QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 20, 2012 -> 02:34 PM) I loved the cartoon and the original movie when it came out. I haven't seen the original movie in a long time. Does it still hold up? I think the first movie still holds up. I'm 28 and watch it about once a year. I think when you watch it as an adult you realize how much it really wasn't a movie made for kids.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 20, 2012 -> 01:17 PM) I really don't get the uproar. Its Michael Bay. Are you expecting anything other than a horrible joke of a movie? Regardless of how they "retell the story"? It is going to be hot garbage anyway. I think many of the fanboys are upset because for the past few years we've heard rumours of a "dark" live action TMNT that would closely follow the comic books. Now it comes out with Michael Bay's name attached to it and its just a huge let down. I really see this being like TMNT 3 in the fact that its made more for kids with a stupid alien origin story for the turtles. I would honestly rather watch the Turtles "Coming Out of Their Shells" than see this crapfest that will be Michael Bay's "re-imagining".

I am an Engineering Technician at the company I work for. We make small electric motors and are constantly having "Lean Manufacturing" crammed down our throats. We have so many "un-necessary" positions at our company that add huge amounts to our overall cost of goods. Of course we are a Union shop and it makes it kind of difficult to get rid of people so we are always looking for other ways to get rid of cost. The majority of our cost savings comes out of ways to make our machines put out more parts per hour. A huge part of that is reducing our setup time on our CNC machines. We have done that in many different ways. First, the company wanted every machine operator to be able to do their own setups. This really does not work. Some people take 2 hours to do a setup while another takes 20 minutes to do the same part. In instances like this we have changed job titles around so that only certain people can do setups. I would say we have reduced overall setup time by a half hour on average per job. We value our machine time around $65/hr so in a years time, that is a lot of money. Every engineer in the building is required once per year to come up with a "Green Belt" project, which is a principle of Six Sigma. These are just ways to cut cost and manufacture parts different to reduce scrap, etc... In my experience most of these type of projects look good on paper, but are hard to implement and usually get tossed aside. Overall, its a headache. I have many times come up with what I thought were good ideas that have been shot down. I tend to not let it bother me anymore so then when one does get implemented finally, I can feel good about it.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 14, 2012 -> 09:47 AM) Unfortunately, this game is one of my lasting memories of Valentin. Pedro was being Pedro, but Mike Sirotka hung in there but lost 1-0 because Jose threw a routine grounder over Paulie's head. Man, thinking back on that, the heart of that lineup was impressive. Too bad they disappeared in the playoffs.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 04:18 PM) And now that I read this thread, LZ Physical Graffiti as their best album? Thats pretty controversial, personally I think the top tier of albums is 2 through Holy, then I and Physical. And even then I cant say which one is my top because it depends on the day, my mood and what intoxication. Also interesting to go with Dark Side as the top Pink Floyd record, because based on that I would have thought youd go with IV for LZ (both being the most commercially successful album). There is really no wrong choice with Pink Floyd, Dark Side, Animals, Wall all could be there, you could even argue Meddle and the song "One of these days" really is the starting point for their entire style. I agree totally about DSOTM. I just listed that cause thats what most people rank as the highest. Personally I like Wish You Were Here or Animals as my favorite. Meddle is up there too. Any album with Echoes and Fearless on it would have to be ranked high. I think Fearless is probably my favorite Floyd song.

QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 02:04 PM) A lawyer would be in for a minimum of $300 trillion if they win the case. Hell, settling before court for $450 trillion would be a sweet paycheck. If they settled for one-millionth of one percent it would still be $9,000,000

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 12:46 PM) Oh get the f*** over yourself. This is why all music discussions are inherently stupid. People like what they like, and saying something as ridiculously offputting as you did above makes me want to find you and punch you in the nose. Who are you to say what other people should enjoy when it comes to music? QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 12:50 PM) Your complete neglect of "Superunknown" and "Badmotorfinger" also makes me want to punch you. Entirely agreed on "Dirt" though. What a great album. I don't give a crap what other people like, it don't matter to me one bit. But there are certain things that in music that are just facts. Its a fact that Bob Dylan is a more imporant artist then Nickleback, its a fact that Highway 61 Revisited changed music as we know it, its a fact that Jimi Hendrix completely reimagined the electric guitar in ways that had never been thought of. People's opinions are their opinions and thats fine, but there is a difference between saying an album is one of your top ten albums and saying its one of the top ten albums ever period. Also I didn't purposely neglect Superunknown and Badmotorfinger, there both killer albums and I would take either one over anything Nirvana ever did. As far as Seattle "Grunge" bands go, my opinion is AIC, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam then Nirvana.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 08:36 AM) Well, I think this is age relative, to be honest. I can understand how one could make an argument for any of those albums, I suppose, and I obviously cannot say that anyone's opinion is incorrect. I think you would face quite a bit of opposition, however, if you stated that Ten did not belong on a list of the best rock albums of all time. If we are talking a list of the top 100 rock albums of all time, I would have no qualms with "Ten" being on there. If were talking top 10, 25, or even 50 I would strongly disagree.
-
In my opinion "Ten" is superior to "Nevermind", but I'm never been sold on Nirvana being as great as many made them out to be. I think AIC's "Dirt" is better then either. In my opinion tho, the best album of the 90's is Bob Dylan's "Time Out of Mind" followed closely by Neil Young/Crazy Horse's "Ragged Glory".

