  1. I agree that is likely the case, but I will wait for the forensics to confirm before declaring that I believe charges should be filed.
  2. Yes, ND is taking a step that most schools wouldn't take. But this kind of s*** shouldn't even be happening in the first place. I don't want ND to become just another football factory.
  3. The middle part is still awaiting forensic verification. If I were forced to take a side right now, I would say that I believe the kid really was shot in the back, but if forensics come back that he wasn't, then pretty much all of the eyewitness accounts are worthless.
  4. Regardless of whether or not trades are made: Johnson Semien Danks Rienzo Surkamp Phegley If Dunn is traded, then Wilkins If Beckham is traded, then Sanchez

  6. Confirmed that the 4 players in question were not at practice today. Supposedly there is a press conference at 3pm though the athletic department still says there is no press conference scheduled.
  7. Has it really gotten to the point that a clean football program has no more chance of winning a National Championship than a clean cyclist winning the Tour de France from 1992-09?
  8. Then he should go to the SEC. I don't want a dickface coaching ND. I'm not saying I want Charlie Weis back and go 7-5 every year, but there has to be somebody out there who can win without being shady.
  9. Would this be a bad time to point out that I was never in favor of hiring Brian Kelly?
  10. OK, I'm reading more about this. Supposedly this is something that happened in 2012 but was just discovered recently. ND would be declaring these players retroactively ineligible for the 2012 season and vacating wins, even though the offenses don't necessarily meet the standard the NCAA would use to declare the students ineligible and forcibly vacate wins. Sounds like the university is incredibly pissed and trying to send a very strong message.
  11. If they are being dismissed from the University (with the potential to be readmitted after a semester), then that means they have committed a second offense. I would have thought that after Golson, Daniels, and hoops player Grant all got semesters off that would have snapped everybody else into line. Still, the timing of this is odd. Unless these guys were enrolled in summer classes and their second offense occurred in one of those classes, the dismissal would not be coming right now. Daniels has already been kicked out once, so if he is indeed up to his third offense then he's gone for good. Probably can start next week at FSU though.
  12. At least Samuel Jackson and Laurence Fishburne do.
  13. I haven't talked to anybody up there in a while and haven't heard anything new. Are you hearing specific names?
  14. I'm not going to try and say that it's anything like race-based mistreatment, but where I live there are numerous stories of people getting horribly mistreated by cops, and most of the victims are white. I have a friend who got the s*** beat out of him to the point of having to to to the ER by two off-duty cops for no other reason than he was stumbling drunk in a bar and spilled one of their beers. They got off scot-free. I've heard many other second-hand stories of local police crossing far over the line. If I didn't have a cousin who is a Sgt. with the state police and a former roommate who is a federal prosecutor, I'd be short selling my house and getting the f*** out of here. Cops here can't be trusted and it has very little, if anything, to do with race.
  15. I still think Dunn and Lindstrom end up somewhere else by August 31.
  16. Witnesses claim Brown was shot in the back. Forensics will be able to determine that very easily. There's pretty much never justification for a cop shooting an unarmed person in the back.
  17. Our local NBC station used to pre-empt network programming for SEC football and basketball games, with football games often running beyond ND kickoff time and basketball games often bumping L&O: SVU, so the wife and I are both very happy for the SEC to have their own network so we can have our NBC programming back.
  18. They kept running kickoffs back from 6+ yards deep in the end zone. I'm hoping that this was just for practice and that they'll just take touchbacks on those during the regular season.
  19. No matter how much fun your job is, you need to find meaning in your life outside of your job. I know that has to be really hard when your job is simply to be funny, but find something else: following a sports team, taking up a hobby like golf or poker, take vacations with your family. Be an active part of a church. Find something aside from your job that gives you a reason to get up in the morning.
  20. It's not going to happen, but if the Sox moved somewhere (other than Indy or Nashville, which would actually put them closer to me), they might go from being my favorite team to just being my favorite AL team. Reds would probably become my favorite team.
  21. Until September 1, there needs to be some way to make a roster spot for him. DeAza and Viciedo can't be sent down. Leury can but he's pretty much the only backup IF.
  22. Avi has options left, so he can just be optioned to AAA without ever rejoining the Sox, though he would still have to be placed back on the 40 at that point.
  23. No, but Garcia can DH which frees up Dunn to move to the bullpen.
  24. I was only in St. Louis the past four days, but from all the information on the news and discussions with locals, I would peg Ferguson to be much more like Bellwood in Proviso Twp than like Austin or Englewood.
