  1. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 25, 2012 -> 11:32 AM) Because I hate them And like the article says, they got in the playoffs on a bad call in a Bucs/Lions game. They didn't b**** back then, don't b**** now...also, blame your offense more for not putting up more points. This is a pretty moronic statement. You say the Packers deserve to be f***ed over by the officials because of a previous bad call by the officials in a game the Packers were not even playing in? That might be the dumbest thing I've heard in awhile. Also, the Packers would have put up more points if the interception they had deep in Seahawks territory would have not been called back on a bulls*** roughing the passer call. All in all, this game sucked. No team deserves to have a win taken from them like that.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 12:40 AM) Are you crazy? I don't follow this team 365 days a year for my health. So which day are you picking this year to not follow them?
  3. I don't think anybody ever thought there was a chance they would pick it up, but I see them at least making him an offer to try and stay. Their rotation is looking pretty left-handed for next year and I can't think of any suitable righties in the orginization. They will more than likely have to add a righty from the free agent market unless they plan on letting Myer's option kick in and moving him to the rotation. I think too, that Gavin Floyd will be traded in the offseason so that's even one less right-hander.
  4. I went to the game yesterday and sported a mustache. Shaved off my beard and then shaved off the mustache as soon as I got home from the game because it looked ridiculous. Only day in my life I've ever had just a mustache without a beard.
  5. With the Sox playing KC and Detroit playing Oakland there's no reason that we shouldn't still be up at least 3 at the end of this series. Time to take care of business.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 02:45 PM) This person is coming from Wisconsin. Just park in the UC parking lot and pay the money. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 02:46 PM) Totally this. Yea, I don't mind paying. Just wanna do whatever's gonna be the safest and easiest.
  7. Hey, just looking for some advice as an out of towner that's gonna make my first trip to the United Center here in a few weeks. I'm going to see Neil Young and Crazy Horse October 11th and have never been to the UC. The gates open at 6:00 and I would like to be there a little before that. It takes me about three hours to Chicago from the SW corner of WI and not real sure how long its gonna take to get to the UC from the 'burbs and what times are best to drive through the city. I'm from a small town and not real familiar with the big city or cities in general. Also, any advice on parking and anything else is much appreciated.
  8. So, the new Bob Dylan came out today. Pretty solid effort. It's amazing that after 35 studio albums, the man still has something to say and should be heard.
  9. Senior year of high school. Right at the end of Physics class 1st hour, somebody said a plane hit the World Trade Center. As did everyone else, I assumed an accident. The teachers throughout the school immediately turned on the tvs and we tuned in just in time to see the 2nd plane hit. Obviously at that point it was no accident. School remained in session, but pretty much every class had the tv on the entire time and we watched almost non stop the rest of the day. When I got home from school that day, I remember talking to my father. He was a 20+ year vet of the National Guard and had served in Desert Storm. Shortly before this all went down, he had been granted early retirement. I think he took it pretty hard because in the back of his mind he knew this would lead to a war of some sorts and his platoon that he had just left would be called to duty. I also remember people lining up at the gas pumps because everyone knew gas prices would skyrocket the next day.
  10. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 12:37 PM) The most accurate grading scale for the speeches is as follows: Barack Obama : The usual Obama speech. I thought it was pretty good, he has a lot of stage presence and it is amplified now that he is president. Grade: B Michele Obama: The speech was terrible and it filled with falsehoods; such as her claim she grew up lower middle class. Her father was politically connected and worked a corporate job that paid, in today's dollars, over 280K a year. Grade: F Paul Ryan: One of the best convention speeches in a long time. Very accurate and to the point. Grade: A+ Mitt Romney: Not very good. Boring, no details, he looked liked like a rookie (eyes shadily looking around and glassed over a little). Grade: D- Seriously?? Ryan spewed blatant lies for much of his speech. Such as blaming Obama for the closing of the Janesville auto plant that closed before he was even in office. I guess it's easy to have a good speech when you don't care about the truth.
  11. QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Sep 7, 2012 -> 01:36 PM) Do the Sox wear green pinstripes on HWTSPD? In other years they wore green hats and jerseys with green pinstripes and green letters/numbers. I would assume this year would be the same. Gives them one more thing to sell in the gift shops.
