This deal is a steal. Kind of surprised Sale signed for so cheap.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 7, 2013 -> 11:19 AM) Thanks John. They locked you up and you rewarded them with 53.2 IP of 5.70 ERA and 4 months on the DL. Worry about living up to your own contract, instead of how much $$$ your teammates are making. He was saying this as a compliment to Sale. Basically saying he's the one guy the Sox should try to keep around as long as possible. It has absolutely nothing to do with him being worried about Sale getting paid.

Ever been to a sporting event by yourself?
lasttriptotulsa replied to zenryan's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I've never been to a game by myself, but if I lived closer to a venue or was on business near a venue I would definitely do it. I wouldn't fell weird about it at all. -
QUOTE (SoIL @ Feb 21, 2013 -> 09:27 AM) Almost every Sox game on Fox here in So. IL is replaced by any National League game. Not just the Cub or Cardinal games you'd expect. Which the last couple of years has meant no Saturday baseball. Same for me in the Southwest corner of WI. They will play like a Rockies/Padres game, or something odd like that, instead of the Sox. Makes no sense what so ever.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 21, 2013 -> 09:37 AM) If you are inside the Sox "territory" you can't get any of their games on mlb.tv (or MLB Extra Innings) I realize that. I've gotten MLB EI or MLB.tv various years to watch my favorite players not on the Sox (Frank, Buehrle, Rasmus, etc..). What I'm saying is that its ridiculous that there is no possible way for me to watch games on WCIU (except for illegal streams off the net). Baseball really needs to address their blackout policy. If I can't get a game locally, which WCIU I cannot, then the game should be available on MLB.tv or EI.
-
I really wish they would do away with WCIU. I pay $100/month for satellite and $125/year for MLB.tv and still don't get all the Sox games even though I am in their "territory". Really pisses me off.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 18, 2013 -> 01:16 PM) I think Ehlo scored the last 7 points for the Cavs in that game, including the go-ahead lay-up with 6 seconds left. Jordan hit with 6 seconds left, then Ehlo hit with 3 seconds left and then of course Jordan at the buzzer. Crazy, crazy finish.

Rose to start 5 on 5 practice after the break and see how he is from there. Per Paxson.

I think its all a smoke screen and D-Rose will be back in a couple weeks.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 12, 2013 -> 10:35 AM) As an aside, I hate this phrase. Just say 100%. You can't physically give or be at 110%. I hate this as well. Anybody ever see the man show where Adam Carolla and Jimmy Kimmel went to Dodgers camp for a "tryout"? They kept telling Tommy Lasorda they were gonna give 110% and he went off on them saying you can only give 100%, there is no 110%.

My thoughts on last night's Grammy's -Taylor Swift is just awful and seems to get worse everytime I hear/see her -Jack White, The Black Keys and the Levon Helm tribute were all top notch performances -Katy Perry is awful but has a nice rack -While I don't care for Kelly Clarkson's music, she does have a set of pipes on her -Frank Ocean's performance was dreadful and served as my comic relief for the night -I don't get the Mumford and Son's appeal -Alabama Shakes should have taken at least one of their 3 nominations -Jack White should have gotten Album of the Year I also don't understand why they can't find time in the broadcast to show the Rock album and Rock performance Grammy's but can show both Best Urban-Contemporary Album and the Rap Collaboration awards. Seems to me like the best Rock Album award should be bigger than either of those. Otherwise cut out some of the pathetic performances and show more awards.

QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 6, 2013 -> 06:37 PM) Might as well have USPS Mailbox stores. Require people outside of city centers to have PO Boxes. This is pretty common in small towns. My town is about 1000 people and we don't have mail delivery. We have to go to the PO every day to get our mail. The nice thing is that first class is required to be in the box by 9:00 AM.
-
My old man is a mail carrier and I'm sure he is going to be thrilled. Currently he only ends up with 5 or 6 Saturdays off a year.

This is the first full year I've owned my house so I got to see what actually being able to itemize deductions was like. I'm getting about $2000 back, but it's all going straight to my parents for a little loan they give me when I bought the house.

Per the Bulls text message service: Nate Robinson named Eastern Conference player of the week.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Jan 31, 2013 -> 05:30 PM) I'd bet censor rules gradually relax, and within roughly 15 or so years, you will probably see boobies on FX/AMC. Cable channels could show nudity now if they wanted. The censors can't regulate it because it's "pay" tv. The reason that they don't is because they know they will lose too many sponsors.

Voted. Good luck. Be awesome to have the Sox represented in the fan cave and would be double awesome to have it be someone from Soxtalk.
-
Not a chance in hell. Not only is he a shell of his former self, but he's also a cancer. Not a whole lot of point having this discussion because there is a very slim chance that his contract gets voided.
-
A return around the All-Star break is looking very realistic for D-Rose. With him not being limited physically, I can't imagine that he is going to need more than 2-3 weeks practice to be good to go.

Should MLB allow a 26th man?
lasttriptotulsa replied to The Ultimate Champion's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I wish that they allowed a 27 man roster, but you are only able to dress 25. Then if a guy has a sprained ankle or something and is out a couple days you dont dress him and your not playing short handed. Each team could have one reserve pitcher and one reserve position player. -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 25, 2013 -> 10:32 AM) @TyDunne League sources tell @realfreemancbs that the #Packers are one team interested in Revis. Well, that'd be something... I doubt he get's traded. I also doubt the Packers would trade for him, but it would be cool to get him. This is highly unlikely to me. I'd imagine the Jets are going to want some top draft picks and trading picks for expensive, veteran talent is not Ted Thompson's style at all. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 12:58 PM) Even as a massive MJ fan, and someone who really doesn't like LeBron, the ONLY place that MJ is better, is his killer mentality. LeBron is bigger, stronger, faster, a better shooter, and a better defender. I'll give you that LeBron is bigger and stronger, but I don't buy for a minute that LeBron is faster, a better shooter and definitely not a better defender. Jordan's first step is as fast as anybody's that's ever played the game. LeBron does not nearly have the jumper that Jordan developed during his first retirement. Calling LeBron a better defender kinda makes me laugh. Jordan had multiple 200 steal / 100 block seasons. Lebron has not done either one of those things in any season, let alone in the same season.
