Not sure whether or not Texas is thinking about picking up Rios' option, but that dude is absolutely destroying lefties. If you had Rios in LF and Gillaspie at 3B and used Semien to start at 3B vs all LHP and occasionally in LF vs RHP, that could be one hell of a dual platoon there.

As much as we all hate to see Flowers occupy a spot in the lineup, don't forget that the MLB average OPS for catchers is .694, and Flowers' OPS is .678, so he's not far away from average. Yes, I would love to see a better-hitting catcher, but they are hard to find and the teams that have them know that and won't give them up cheaply. If the Sox can find a couple good bats for LF and DH, and Garcia becomes what we think he can become in RF, Flowers at C isn't going to make or break the team.

If the Sox can find a backup catcher who hits righties, that would help. Biggest problem this year, aside from Flowers and Nieto not being good hitters in general, is that both hit lefties better than righties, so you can't gain any kind of platoon advantage.

One more point: anybody that has cleared waivers can still be traded. It just doesn't happen often because anybody traded after 8/31 is not eligible for the postseason.

Fun legal question: 1) 14 year old male has sex with 21 year old female. This is statutory rape on the part of the female, but at the time it occurred the crime goes unreported. 2) Female becomes pregnant as a result of sexual encounter. 3) Female waits until one day after the statute of limitations expires on the rape to notify the male that he is the father and to file for both back and ongoing child support. 4) Court rules that because the crime was not reported within the statute of limitations, male is indeed responsible for child support. Does this dude have any recourse in civil court, along the lines of arguing that he has incurred financial damage as a result of crime and suing for damages, or is there a statute of limitations on civil actions as well?

No, those guys are still with FOX, and espn.com and everywhere else lists Buffalo @ Chicago as a FOX game. I know that the Thanksgiving game with Chicago @ Detroit was given to CBS even though that would normally be a FOX game, so maybe this week's game was the tradeoff.

Did they change all the TV rules? With the road team being an AFC team this would always have been a CBS game.