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 08:24 AM) Oh give me a break..this is entirely subjective. You would be perfectly within all respectable boundaries to say Ten is every bit as influential to the musical landscape as f***ing Dark Side of the Moon, which is perhaps the most overrated album in the history of f***ing music. Jimi Hendrix, while one of the best guitarists to ever live, did not release an album that deserves to be in the top ten albums of all time. I love Stevie Wonder more than just about anyone I ever encounter, but there is PLENTY of room for debate as to whether he belongs on any list ahead of Pearl Jam's Ten. Ten is on plenty of top 50 lists, and plenty of top 25 lists, and ranked as high as 11th of all time by a few publications. To say it doesn't belong with these other albums is pure subjective nonsense. I'm not necessarily saying those are my top ten albums ever, its just a few that are clearly superior off the top of my head in a few seconds. And to put Ten in the same class as TDSOTM is just non-sense.

To me IV is about their fourth best album.

I'm assuming the list only counted those eligible, I.E. not Pete Rose or Shoeless Joe?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 07:59 AM) And there's the polarization on this band that triggered the thread. It's certainly a good album, but it just cannot compare to other albums that have basically changed the entire music landscape, and in some cases the world. Bob Dylan- Highway 61 Revisited Beatles- Sgt. Peppers Jimi Hendrix Experience- Electric Ladyland Neil Young- After the Gold Rush Led Zeppelin- Physical Graffiti Stevie Wonder- Songs in the Key of Life Rolling Stones- Exile on Main Street Pink Floyd- Dark Side of the Moon Buffalo Springfield- Buffalo Springfield Again Pearl Jam- Ten I mean one of these albums just does not belong in this list and its pretty obvious which one it is

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 06:54 AM) So you're saying it's a little unreasonable? Maybe just a little. My guess is she made up a number and didn't know what came after "trillion". If I was her, I would have gone for the cool One Quadrillion.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 06:56 AM) But those songs are barely PJ at all. There are a ton of people that have Ten as a top 10 album, and I already said I feel that Yield is a top 25 album. In fact, I'd be lying if I said I hated the album. In fact, I love it. Moreso, tracks 4 (Why Go), and then 7-11 (without looking up I believe it goes Oceans, Porch, Garden, Deep, Release (which is also the only song I ever had a great trip to when I still smoked). But many people and 99.9% of radio stations are overexposed to their "super" hits that they are turned off to the band itself...those mentioned above. The same thing happens with The Beatles too. I have The Beatles' "#1" CD but I refuse to let anybody ever play it, because there is no value ever captured in that CD...it's snatching great lines from great poems and piecing them all together... Anybody that has "Ten" as a top ten album, needs a lesson in music history. I wouldn't even put it in the top ten albums of the '90s.

$900,000,000,000,000 is roughly 15,000 times the net worth of Bill Gates and 60 times the entire GDP of the United States.

I am not a HUGE Pearl Jam fan, but I can certainly appreciate them. The only albums I have are Ten, VS, and Vitalogy. Also the fact that I am about the biggest Neil Young fan in the world, I love the that they talk about him like he's a god. The Mirror Ball album he recorded with them as his backing band is quite good. I like Eddie Vedder as a songwriter, but I'm just not crazy about his singing style.

QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 7, 2012 -> 05:23 PM) Looking at your hometown, perhaps it comes from being a Dick? Sorry, but I have to ask, what is the High School mascot? Town is only about 1000 people and doesn't have a high school, we do however have a small Catholic school who's nickname is the Trojans.

At my place of employment, about once a month somebody decides it is a good idea to spread feces on the wall and on the inside of the stall. It literally looks like they are trying to paint the walls with feces. Now mind you, I work for a company where every person working there is atleast 25+ and making a rather decent wage. I can never understand what would make a full grown adult do that kind of thing.

QUOTE (The Gooch @ Feb 7, 2012 -> 11:07 AM) Just picked up the new Van Halen album. Its pretty awesome. Never been a big fan. What I've heard off the new album was pretty generic and not real impressive IMO.
