soon as the final out was recorded. That we did, making our way down the ramp quickly, but who had a better Lance Johnson jump out of USCF than us? It was KW. He had as little faith in his high priced "sluggers" as I did. He does have a sweet silver Benz though. Dealer plates. He doesn't owned anything, he leases.
  12. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 04:20 PM) You're missing my point. We later did spend money on this team, yes. At the time of AGon vs. Beckham, most posters here felt like we aren't enough of a big spender to keep AGon long term. Purely saying that's why posters defended keeping Gordon. Not saying it was the right move. I didn't miss your point, you're weren't making one.
  13. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 03:24 PM) Ozzie and Kenny need to resign, ASAP. Thank you
  14. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 02:36 PM) Dunn is like that kid in little league who really stinks, where everyone cheers when he fouls one off. Will a miracle if the Sox still win this game after blowing that kind of opportunity against a team like this
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 09:24 PM) Haha, shame on you Ozzie for rewarding Rios with another start. Ozzie's just cementing his departure and he's doing it his way
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:57 PM) Much like our pitching staff. I think not...
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:51 PM) That doesn't solve the Sox's problems, it fixes CF with 2 guys but adds a ton more salary. Who cares - they were all in
  18. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:49 PM) Yes, agreed. If we're going to make a run for this thing we're going to need him. I am actually quite surprised everyone feels the likely loss tonight should result in a panic selloff of the team and basically do a white flag 2 if you will. If we can get the game tomorrow it's a good start to this important homestand...and with this division as winnable as it is, I dont think we're going to make a move. If we're offered an awesome package for one of our desirable players, however, I wouldn't lose sleep if we did a deal that signified we're packing it in... it will be interesting to see how managers in this division get fired at season's end this division is completely up for grabs.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:40 PM) Hell, even the Red Sox rely on catching lightning in a bottle with half their roster. That was their entire 2010 plan. Or the in and out every year Yankee pitching staff. Got it.. And the other half is a superior baseball team
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:28 PM) If they can make good deals, yes. Not just whatever they can get. I'm still holding out hope the Yankees make an overwhelming offer for Danks. Give me your Montero. Give me your Betances. Give me your Banuelos. They could have gotten Granderson for Danks had they made the deal during the hot stove.
  21. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:20 PM) Kenny working the phones as we speak Hopefully, trying to see if he can trade himself. Whatever we get in return would be his greatest acquisition. They call it addition by subtraction.
  22. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:15 PM) Ubaldo Jimenez has been traded from the Rockies to the Indians for pitching prospects Drew Pomeranz and Alex White and first base prospect Matt McBride, according to the Denver Post's Troy Renck. Source: Troy Renck on Twitter Jul 30, 8:02 PM That's what I call being all in. Cleveland must believe 2012 is going to be all she's wrote for humanity anyway.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:19 PM) Peavy wishes he could have Humber's success this year. Sure would be nice to have an ownership which doesn't constantly rely on catching lightening in a bottle with half of its roster.
  24. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 06:37 PM) Jimenez deal not done yet Rios is done though...thought he was benched..
