  1. Bulls interested in Fredette http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/10525785...tte-sources-say
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 27, 2014 -> 08:00 AM) Spring training is the worst It wouldn't be quite so bad if it was 6 weeks long.
  3. Anybody else as excited as I am for the Hawks to start back up again tonight?
  4. Comedian Tim Wilson dies at 52 of a heart attack. Anybody that listens to the Bob and Tom show should know his work well.
  5. I wouldn't be too upset with Garcia in the 2 hole, but I'd rather see him hit 3rd where he can be a bit more of a run producer. If Beckham can pull it together, he is a perfect fit for the 2 hole.
  6. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 26, 2014 -> 08:40 AM) We would all love to dump Keppinger but personally, I'd deal Beckham straight up for JR Murphy. Sox could then just play Keppinger at 2B for the time being with Semien taking over at some point soon. I don't think Gordon will be able to hold off Sanchez, Johnson, and Semien for much longer anyway. If Keppinger is enough to get Murphy you do it. I don't think it will take Beckham to get him as the Yankees really don't have a spot for Murphy. Plus if Beckham were to be traded, I think Semien takes over 2B immediately.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 26, 2014 -> 08:36 AM) He's likely to start the season in AA ball and they won't have a place for him on the big league roster for 3 seasons? That actually does sound like a guy a team would trade. It says right in the article they view him as the catcher of the future. They wouldn't have shelled out the money for McCann if they thought Sanchez was close. He just turned 21 years old.
  8. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Feb 25, 2014 -> 11:39 PM) I'd like to see Dunn bat 7th or something. Let Abreu clear the bases. You need Dunn higher up to break up the big right handed bats of Garcia, Abreu and Viciedo.
  9. QUOTE (Dunt @ Feb 26, 2014 -> 08:28 AM) I would open mouth kiss Rick Hahn if he could somehow snag Sanchez They're not looking to deal Sanchez. He will be the everyday catcher once McCann gets moved to 1B/DH, probably in 2017 when Texeira's contract expires.
  10. I would be interested in Murphy, but not so much Romine or Cervelli. Honestly though, if the Yankees are interested in Keppinger and are willing to pay his salary, they can have him for whatever they're willing to send in return.
  11. Because I'm somewhat of a Brewer fan also, I've liked Overbay, Lucroy, Sheets and Jenkins quite a bit over the years.
  12. I really think Harold Ramis is severely underappreciated by the general public as a great percentage of people pay no mind to who writes and directs comedies. I mean look at his filmography. Writer/Director Caddyshack Groundhog Day Analyze This/That Director Vacation Writer Animal House Meatballs Stripes Ghostbusters/ II Back to School Many of these are considered amongst the greatest comedies of all time. He really is amongst the greatest comedic minds to ever live.
  13. I only fly once every few years so my favorite airline would have to be whichever one I can get the cheapest ticket for at that particular time.
  14. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Feb 24, 2014 -> 09:28 PM) SP- Kershaw, Lincecum, Weaver, Bronson Arroyo, Lester, Beckett RP- Papelbon C- Salty 1B- Trumbo, Napoli, Hart, Overbay 2B- Pedroia SS- Hanley Ramirez 3B- Wright, Punto OF- Crawford, Ellsbury, Hamilton, Kemp, McCutchen DH- Ortiz If you couldn't tell, if I didn't love my ChiSox so much (at times, unfortunately) I'd love me my BoSox Damn near half your list would have made my list of LEAST favorite players.
  15. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Feb 21, 2014 -> 05:51 PM) That may be a bit harsh. Do you really think 4 consecutive years with ERA+ of 116, 141, 130, 127 is garbage? I'm not talking about the beginning of his career. He was good then. What I'm talking about is from '09-'13 when he made a total of 84 starts and had an ERA of 5.02 with a 1.449 WHIP and he really wasn't all that great last year.
  16. Before he came to the Sox, it was Dunn. Now it's Colby Rasmus.
  17. I've never really gotten into any sort of auto racing. I do somewhat keep up with who is winning in Nascar, but rarely watch more than a few laps of any race. I was happy that Jr won the Daytona 500 though. If I had to list my favorite driver I would say either him or Matt Kenseth, but I don't lose any sleep if either one finishes last. I've always wanted to go to a Nascar race as I've heard it is a completely different experience in person.
