Yeah, announce it while the jurors are still in the building. Much easier to track them down that way.

A trial would be nothing more than a politically-motivated show. Unless there is some very strong evidence out there that hasn't been made public, there is no chance of a conviction.

OK, I went from 83 to 64 and still no 21-13, though there was one 21-12. -

That's very surprising since 21 and 13 are both very common game scores. It's not like the Bears won 11-5 or something like that. -
CNN broke the news on air shortly after 1:30 pm ET and had a story up on their website shortly after that. Almost 90 minutes later, there is absolutely no mention of it on foxnews.com.

I'm not high on Micah, so if the Sox can get anything useful for him then I'm all for it.

Was anybody seriously thinking about playing Hanely at SS though? -
In the end, I don't think an Alexei trade ends up happening. The Sox don't NEED to trade him because he isn't expensive dollars-wise and even though the position has depth within the system, there isn't a prime candidate to play the position this season and succeed where the Sox are clearly geared towards competing in 2015. There is still ample opportunity to trade him next offseason, when Anderson MIGHT be ready to take over. So, from the Sox standpoint, they would need to be overwhelmed in order to deal Alexei. From the suitors' standpoint, the trend in recent years has been an increased willingness to spend dollars to acquire talent and a decreased willingness to give up players/prospects in order to acquire talent. Even in Alexei's case, where there is not comparable free agent available that can be bought with dollars, I don't see a team being willing to take a "loss" in a trade to the extent that would be required to get Alexei. The Dodgers might be the lone exception because they have a logjam in the outfield, but even with them it would take one of their outfielders + a substantial amount of cash + a very good and very near major league ready prospect, and on paper that would be such an unfair trade that it might be hard to swallow.

I long ago gave up shopping at Wal-Mart, except for furnace filters because I have an unusual size that nobody else carries. I do shop at Sam's, but only because the nearest Costco is 30 miles away and even then I really try to limit what I buy there.

Yoenis Cespedes traded to Detroit for Rick Porcello

If Bogaerts and Cespedes are the throw-ins to go along with Pedroia and Owens, then sure, that's plenty reasonable. -

I know this is going to sound bizarre coming from me, but I take real issue with FSU not being #1 in the playoff rankings. Yes, they needed quite a bit of luck (and extra help from the refs) to win all their games, but their official record is 11-0 and they play in a major conference. Yes, I know that their conference is weak, but their schedule strength is still #49 according to Sagarin and I think your schedule strength needs to be much closer to Marshall territory (#136) before you can start putting teams with losses ahead of them. Do I think two, and possibly more teams are actually better than FSU? Yes, but if being undefeated doesn't count for something, then it's a dumb system. I just think we are setting a dangerous precedent where some really good undefeated team down the line could get left out of the playoffs entirely. -
So why do I want out of this nice stable, good paying job? A snapshot: Employee has been caught several times taking extra smoke breaks and also noted many times sitting idle at her desk instead of working. At the end of the year, employee gets a rating of 3 on a 1-5 scale, which is the lowest level that is passing. Employee files grievance claiming that her work is outstanding, that she deserves nothing less than a 5, and that the 3 rating is retaliation for her complaints against supervisor for writing her up for the smoke breaks. Same employee puts in for vacation day for November 17. Supervisor notices that this is the employee's last vacation day, reminds employee that the day after Thanksgiving is a work day, and that the agency is not granting unpaid days off for that day. Employee states that it isn't a big deal since she is planning to work that day. Today, employee puts in for unpaid day off for Friday. Employee is denied the request and immediately files a grievance against the supervisor and manager (myself) for not approving a necessary unpaid absence. Given our legal department's history, her rating will be negotiated to a 4, and she will have her Friday absence approved. I'd rather make 10-15% less to be in a job where I can actually accomplish something.

Viktor Tikhonov, 84, responsible for possibly the worst coaching decision in the history of team sports.

Part of my Mom's family is from Michigan and are Lions fans. I will be with them this Thanksgiving, so there's no chance the Bears win. That's just how this year has been for me. -
If the Sox DFA Wilkins, does anybody even claim him?

I will say that while the team has Top 5 talent, they are very inexperienced and it has shown from time to time. Still, there have been an awful lot of horrible coaching decisions on both offense and defense the past 3 games. Very sad to see since the FSU game was one of the best-coached games I've ever seen from Kelly's era. -
Even if your home park is a pitchers park, it's not unusual to hit better at home because it's where you are more comfortable, but 90 points is pretty extreme.

Any word yet on who is getting booted from the 40 to make room for LaRoche?

No ref problems at ND Saturday. Just a coach who can't get his head out of his ass. Funny that he thinks that consistently failing to score touchdowns from within the 10 is a player execution problem and not a playcalling problem, though. Oh, and go recruit a good kicker. -
I'm not talking about getting a response just from the application. I'm talking about when you've actually made it to being interviewed. At that point there generally aren't more than 5-10 candidates for the job. You can take the time to call or send an e-mail to 10 people.

Yeah, I find myself having a lesser opinion of companies that just refuse to tell me anything.

The NFL has it in for Detroit. The Lions suck for all these years, and just when they get good, the league sends other s***ty teams to go play there. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11911190...-monday-detroit -
If you are a hiring manager, how do you notify interviewees that they didn't get the job: A. Call from yourself to inform them B. Email from yourself to inform them C. Call/email from HR person to inform them D. No contact at all Now, I'm not talking about the larger pool of people who applied, just the smaller pool of people who actually made it to an interview with the hiring manager. As a hiring manager, I always do (A), but as an interviewee, I can't remember the last time I received anything other than © or (D), with (D) being far more frequent.

I agree that trading Q is troublesome, I was just trying to find something that made some bit of sense based on bucket's preliminary info. If the Sox trade Q for a package involving Bruce or any other bat, I think it signals that the Sox believe that all the free agents we've been discussing (Cabrera, Rasmus, Sandoval, Laroche) are all way overpriced to the point that they are forced into this in order to improve the lineup. I still hope it doesn't happen, though getting both Bruce and Hamels would soften the blow a bit.
