  1. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 12:41 PM) If she were a gold digger, why wouldn't she continue to cooperate with the case? Her odds of making money with a civil suit drop significantly if the case against Kane is dropped. For that matter, why hasn't there been more mention of a civil suit? She was more than likely hoping for an out of court settlement. As time went on her story fell apart. First her friend refused to cooperate, second her mom made up the story about the rape kit bag showing up at her house and third her lawyer dropped her. If Kane was going to settle he would have quickly and she probably just finally gave up. If her story had any credibility she would still pursue it when a guy with the coin that Kane has is involved.
  2. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 10:57 AM) oh yeah ,..... but his result are of the nl i like the tor sp Estrada 9 years in the AL, 1 in the NL. Can we please drop this whole "don't sign NL players because they fail in the AL" crap. It's really tired and not true. Just because it happened a couple teams doesn't mean it will happen to a completely different player who plays a completely different position.
  3. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 10:52 AM) totally off related. i have to give the blackhawks org props for not abandoning Kan in the beginning. I'm sure their reason for not suspending or trading Kane is that they were privy to information that we were not and knew what the outcome was likely to be.
  4. I just can't believe some of the responses on here. Every shred of evidence from eye witness to scientific contradicts this woman's story. Yet somehow Kane is still not the victim even though his reputation is ruined (what little good reputation he had left) and he lost substantial money over it. He also somehow embarrassed the Blackhawks because someone made up lies about him. How the hell does that work?
  5. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 12:59 PM) Fair or unfair, the same accusation has followed Big Ben, Kobe Bryant. It will be interesting to see what the NHL or Blackhawks do. They probably don't need to do anything and they probably shouldn't have him miss games, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Blackhawks would want Kane to seek some kind of treatment. What do you want the NHL to do? Say hey nice job not raping that woman here's a 5 game suspension? As far as we know (and any evidence we've been given has shown) Kane did absolutely nothing wrong that night and nothing worse than any other guy in the league is doing. Kane has been fine since the Wisconsin incident. What do you want him to do, never leave the house and live like a hermit?
  6. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 12:09 PM) This was all under the assumption that they knew he'd decline it due to wanting more guaranteed money (not more annually than the QO but still more than he could make accepting a QO, sucking, and then finding no work next season). I know it won't happen either but it was just a topic I felt like bringing to the table. I'm actually one of the few in here that believes he will re-sign with us on a year (with option possibly) deal. If he rejected a QO he would have trouble finding work in 2016 because no team would give up a draft pick to sign him.
  7. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 10:55 AM) Hypothetically speaking, if the Sox and Alexei discussed a deal to come back prior to declining the option but he wanted a 2 or 3 year deal worth around 18-30 mill (more guaranteed money than accepting a QO) would it be smart to offer him a QO knowing he's seeking a multi-year deal? I'm not advocating doing it but it's something that could be talked about or debated on here. It would take Alexei approximately 1 second to accept a QO. Then the Sox would be stuck paying him $15+ million next year. Horrible idea. Even if he rejects it, nobody will sign him until the deadline passes. Nobody is giving up a 1st round draft pick to sign Alexei Ramirez.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 08:53 AM) Wow, the statement made by the DA in Kane's case. No evidence whatsoever that anything took place as well as inconsistencies in the accusers story. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 09:15 AM) Link to the DA's statement: http://www2.erie.gov/da/index.php?q=distri...e-investigation And still in the court of public opinion he will stay be viewed as guilty by a large percentage of the population for the rest of his life.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 5, 2015 -> 09:06 AM) But if you're going to be replaced why wouldn't you take a guaranteed 2 or even 3 (mutual option on third) year deal with another team that definitely wants to keep you around for a minimum of two years? At his age, you're right, he should definitely take as much guaranteed money as he can get. I don't think he'll have any trouble getting 2 years guaranteed from somebody I just don't think, and don't want it to be, the Sox. I would be willing to go one year with an option/buyout in case Anderson isn't ready by 2017.
  10. I just don't buy this notion that Alexei went from being a very good ballplayer to a horrible one in one year's time. He was a 3.2 fWAR player in 2013 and 3.1 in 2014. I think the odds are better that he will put up something closer to that than the below replacement level he was last year. In 2015 he had by far the lowest BABIP of his career. It was just .264 compared to the .292 in 2014 and .291 lifetime. He increased his BB% and LD% in 2015 vs 2014 and lowered his K%. I think this makes him a good candidate for a bounce back year and I would be perfectly content with signing him to a one year $6-$7 million contract as a stop gap to Anderson.