  18. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Feb 23, 2014 -> 07:07 AM) Beckham for Cano Only if the mariners pick up half of Cano's contract. That contract is going to be horrible in a few years.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 21, 2014 -> 04:47 PM) How is throwing $22 million at Scott Kazmir over two years EVER considered a good move? Thats what i was thinking. The guy hardly pitches for years and was garbage when he did, then he comes back and has a decent season and all of the sudden he is worth $22 million over 2?
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 20, 2014 -> 01:50 PM) I was at a game either last season or the season before where someone, I think on the Royals, hit one into the last section of the club level down the LF line. Supposedly in BP, Barry Bonds hit one down the RF line in the upper deck that went into the last exit. Even roided up, that is quite a poke. Is this the one you're thinking of? Justin Maxwell from the Astros. http://m.mlb.com/video/v22185601/
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 20, 2014 -> 01:31 PM) Supposedly in BP Garcia hits the ball as far as Dunn. His problem is during games he hits groundballs at the same rate as slap hitters, and doesn't get on base via anything but a hit very often. If he can get the ball in the air, he could be a huge power guy, but that is easier said than done. I think it was Garfein that tweeted that Garcia hit the front of the fundamentals deck last year in BP. I don't think that's ever been done in a game as the only two guys we've had that kind of power have been left handed (Thome, Dunn). Frank certainly would have hit it a couple times had it been there during his prime. That takes big time power. Garcia, Abreu and Viciedo have that kind of power but like you said, Garcia just doesn't get the ball in the air enough and Tank seems to hit either ropes that just get over the fence or insanely high fly ball homeruns.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 20, 2014 -> 11:18 AM) Dan Hayes ‏@DanHayesCSN 1m Konerko on A. Garcia: He can be average & power, he can go out & hit .260 w/ 40 HRs. He really has potential to be monster in this league. I doubt either of those things will happen. I don't think he'll ever hit 40. I think he'll probably max out around 30 give or take. And I'll be disappointed if he only hits .260. I think Garcia at his best will be very similar to Alex Rios at his best. .280-.300 with 20-30 homeruns and I'm okay with that.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 20, 2014 -> 11:33 AM) I don't know why players are supposedly done when they hit 30. I think Carlton Fisk was 33 or 34 when he came to the White Sox. Mike Trout is going to get paid into his 30s with his next contract. If he were a White Sox, I guess you would want them to trade him instead of being stuck with an "albotross". A $50 million contract isn't an albatross to the White Sox. They still made moves when they had Adam Dunn signed to one. Konerko came back. AJ came back. They spent $68 million for Abreu and he will be past 30 when it expires. They were going to spend almost double that for Tanaka. Buy their line they are right at their breaking point. But remember when you do, you are ignoring their actions the past several years. Who said the Sox were at their breaking point. Hahn has repeatedly said that there was money available for the right players, just that they were not going to spend money for the sake of spending money. I think all questions of whether the Sox are willing to spend went right out the window when they offered a 6/120 deal to a pitcher who's never pitched in the Majors.
  24. I've always wondered just how much money is involved in these kind of deals.
  25. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 20, 2014 -> 11:07 AM) Last year, the Yankees received significant playing time from Chris Stewart, Lyle Overybay, Eduardo Nunez, Jayson Nix, Vernon Wells, Ichiro Suzuki, Travis Hafner, David Adams, and Austin Romine. Overbay's OPS was .688 and Hafner's .679, which were the best out of that group. Tell me some more about how Alex Rodriguez's contract didn't affect them. Now, considering it doesn't count against their payroll this year, while shedding a few other contracts, they were able to bring in a few new players while staying under the luxury tax. They won't be under it next year. Everytime I think of Chris Stewart being the starting catcher for the New York Yankees I just have to laugh. They handed out bad contract after bad contract and it finally started to affect them. This year they lucked out with the A-Rod suspension. It would be interesting to know whether they would have still signed all three of Ellsbury, McCann and Tanaka had the whole A-Rod thing not happened.
