  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 16, 2013 -> 12:00 PM) Can't drive a stick shift and/or won't drive a large vehicle. Those are really the only reasons I can ever imagine, and those are bad reasons. Those are two possibilities. Also, some people just do not let others drive their car. I'm one of them.
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 16, 2013 -> 10:59 AM) Are alcoholics forced to drive after they drink? No, that's not the point I'm arguing, but you just keep on ignoring the fact that you made one of the stupidest statements I've ever read in that people have all the control over alcohol.
  3. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 16, 2013 -> 10:53 AM) Be addicted all you want, do it in your own home and don't drive. You stated people have all the control over alcohol, which coming from a family with a history of alcoholism, pisses me the f*** off because it's so untrue.
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 16, 2013 -> 10:46 AM) I'm just saying, I hate when people talk about alcohol like it's this uncontrollable product that's inherently dangerous. Individuals have all the power over alcohol. YOU choose where you drink, YOU choose how much you drink, etc. Yea let's just pretend like addiction isn't a real thing.
  5. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ May 16, 2013 -> 10:37 AM) Sale, Peavy and Axelrod you're right. Hector has been a short sample size but you seem to be right. Quintana I would argue otherwise. How many times has he had a fielder make an error that he can't pitch over. Look at his 5th and 6th innings this year. He fades. I disagree with that. Quinatana showed all last year that he has balls and has no fear on the mound.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 16, 2013 -> 10:41 AM) Do the businesses also provide transportation TO their locations? It's simply an unrealistic idea. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 16, 2013 -> 10:42 AM) It's a lot more realistic than expecting people to not drink and drive because of fines and suspensions. In my area, which is in the middle of nowhere, we have a business called the Road Crew. It's sponsored by the local taverns and provides rides for people to and from the bar within a 30 mile radius for a minimal fee. $5 gets you a one way ride, $8 to use the service all night.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 16, 2013 -> 10:41 AM) Hah...this is true! Maybe they could make some kind of aftermarket device that is required... They already make them. People with multiple DUIs have to pay to have them installed in their cars.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 16, 2013 -> 10:34 AM) Why not? Automakers are putting all kinds of stuff in cars...why can't they do this? It's easy to do to the cars, but it's the legal battle that would be tough. Why should somebody who's never had a drink in their life have to blow into a device everytime they want to start their car?
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 16, 2013 -> 09:04 AM) That's completely moronic. People being "too drunk to realize they are too drunk to drive" is completely asinine. When you've had ten beers, you know you shouldn't be driving. When you're hammered, you know it. You still make that choice. I've done it. Not proud of it, but I've done it. I've also realized the entire time I was driving that if I were to get pulled over I'd be completely f***ed. I don't do it anymore, but I have. And I also knew what I was doing was wrong. EDIT AND STUPID Are you really trying to argue that drinking doesn't effect your decision making?
  10. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 15, 2013 -> 04:31 PM) No, it's a safety issue. It should be as low as they could possibly make it. Zero tolerance, even. If it were zero tolerance, 90% of the bars in my area would be forced to close. There is no cab service and many of them are out in the country where you cannot walk to them.
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 15, 2013 -> 04:41 PM) I've seriously been standing in one spot, smoking a cigarette, and fallen on my face before. I don't know how anybody could ever get that drunk and drive. It's because at that point your decision making is severely impaired. It's not like most people plan on going out and getting bombed and then driving. You may plan to go to the bar for 2 or 3 beers, but then a couple buddies come in and you end up having like 10 and all of the sudden you are too drunk to realize that you're too drunk to drive.
  12. QUOTE (Lillian @ May 13, 2013 -> 11:44 AM) Yes, ideally, that's true. But finding 3 or 4 guys is going to be even more difficult than one impact left handed bat, at least in the short run. Moreover, not having that impact bat makes it harder for the rest of the lineup to perform. There is no protection for anyone with this lineup. I heard Grady Sizemore might be available. Any interest in him?
  13. QUOTE (Lillian @ May 13, 2013 -> 09:29 AM) In the meantime, would you continue to play Dunn, and if not, whom among players already on the roster, would you play in his place? You just have to play Dunn and hope he comes out of it. Maybe sit him against tough lefties, but other than that he just has to play.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2013 -> 09:16 AM) Joey Crawford is officiating tonight game, just in case Bulls fans though their was a chance in this one. Our only hope is that Joey T's up Lebron or Wade for all their constant whining about not getting foul calls.
  15. QUOTE (G&T @ May 9, 2013 -> 03:09 PM) Nystagmus does not occur until bac reaches about .1. And I'm going to guess you didn't "pass" the other tests. You just thought you did. Or I did because the cop told me I did. But hey, you're right, because you know you were there and all.
  16. QUOTE (G&T @ May 9, 2013 -> 01:12 PM) The eye test is highly predictive of bac above .08. Walk and turn is even 80% predictive if I'm not mistaken. They aren't as bad as people think. In any event, they are only used for probable cause to arrest and are taken as a whole with witness observations of actual driving, and other indicators of alcohol like odor, speech, lack of concentration etc. Usually for other drugs the driver is confused, disoriented, eyes are dilated, lack motor skills but no odor of alcohol. They field sobriety tests will confirm officer observations, generally. Then they can get a blood test which now requires a warrant. The effectiveness of the tests is dependent on which side of the law you practice. Science actually supports their use and are still the best we have. But I'm a prosecutor. If you've had anything to drink, you will fail the eye test. I don't think it should be a part of the sobriety test. No matter what your tolerance is, if you are at a certain BAC you will fail. When I received my OWI, I passed everything easily except for the eye test.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 8, 2013 -> 10:40 PM) b**** look like a combo of Glenn Close and Hulk Hogan. Hilarious. The guy with Snooki as his avatar is criticizing women's looks. Sure the woman in this picture is nasty, but Snooki is about as gross as it gets.
  18. QUOTE (TitoMB @ May 8, 2013 -> 10:15 PM) I actually enjoy watching him "field". It's quite comical. He's not nearly as bad as you guys make him out to be with the glove. Yea he is below average, but so is Konerko. Dunn is actually pretty decent at scooping throws and has more range than Konerko. I think Hawk has tricked a lot of people into thinking Konerko is a good first basemen.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ May 8, 2013 -> 08:17 PM) I love how the Bulls b**** and whine about calls and get technicals in a 40 point blowout. The Heat complain a lot to the refs but guess what, so do the Bulls. The point is that it is a complete disrespect to quit making obvious calls just because it is a blow out. The Bulls have been jobbed all game and are just letting their frustrations out. I don't blame them.
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 8, 2013 -> 03:39 PM) ITS STILL FLAT I am saying this is like saying a square is a rectangle but a rectangle isn't a square, and that I called a square (high top fade) a rectangle (flat top). It is a flat top, it's just something white people can't grow. (this is so much better than talking about Derrick Rose, who incidentally would look good with a high-flat-top fade) Yea, but that's like just saying that Rollie Fingers has a mustache. No, he has a "handlebar" mustache. Sure it is a mustache, but you gotta be a little more specific.
  21. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ May 8, 2013 -> 12:57 PM) It's the hair. Derrick's gotta grow one of those high top hairstyles (whatever they're called). QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 8, 2013 -> 01:40 PM) Flat top It's a "high-top fade". It's pretty much the same as a flat-top, but a flat-top is generally not as high.
