  1. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 01:35 PM) Purchase? Like you mean spend money? Actually I have Dish right now, which might have been a mistake. I am thinking of going back to local cable which has MLB extra innings I have Dish also. I am within the Sox local area so I get all the games (except WCIU), but I like to be able to watch other teams too so I got the MLB.tv and got the app for my X-box and it is just awesome. I highly recommend it.
  2. QUOTE (Nokona @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 09:34 PM) I swear that I may be imagining this (or possibly it's a Farmer call) but Frank hit a walkoff against the Twins sometime in 03 or 04 after a wild game and it went SWUNG ON DEEP AND INTO THE NIGHT YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD That sounds like a Farmer call to me.
  3. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 08:50 AM) FWIW: KW has had an offer out there for a while now for Greinke. It's substantial and includes key mlb roster talent. Sox are very determined to land him. If the "key mlb roster talent" is anything other than say Gavin Floyd, I think it would be over paying for a two month rental. That is unless the feel strongly they could re-sign him.
  4. I would love Greinke if the price is right. Definitely not worth emptying the farm system for a 2 month rental especially with the new rules regarding comp picks. Is their some bad history between Greinke and A.J. I thought I heard they don't get along.
  5. QUOTE (DaveBrown85 @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 03:43 PM) If Tim McCarver is HOF i dont see why hawk wouldnt be Really no broadcaster is in the Hall. The Ford Frick Award is presented by the Hall but their not inducted or technically considered HOFers.
  6. Stern says it will bring in 100 million in league revenue a year. Considering there's 30 teams in the NBA, that's just over 3 million per team. Thats really not that much at all. Definitely not worth it to look like the WNBA.
  7. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 11:31 AM) I just want to point out how HUGE a series win against BOS would be given that we are throwing Axelrod, Humber, and Hernandez against them. Setting up the DET series with Sale, Peavy, and Quintana could be one of the pivotal decisions of this season. It's a four gamer with the Sawx. Quintana going tomorrow. Looks like Sale, Peavy and Humber for the Tigers series.
  8. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 07:25 PM) What channel is CSN+ on Dish? Usually 442, but apparently not tonight. Doesn't seem like its anywhere I can find on Dish.
  9. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 07:14 PM) I don't think Dish has CSN-Plus. But this will be on CSN as soon as that Cubs laugher is over. So in a half hour or so. I get all the other games on CSN-Plus. CSNChicago.com says it should usually be 442 but thats the Cards. Stupid Cubs, only gonna be able to watch the first 3 or 4 innings tonight. Guess I won't be able to watch any.
  10. Says it's on CSN-Plus? Anybody know the channel for Dish Network? Looked through all of them on the guide, can't seem to find it.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 12, 2012 -> 08:08 AM) Didn't the games used to start back up on Thursday? Yea. I'm pretty sure this is the first year of the 4-day break.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 2, 2012 -> 11:37 AM) I would have thought Ozzie Smith in the early point of his career had some really low batting averages as an All-Star, maybe 240's or 250's? 230's? Good call. In '83 Ozzie Smith was hitting .205 with a .526 OPS at the break.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 01:28 PM) How are his walk totals? Anytime you have a guy who won't take a walk you'll get this type of streaky result. Some of the bombs he's hit like the line driver homers at the Cell to rightfield make you realize what a talented hitter he can be. I just can't see him ever becoming patient enough, though, to be an all star. The odds are really against hitters who hack away at almost every single pitch. Why is dan Johnson in the Sox system? If he has 18 hrs the Sox should trade him for scraps to somebody who will play the guy. Viciedo's last year at AAA he had 45 walks in 119 games for a respectable .364 OBP vs just 11 walks the year before. It appears that longer he played the more comfortable and patient he became. I am hoping for this same kind of adjustment at the Major League level and I don't think it's too much of a stretch for it to happen.
  14. I've always felt that people don't appreciate Collins near as much as they should. He was not only one of the great White Sox, but one of the greatest players, period.
  15. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 02:33 PM) Can't really complain between the injury and the pure bad he's been so far, but I think it could have probably gotten better. 50 sporadic PAs this year isn't really indicative of what he would provide in the long run. I agree that had Fukodome gotten more playing time he wouldn't have been near as bad, but I love that fact that their going with Danks. His bat should be just as good. Combine that with his youth, ability to run the bases and his stellar defense and he's a great fourth outfielder.
  16. Wow. Looking at the results, the people who are voting don't seem to have a clue. Frank #6? Ed Walsh #48? I mean the man only has the lowest career E.R.A. in baseball history. Eddie Collins #25? I put my top 5 as Thomas, Jackson, Collins, Walsh, Appling.
  17. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 8, 2012 -> 10:09 AM) The worst is when that happens at work, I'm always afraid the pants will really rip and nothing you can do but have a nice walk of shame to your car. I caught the pocket of my swish pants on a stair railing one time and it ripped them wide open all the way down my leg. Luckily I was at home.
  18. Nice. 8 and 19 are probably my favorites.
  19. I wouldn't be too upset to see him do well and take over Fukodome's spot for good.
  20. If this last month is the real Beckham, I would consider giving him a deal. Maybe a 3-4 year deal. I believe he is in his first Arb. year next year so you would be buying out his arbitration years and one year of free agency. I would probably do the same with Viciedo. If he's as legit as he seems, his arbitration years could be very expensive so I would try and buy them out. I would wait on Sale to see how he responds to a full year or two starting in the majors, but he also could be very expensive through arbitration if this season is any indicator.
  21. Be sure when you do sell and write a "bill of sale" that you state on there that the car is being sold "as is" with no warranty or guarentees implied.