  11. Not real often you see a team score 5 in the first and lose.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 01:39 PM) Yeah, it's all cliche in baseball. Nobody knows much about Steverson since he's not a former big league player thus they like him. In reality had our hitting coach been Walker they'd have run him out of town after last year. Steverson is a former big league player but of course you never let facts get in the way of a good story. I think a fairly large percentage of this message board knew who he was before he became the hitting coach. Hell, he was suspended an entire year when he was a minor league manager for having his pitch intentionally balk to end a long extra inning game after running out of pitchers which makes him fairly notorious. If anything that would give Sox fans more reason to dislike him.
  13. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Nov 2, 2015 -> 10:44 AM) I'd be interested in seeing Tesla and to a lesser extent Styx but I would have less than zero interest in Leppard. Didn't like em in the 80's and that hasn't changed. Even Beavis and Butthead made fun of Leppard I don't think I would walk across the street to see a free Def Leppard show.
  14. You know what has 9 arms and sucks?
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 01:50 PM) Nah, just a name that sounds like it belongs to a 34 year old Sounds more like a 55 year old GM turned manager to me.
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 02:53 PM) If he costs a draft pick then I'm out. If he doesn't, I'm down for it. I don't think they'll make him a qualifying offer but even if they do it's just a second rounder we'll lose. Getting a comp pick from Samardzija definitely eases that pain a bit. If our first rounder wasn't protected I wouldn't even entertain the thought of Wieters.
  17. I would be all for going after Wieters for the right price at 4/64 I'd pass. My interest would top out around 4/45 and I don't think that will get it done.
  18. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 01:07 PM) Does anyone really know the assistant hitting coaches well enough to complain about them? Other than on field decisions made by the manager and the third base coach, do we really know any of the coaches well enough to complain about them? We don't know what goes on behind closed doors or in practices.
  19. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 10:55 AM) WHO? Did you not believe any of these people who already said who he was. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 10:16 AM) Athletics minor league hitting coordinator Greg Sparks. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 10:23 AM) Six years of minor league managerial experience. Looks like the whole time with A's. Four years as minor league hitting coordinator. Minor league coach again most recently in Sacramento. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 10:28 AM) Actually switched jobs with Todd Steverson a few years ago. He actually went back to the role Steverson had this year.
  20. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 11:05 AM) I thought Dan Jennings was like 34 He's 28. Had partial seasons in 2012 and 2013 and his first full in 2014.
  21. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 29, 2015 -> 10:21 AM) Honestly, Putnam and Jennings can go. At least Avi has more potential. They're going to cost less than a million apiece. No reason to let them go. Who are you going to get to replace Putnam for that cost? Jennings was pretty damn good after his injury this year.
  22. QUOTE (Lillian @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 10:01 PM) Why did they just say that Jack Morris pitched the last complete game in the World Series? The Sox pitched 4 in a row in 2005. No. That was the ALCS.
  23. I started bowling in I believe 5th grade. I bowled all through high school and by the time I was a Senior in high school I averaged in the 190's. After high school I took 3 years off from league and just bowled a few times a year for fun. I then joined back up for one season and averaged in the 170's at a pretty run down bowling alley. I then took another 5 years off from league and came back for one season at the bowling alley I bowled at growing up. This time I averaged just shy of 200 (196 or 197 if I remember correctly). It has now been four years or so since I've bowled league but do occasionally bowl in fundraising tournament and tavern league tournaments. My all time high is a 279 that I bowled at age 16 or 17. Started with 9 in a row and then 9-spare-strike in the 10th. Despite always having a pretty decent average and many games in the 240's-250's, I have never bowled a 700 series. I've probably bowled a good 50 or so 600's but never a 700. The closest I have come was my last year bowling league. I started with a 240 something and 250 something in the first two games but kind of lost my line in the third and ended up in the 690's for the series. Part of the problem was a few too many blackberry brandies before that third game. I've never been a big time strike thrower but have always been real good at picking up spares. I don't throw a big power hook usually lining up around the middle and playing near the gutter and in. Norm Duke would be a good comparison for the type of ball I throw. My current go to ball is a 15lb Hammer Black Widow. I also have a 16lb Hammer No Mercy. Always used a 16lb until I got that Black Widow. I like the slightly lower weight now because I can throw it a little harder but still maintain a similar line.
  24. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 27, 2015 -> 11:10 AM) And then we had the Black Sox scandal! And after that players still had offseason jobs for another 40 years or so.
  25. QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 27, 2015 -> 11:58 AM) i know, the can't be reviewed would be the answer, well maybe in most cases. i remember, before it was a penalty and a penalty shot. then in the 80's it was a goal if the net wasn't pulled off before it crossed the line. for me, and again, i am watching it on review, it was a crap call. Why would it ever not be a goal if it crossed before the net was pulled off. What are you even trying to say there. It wasn't a crap call. It was absolutely the correct call. There was no clear intent and the goal was moved well before the shot went in.
