  1. I don't live near any family. Nobody that I know is unexpectedly coming over and breaking in. Yes, I will tell the intruder that (s)he needs to slowly back out of the house or (s)he is getting shot.
  2. OK, in 8 years, when my kids are teenagers, I will revise my policy.
  3. Members of my family don't break into my house.
  4. I can't speak for a cop or what their rules should be, but I can tell you what my rules are: somebody breaks into my house, they are getting a gun pointed at them. If their next move isn't towards the exit, they are getting shot. I'm not waiting to assess whether or not they may be hiding a weapon or what chance I have of taking them in a fistfight.
  5. If Mark really thought he would play out that entire contract in Miami, then he's the only one.
  6. No, he's bad on paper also. At best he is a 4th OF or maybe a platoon LF, but his arb salary is going to be way more than what you should be paying somebody like that. Now, if he's non-tendered and no other team offers him more than $1.75M or so, then maybe it would be OK to have him back. Under no circumstances should he ever start vs LHP though.
  7. There is no reason to pay arb salaries to both DeAza and Viciedo when they are both producing an OPS under .700. Jordan Danks can suck at the plate for a lot less money plus he's at least a good defensive replacement and pinch runner.
  8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdL9dqkyjhM New (at least to me) video of the aftermath of the shooting. You can hear a lot of the oft-repeated claims of "shot him in the back" and "killed him for no reason" but at one point there is a guy who says:
  9. Ironic since at least one former member of the team is the exact opposite.
  10. Summary: 1. Almost entirely white police force in mostly black community builds up tension over years 2. White police officer shoots and kills unarmed black teen, apparently with no cause 3. Majority of community attempts to organize peaceful demonstrations and calls for justice 4. Small minority loots and riots, forcing the police to crack down on everybody, including the peaceful majority 5. Peaceful majority gets further disenfranchised So yeah, the majority of peaceful and law-abiding people in Ferguson are getting s*** on from both sides.
  11. Ah OK. One other thing I will say is don't expect a better deal on the Toyota just because you service your cars there. The salesmen don't make money on the service department. Unless they are listing it for more than KBB value, you probably aren't getting the price down any.
  12. I would say that the Sox winning or losing has a lot more to do with whether they have Sale/Quintana or someone else pitching, but then they did just take 2 of 3 from Toronto with 3 someone elses pitching.
  13. Well, Indiana did almost have the Bears. Maybe we could take a run at the Sox.
  14. This sounds like it might be too late, but you will get better value if you don't sink that $1,500 into the repairs. What the dealer can get for the car after they fix it is not $1,500 more than they can get for it as is. Other than that, look up the KBB value of the used Toyota you want and make sure their list price isn't higher than that. As long as that is the case, go ahead and take their 2.6% rate. The last 4 vehicles I've bought are Toyotas and I'm never ever buying anything else.
  15. There are posters who hate Dunn so much they will claim he's blocking Jared Mitchell if necessary.
  16. If you're Baltimore or Oakland, you really just about have a playoff spot wrapped up. You wait until the end of August to acquire a guy like Dunn so you can still have him for the postseason but don't have to pay him as much as if you get him earlier.
  17. If you're going to split the 13 hour trip into two days anyway, then either on the way out or the way back take the long way through S Dakota/Montana/Wyoming. There is much more to see on the way. Black Hills, Mount Rushmore, Little Bighorn, Rocky Mountain National Park. Unless of course, you've seen all that stuff already. Driving the length of Nebraska twice in a week can really challenge your sanity. Oh, and I love Denver. If I had to live more than 300 miles away from Chicago, I'd choose Denver. I highly recommend Wynkoop Brewing Co. for food/drink. US Mint in Denver is pretty cool, Coors brewery out in Golden, and of course tons of mountain scenery.
  18. So I either have to take the side of someone who ran a Public Integrity Unit while driving drunk, or Rick Perry? Tough call.
  19. So it's nice to be home from my peaceful, relaxing vacation in suburban St. Louis earlier this week so I can come home to this: http://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/...y-via/14114953/
  20. That is why I said that I find it not to be believable, yet a couple people that I really trust for their info are telling me this.
  21. The university has plenty of integrity. Their football coach and many of they players he has brought in have none. ND has this as the #1 story on their website. It's swept under the rug at most schools.
  22. Official statement: http://news.nd.edu/news/49851-notre-dame-r...-investigation/
  23. If PK can get $2.5M to put up a .646 OPS then Dunn can be paid $5M to put up a .788 OPS.
  24. OK, this doesn't sound terribly believable to me, but I'm hearing from several people that this involves a female tutor writing papers for many students, only a few of whom are football players, in exchange for sex.
