All New Soccer Thread ~ All Levels ~ All Leagues
The only way Qatar will lose the 2022 World Cup is if several big sponsors pull their money and/or several soccer powers decide to boycott, and I don't give either a very large chance of happening.

Abreu finishes 4th in MVP voting
Haugh is definitely a Sox fan. My dad knew him from when he was covering HS sports for the SB Tribune.

2014 Award Nominees
Kluber 169, Felix 159, Sale 78, Lester 46, Scherzer 32

Alex Rios
Rios hasn't been mentioned as a guy expected to get a big payday. Hit .325/.353/.545 vs RHP in 2014. Plays a good defensive corner OF. Yeah, I know he has a history here and all that, but he could be a fairly productive guy that doesn't cost a lot.

Elvis Andrus
The Sox can get Andrus-like production from Sanchez or Semien, so I see no reason why Andrus should be considered as an option.

Dodgers OFs
Fine, Crawford + $17.25M for Danks.

Max Scherzer
With all these threads about signing Scherzer and trading Danks, how about a thread about me sleeping with Kate Upton? Has the same chance of happening.

Offseason Catch All
Yes, Viciedo is arbitration-eligible and they have to decide by early December whether or not to tender him a contract. I think I'm the only one who thinks the Sox should non-tender him if they can't trade him before then.

Chicago White Sox and WGN-A TV Broadcasts
Originally, there was just one WGN. Once WGN picked up a network affiliation (that was the WB and is now the CW), they had to send out a second signal with alternate programming to viewers outside the Chicago area since network programming would be blacked out in any location that had a local CW station. Eventually, the two stations diverged to the point that the only common programming was Bulls/Sox/Cubs games and the evening news. WGN America (which is what everybody outside the Chicago metro area gets) has decided to stop showing Cubs/Sox games, so they will now only air on the local version of WGN.

Proposal: John Danks for Howie Kendrick
Sounds like a really good deal for the Sox, which leads me to believe that it's not a deal the Angels would make.

The Republican Thread
Yeah, he put me out of work for 3 weeks a year ago so this doesn't top that.

Wait, I thought the only black people in Minnesota were Prince and Kirby Puckett??

MSU doesn't deserve to be ranked ahead of ND, but they are, so I guess I need them to lose. I don't think a team that lost to Virginia Tech is any threat to leapfrog ND if they beat MSU.

Now, I took the GRE 19 years ago, so it may very well have changed since then. The GRE verbal was about 10% harder than the SAT verbal. The GRE math was no higher than a precalculus level.

That is about 149.75-299.75 more hours than you need to prep for the general GRE.

Sox acquire Jeff Samardzija and Michael Ynoa
If the Sox are going to lose a draft pick this year from signing a free agent, this could be a good way to get it back the following year when Valpo boy becomes a FA. If the price isn't too high, I'm definitely interested, though there's no way Oakland takes Danks back in the deal.

Are you taking the general GRE or a subject specific test?

Proving that Winston actually tanked is going to be pretty much impossible. A very close friend of his did indeed make an unusually large bet against his freind's team, though.

Election 2014
My retort to that is that a vote cast for a third party is a much better way to display dissatisfaction with both parties than not voting. You can put actual numbers to that group.

That was a very uncharacteristically poor first half by Jameis last week, wasn't it? http://ibnsportswrap.com/article.php?articleID=1716

Election 2014
Bayh has no chance at making it through a Democratic primary. Not even close to liberal enough. That's what I hate about both parties--excellent moderate candidates are drawing dead before they even start because the parties are controlled by the extremes. I would love to see somebody like Bayh, Bob Casey or Joe Donnelly on a national ticket for the Democrats but that is never happening.
