How's the home plate ump been? I'm just game casting this, but if the game cast is correct at all there have been multiple pitches center cut down that have been called balls for both sides.

Who would have ever thought that as bad as the Sox offense had been lately that they would light up Cain and Hudson in back to back games?

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 02:08 PM) Pedro no chance against Sale. Pedro?

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 07:12 PM) I would rather see Sizemore than watch De Aza. Obviously not a huge sample size, but De Aza does have a .333/.417/.567 slash in June. He's clearly been a lot better as of late.

There needs to be a name for Buehrle-type pitchers
lasttriptotulsa replied to Texsox's topic in The Diamond Club
If Sale had the required 1000 IP, here would be his rankings among the all time leaders, WHIP (8th), H/9 (16th), K/9 (4th), and K/BB (5th). If that's not an ace, I don't know what is. But keep on trolling Greg. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 5, 2014 -> 02:10 PM) I'm just sick of people acting like there's something wrong with Buerhle cause he's "not an ace" when there are VERY FEW aces in baseball year in and out. You're such a fan but yet you can't even spell his name right. I'm disappointed in you Greg. -
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 07:12 PM) Wish Ventura worried half as much about be a decent manager. This is JR's rule, not Ventura's, and it has been in place for about 8 years. It isn't something new. He has similar rules for the Bulls as well.

QUOTE (MAX @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 04:04 PM) Like jerry reinsdorf crying about facial hair? It does affect Reinsdorf. This is his business. Like it or not, if his players all had long hair and long scraggly beards it will affect their reputation to a good amount of people. Their reputation is huge when it comes to gaining or losing corporate sponsors.

White Sox vs. Dodgers game #2

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 04:02 PM) Mark Buehrle anyone? Who's that. Never heard of him. -
QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 03:57 PM) There's also absolutely nothing wrong with having a f***ing beard, either. You're right and the Sox think that too. That is why Dunn was allowed to keep his. They just don't want them to be unkempt.

I love it when people cry so much over something that does not affect their lives in the least bit. The Sox are a multi-million dollar business. They want the people that represent the business on a global scale to be well groomed and have a reasonably nice appearance. There is nothing wrong with that at all. Nearly every business in the world has some sort of dress or appearance code, why should the Sox be any different.

QUOTE (MAX @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 03:09 PM) I was too, but if I had one thing to communicate, it is that it actually reinforces the idea, wrong or right, that the owners of this franchise are not primarily focused on winning. They are distracted by the most irrelevant details. I cant get behind it at all. I miss chicago blackhawks hockey already. Yes taking a tiny amount of time to make and enforce a dress code is really distracting. Hell, just think about how many World Series the Yankees could have won had they not had virtually the same policy.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 02:02 PM) You guys dont remember when this happened with Crede and AJ back in the day? Old news. FO wants the clean appearance Exactly. This is not Ventura's rule.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 06:00 PM) Who, Harold? I don't understand how anybody can't be a HUGE Buehrle fan and not as upset as me that the Sox let him go. To me his greatness is a no brainer. No, not Harold. I'm talking about that multiple time gold glove winning 3B who put up 33% more WAR than Konerko in 6 less seasons. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 01:58 PM) Why isn't Buehrle an ace? In my mind he's better than an ace. He's f***ing unbelievable is what he is. Whoever let him walk and not pay him on the South Side should be ashamed. I can't believe some of the snide comments about Buehrle and Paulie, by far two of the greatest players in White Sox history. When Coop decides to retire, I hope Mark replaces him as pitching coach for the Sox. Not to take anything away from Buehrle or Konerko, but there is another guy sitting in that Sox dugout that takes a lot of grief and was a better ballplayer than either one of them. -

Buehrle is scheduled to face the Sox on June 28th. That is 5 starts away. With 196 wins currently, there is a realistic chance that Buehrle could be going for win #200 that day. -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh8PAe33Xog Quick little video from the Around the Horn guys talking during a break. Plaschke mentions how the name Buehrle has become a verb around the league and other teams talk about getting Buehrle'd when they get fooled. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 2, 2014 -> 05:45 AM) It's hard to believe that Buehrle is actually earning that awful contract so far this year. He's provided plus value every year of the contract so far. Using fangraphs numbers, he was paid $6 million in 2012 and was worth $8.6 million. In 2013 he was paid $11 million and was worth $12.7 million. So far this year he has been paid approximately $6 million and has been worth $9.7 million. While I still think it was a drastic overpay by the Marlins, he has lived up to the contract. His numbers since leaving the Sox have actually been better across the board than they were with the Sox. -

Great start to the game. Kane to Saad on that goal. Imagine that. -
Buehrle 8 shutout innings. Now 10-1, 2.10 ERA.

QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ May 30, 2014 -> 11:36 AM) They might as well let a position player pitch against Kershaw. No Sale? No win. Since Kershaw's return from injury, he's had 2 great starts, 2 mediocre starts and 1 horrible start. The horrible start was even against the Diamondbacks. With Quintana going, I think we still have a good shot.