  12. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 03:58 PM) i was baiting, you took the bait. I knew what you were doing, but there are a lot of people that do think that way.
  13. I very rarely read the "catch all" thread. Most of the time I forget it's even there.
  14. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 01:20 PM) I will be attending 3 (three) of the next 6 (six) White Sox home games. I'm a true fan. Discuss. I wish I had the ability to go to a lot of games. But, living 180 miles away and being broke as a joke I only get to a game every year or two. I don't think my fandom should be questioned because of the fact that I just can't get to games.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 01:32 PM) Yeah, I don't get it. Do they only allow school or work e-mail addresses?? Not everybody has one of those or uses it. I went to sign up over there awhile back and the only way I could was to use my work email. Didn't really feel like giving them my work email so I said screw it, that board kinda sucks anyways. One can only stand so many "this thread blows" or "teal police" pictures before he goes insane.
  16. QUOTE (balfanman @ Sep 6, 2012 -> 07:10 AM) Um....Tyler Flowers.......Whats his name, the big power hitting, strong armed catcher that started with Texas, played for Detroit, Miami (won World Series), Yankees, I think. Ivan Rodriguez. Never caught, but in my opinion as obvious of steroid user as there has been. As soon as the testing and suspensions started, he came back the next season skinny as hell. It was almost comical in my opinion.
  17. Since most people are giving the standard Hendrix, Mercury, Lennon answers, I'll go with a little less popular answer and say Danny Whitten from Crazy Horse. Most have never heard of him, but man was he a talent. Listen to Neil Young's - Live From the Fillmore East and hear just how amazing the band was when Whitten was alive. His death was also the inspiration for Neil Young's famed "Ditch Trilogy" of albums. Young was in a great depression because he had fired Whitten because he was too messed up and gave him a plane ticket and some money to enter rehab, well Whitten took that money and scored some dope with it and overdosed and died. That emotion led Young to record possibly the best three albums of his career.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 11:15 AM) This is a big game. If Kansas City can miraculously sweep the Tigers, we will be up 4 going into Detroit with a win today. It takes a lot of pressure off the club IMO. I believe the Royals have Cy-Guthrie going tonight too, so there is hope.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 08:22 AM) I'm pretty sure you can also make a replacement for anyone who ends up on the DL, correct? QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 08:39 AM) Right, I mentioned that in my last sentence. I believe that they have to be on the 40-man as of August 31 and it requires league approval. Also, must be a player of the same position. I.E. if a pitcher goes down you can't use that as a reason to put an infielder on the roster.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 30, 2012 -> 08:38 AM) What about the psychological effect on Detroit? If the Sox go in there with a 3 game lead, the pressure is entirely on Detroit. They aren't likely to sweep again, but they will feel like they have to. I agree. Detroit knows that if the Sox have a 3 game lead going in, they cannot get swept. 6 games in September is awfully tough even with the 4 gamer they have in a couple weeks.
  21. To me this is a pretty important game. If they win this one, then there is no way they can leave the Detroit series not in first place even if they get swept. I think it could do great damage to the psyche of the team if we went to Detroit and they swept us out of first place.
  22. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 29, 2012 -> 02:06 PM) Meanwhile Verlander gave up 19 in 180 pitches, at least we got him out of their early. I didn't quite understand why Leyland left Verlander in so long. He was getting beat down by the Royals, yet he leaves him in to throw 120 pitches when it' obvious he just didn't have it. They were off Monday I believe, so it's not like the bullpen was that worn down. But, I guess a manager that's been around that long knows what he's doing so I won't question him too much.
  23. I'm calling BS on this one. I'm willing to bet Danks is involved only because he is the one with the money. The one guy probably got hurt screwing around and made up the story of Danks just to get paid. It doesn't make any logical sense at all that Danks would prevent him from calling 911 and then move him unless there is a lot more to the story than is being mentioned.
  24. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) I'd rather be entertained then hear what I'm seeing. I agree. I don't think Hawk could ever be a radio PBP guy, but on TV I think he's fine. You can see whats happening on TV so you don't need to be told what's happening every second like you do on the radio. As a matter of fact, I sometimes like a little "dead air" because it helps me pick up a little of the sounds and atmosphere around the ballpark without somebody talking over all the sounds all the time.
