  1. Of all the people on the team deserving to get ripped, you decide to rip Conor Gillaspie. One of the few guys on this team thats actually doing a good job. Sure he might be playing over his skill level, but it's not like it's been a week or two. We are two full months into the season and he hasn't regressed all that much. This is a completely pointless thread and makes me wonder who the real meathead is.
  2. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 28, 2013 -> 03:13 PM) Yes. Impossible. Too many position holes not too mention Peavy being a year older. Yes. Old Man Peavy will be all of 32 at the start of next season. Clearly he should just hang up his spikes.
  3. With De Aza's K-rate, he cannot bat in the 2 hole.
  4. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 26, 2013 -> 10:55 AM) Is Robin going with a platoon at catcher now or is Flowers banged up? Three straight starts for Gimenez, all against right-handed starters. Flowers has been having back spasms.
  5. Man I f***ing hate Fox. Getting the Cardinals/Dodgers game here in SW WI.
  6. QUOTE (TRU @ May 22, 2013 -> 08:01 PM) I don't think that's how it works.. That means that if I buy a new game, install it on my system, then take to my friends house where he would need to install it and "buy" it to be able to play then I no longer own the game and would have to "rebuy" it when I go back home.. This is my understanding. I buy the game, I own that game and I go home and install it onto my system. I no longer need the disc so I go trade it back into Gamestop for store credit. Gamestop then is able to resell that game to some dumbass who then goes home, inserts the disc, and has to pay a "fee" or whatever it is they are going to do. You would just have to log in to your gamer profile while at his house.
  7. QUOTE (TRU @ May 22, 2013 -> 04:59 PM) I see no problem with the used game fees they are talking about.. I buy everything new anyways.. Here is my question.. you have to install all games onto your xbox1 to play them, then you dont need the disc anymore from my understanding.. so does this mean I can buy a new game, go home and install it, and then trade it in immediately for max store credit? If so, I love this idea.. My thoughts on this are that they are probably going to have an activation code on the game. This code will be locked to your gamer id. If you are to trade the game in, you would have to release the game from your id and it would not play on your system anymore. On gamestop's end, they would just not accept any game that did not have a unlocked activation code. This would work out for everybody. Gamestop would stay in business, consumers would still be able to buy used games without paying extra. Whether this is how they are doing it, I have no idea, but if I worked for Microsoft this would be my suggestion.
  8. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ May 21, 2013 -> 03:46 PM) I wanted a game console, not a voice and gesture based tv remote box. I guess I must have missed the announcement where it wasn't going to play games.
  9. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 21, 2013 -> 02:43 PM) As compared to the Ps4, I mean. All the specs I've seen show the PS4 and X-Box One to be nearly identical so I'm not sure how the X-Box is underwhelming. Were you expecting it to be vastly superior to the PS4?
  10. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 21, 2013 -> 02:24 PM) At a glance this thing seems super underwhelming, but I guess it's too early to draw a conclusion. What were you expecting? Virtual reality?
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ May 21, 2013 -> 01:51 PM) All the gamers I know hate it. This will not play old games and there will be no more used games. Each game will be assigned to a single XBL account. Still have to pay for XBL. I'm just going to get a Roku and be happy to live in the stone age...maybe I'll grab a PS4. Paying monthly for XBL will always kill it for me. You will still be able buy used games, you will just have to pay an additional fee to be able to install the game. This is no different than computer software. I don't understand why people are so against this. PS4 will also not have backwards compatibility. It just cost them to too much to do it for the little value it provides. Just keep the old 360 or PS3 hooked up, it's not that big of a deal. I've never had a problem paying $3/month for X-Box live. That's $.10/day. If you dropped a dime on the ground you probably wouldn't even pick it up. I've never understood the hatred towards Microsoft for having their superior service cost a small fee.
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 21, 2013 -> 01:35 PM) That might be the worst, least creative name of all time. I don't mind it too much. It fits what they're trying to accomplish with the new system.
  13. http://www.engadget.com/2013/05/21/microso...mpaign=Engadget Microsoft officially announces the new X-Box called the "X-Box One". November/December release.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 20, 2013 -> 12:58 PM) Why would there be big changes? People seem to forget... not only is Reinsdorff not the only owner of this team, he isn't even the largest one, financially. Or at least he wasn't a few years ago, the last time I saw. His face is out there as the public representative of the ownership group. The face may change, but it seems unlikely that the direction of the franchise changes dramatically. Also, even if JR backs away, he may still retain his stake in the team. So the ownership group may not even change in any significant way, other than JR becoming more of a silent partner. Without having a source to back me up, isn't Reinsdorf's stake in the Sox only like 20% or less.
  15. Yea the only thing funnier than that "rumor" are the comments from people underneath it who are against the trade because they don't want to give up Konerko.
  16. I am of the understanding that pretty much anybody can write articles and get them posted through the Contributer Network. Is this so? If it is, why are we even discussing this? My article about the Sox trying to aquire Mike Trout for DeWayne Wise will be up shortly.
  17. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 16, 2013 -> 05:23 PM) Buy me one! I'm not THAT curious about it. But I guess my overall point is that I bet most people couldn't tell what .08 feels like, anyway. Which is why the mandatory one in the car would be awesome, even if tough to pull off. The WI DOT has a phone app that estimates your BAC. You enter your weight, how long you've been drinking and how many drinks you've had. While not 100% it is pretty close. Now if your drinking like 6.5% beer or something, just enter 3 drinks for every 2 you really drank to accomidate for the higher alcohol level.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 16, 2013 -> 01:11 PM) Four beers over a two hour time period is probably still getting close in some states isn't it? Are you willing to take the risk on some broken breathalizer? For an average adult male, one drink (one beer, one glass of wine, or one shot of 80 proof liquor) raises your BAC by about .02. Your body can metabolize at a rate of about .015 per hour. So 4 drinks in 2 hours would put you around .05. You should be good. The more you weigh, the less your BAC goes up with every drink. I weigh around 240 and if I drink at a rate of 1 drink per hour, my BAC will not keep escalating.
  19. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 16, 2013 -> 01:00 PM) I sure hope you aren't saying that if I was out with you, you were drunk and I was sober, you wouldn't let me drive your car, and instead you'd drive drunk. I never take my car when I'm drinking because I don't trust my decision making when I get drunk, but if for some reason I did have my car and I was drunk and somebody else was sober, yes I would let them drive.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 16, 2013 -> 12:20 PM) I think it would be workable if instead of allowing these bs "treatment" companies to charge $850 to do nothing, we make the offenders get the devices installed. Many states are going that route, at least at certain BAC levels. Currently in WI, a BAC of .17 or higher requires the device.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 16, 2013 -> 12:16 PM) Exactly - for the purposes of a DUI a bicycle counts as a vehicle, too. I believe, but am not 100% certain, that at least in some places a horse counts also.
  22. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 16, 2013 -> 12:15 PM) I'm sure there might be small ways to improve it, but yeah, I think the current set up is about as good as we're going to get. I like Shack's idea of having devices in cars, but that's probably not workable right now. Penalties are harsh enough as-is. Making them harsher won't change the behavior. And Government Cab Company isn't feasible for the majority of the country. I agree with this. Sure you could make the penalties harsher, but I don't really think it will change behavior all that much and does anybody really want to waste tax money by jailing guys who had 3 beers after work and got stopped at a checkpoint and arrested?
