QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 29, 2011 -> 01:34 PM) Well I can't say that with Hahn, as I have no clue if he's capable or not. But I love the way Friedman runs that organization. You need an outsider to come in here with a fresh perspective. They haven't had anyone close to that since Himes - who despite everything has been the best evaluator of real talent the Sox ever had. The one-hit wonders of 2005 do not qualify - unless we're satisfied in winning a world series once a century waiting around for mostly average players to have career years.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 29, 2011 -> 01:27 PM) And the most important aspect to our bad shapeness is the two boobs we have running the organization in Ozzie and KW. and the biggest boob of them all - the one that put them in those positions

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 28, 2011 -> 04:36 PM) I really think at this point OG does not care If he is fired, he sure manages like it. I shutter to think who will eventually replace him...it won't be someone with a fresh perspective... Reinsdorf is like Evilenne from the Wiz..don't bring me no bad news...

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 28, 2011 -> 04:17 PM) All this extra bs because Ozzie didn't have the stones to yank Dunn for Quentin. That is, that's all....
-
QUOTE (bulokis @ May 28, 2011 -> 03:43 PM) Walk off coming up. Our team enjoys watching the opposing team celebrate. What's gping to hurt me more than anything is Ozzie is setting up Santos to lose this game after his nice inning.
-
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 28, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) Fire Ozzie NOW! Quentin should have PH for Dunn. A blind man could see it. Dunn is to the Sox as Boozer is to the Bulls Is there any coincidence boozer and dunn play for organizations run by reinsdorf?
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) For anyone that questions how influential a manager can be on the outcome of a game, Ozzie's proving how detrimental he can be this week. And with his horrid use of the bullpen, his imprint in losses is more profound than most managers.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 19, 2011 -> 03:36 PM) It seems to me a no brainer, but the key is to try to get something good for him besides unloading the salary. How the heck is he going to stay healthy? He's going to be overworked on nights he pitches well, cause he refuses to come out of the game. This bulldog is, in my opinion, going to be too injury prone and stubborn the rest of his career. I love him but if it's true the Sox need the money, deal him in a Greinke-like deal. Get good stuff in return. If Reinsdorf is having those kinds of financial problems, why doesn't he do us all a favor and just sell? Maybe most of you are satisfied at being great every one hundred years but I'm not. And based on what immediately preceded and what has transpired since 2005, that WS championship was indeed a fluke.

Sox vs. Rangers, 05/17, 7:10, CSN+

Life is just too short to spend day after day. night after night watching these well-compensated athletes mail in it. If the Bulls make it to the finals that will take us to at least mid-June. A month later the Bears will be back. I can't fathom to think where the Sox will be by then. They're on their way to be 13 games in the lost column behind Cleveland - the same team they beat like a drum on opening day. If Cleveland makes it the playoff a share ought to go to Matt Thorthon. That guy turned their season and perhaps their franchise around with his blown saves. They haven't looked back since. Tampa Bay was playing horridly until they ran into the Sox. Now they're in first place. The Chicago American League Ballclub – for whatever ails ya. -
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 9, 2011 -> 11:10 PM) Would it be premature to say this is the 3rd win in a row. When your manager is the clueless Guillen, absolutely. He just can't himself with this needless parade of pitchers.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 4, 2011 -> 03:42 PM) I personally don't see a need to fire KW. I think on the whole he's done a great job. This is not about building a poor roster, at all. Its about living up to talent. That's on the manager, the coaches, and the players, in some combination. But you're making the assumption these players have talent. Why can't people just realize these are not very good baseball players. Watch some of the real elite teams in major leagues and then come back and what this foolishness and tell me these guys have talent.
-
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 7, 2011 -> 12:05 PM) I would probably get tired of managing and over paid under achieving team after awhile along with a farm system that has a bleak future. I think he would be a better manager in the NL. If he gets fired, it won't take long for him to be managing again. Since the turn of the century this team has had two managers but the constant has been under achievement. \ This management has no clue how to build an elite ballclub. As it could happen once a century, they got lucky with some marginal and a few slightly above average players who peeked in 2005. Nothing leading up to 2005 or nothing which has occurred since would demonstrate the sox were nothing more than one-hit wonder. Guillen's managerial star actually started to fade with the near epic implosion of team in the second half of the 2005. Guillen stayed out of the way for the most of playoffs.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2011 -> 08:18 AM) I really think Ozzie wouldn't mind being fired. I've really never thought that before, but he seems almost resigned to the White Sox fate. Where is his annual speech about how he's was close to walking away. He doesn't want to quit because he wouldn't get the cash. As for the Sox, for a team that is supposedly "all in" they seem to have great faith in all their personnel not performing. Its getting to the point where if things aren't changing they need to do something. Even if they start playing better, which seems like it would be impossible not to happen, an entire summer of meaningless baseball played before tumbleweeds with the inevitiable drop in payroll next season, isn't going to do much for current customers. Something has to be done. Maybe not a firing now, but how about something a little more substantial than Teahen for Morel? They need to quit being so stubborn. If they rally and play well and win 85 games while some will call that a successful season, I find 85 wins if you don't make the playoffs during a year you are "all in" a failure. I truly believe the Sox management is working under the assumption that Cleveland and Kansas City are not as good as they are bad. They believe those two teams will eventually tank and as long as they don't get too far behind the so-called elite teams of the division - Minnesota and Detroit, they could go on some extended win streak and be right back in the race. Operating under this kind of delusion has preventing them to from facing reality about the true state of their organization.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 3, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) I think it's obvious that whatever mojo Ozzie had with this team is all gone. It was over when Jenks got the last out in the 2005 World Series. -

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ May 3, 2011 -> 09:19 PM) That's it. Worst regular season loss in recent years IMO. let's not ever ask Reinsdorf to be "all in" again Sox will lose 100 games or more this year -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 3, 2011 -> 09:06 PM) Lilli was a pinch runner, so unlikely he gets a chance. The Sox are one sorry ass baseball team. Once the Bulls get swept by Atlanta it's going to be a long dreadful summer sports wise in Chicago. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 09:30 PM) Please, please send Sale down to become a starter. This is such a waste with him right now. This whole season is going to be a waste. Life is too short to be bothered with this type of aggravation day in and day out. We have no control over these events. We can talk about them but they do not translate into material changes. Imagine this team in the dog days of summer - yikes. But of course, just about everyone recognizable on it will gone by then except the 3 stooges principally responsible. The 3 biggest egos on this team are the chairman, the gm and the manager. -

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 09:15 PM) Have we "ruined" them through poor instruction in the system, or was the talent never really there to begin with? I think the Sox are just terrible at recognizing real talent. Of course, those guys wouldn't sign here anyway, Reinsdorf is not going to pay them. He's looks to capture lightening in a bottle and ends up with a tempest in a teapot. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) Well, we didn't draft Flowers. However, our organization's absolute inability to develop offensive players is baffling. Funny that it's basically all a bunch of white boys that can't hit a fastball. Be nice to spend some more money on Latin American players. That's not a bad idea except for the fact a lot of them don't hit well in the cold weather which Chicago has plenty of. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) He's just not a 15 million dollar a year pitcher to me. He's a long way from that...He gets too rattle when adversity strikes, albeit that's about everytime he pitches -
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 08:20 PM) Not often you see a team with 3 players that need to get benched (Rios, Beckham, Morel). That goes along with Pierre and Dunn being non contributors this year also. I've really never seen an offense struggle this badly. The players on this team aren't very talented despite what they're being paid and they are grossly mis-managed.
