:OFFICIAL: 2014 Sox Pre-Sale ticket info and offers! 2/26 and 2/27
cabiness42 replied to ewokpelts's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Very interested in those codes if you can find them. -
This is the game for our extended family outing this year. It's already a holiday weekend against the Yankees, and now it's a Sale bobblehead game as well. I guess I'm going to need ewokpelts to come through with a pre-sale code for individual game tickets if I can expect to snag 16 together in the lower deck for this one.

If I am flying an airline where I have an assigned seat, I always wait until the last group to board, regardless of which group I'm actually in. Way more comfortable to sit in the terminal for 15 minutes than on the plane. I usually don't carry on anything more than one small bag I can put under my seat, so I'm not worried about the bins being full.

Is Kansas a Laughingstock or Do You Not Care?

Hobby Lobby is a private, for-profit company. I don't support their right to refuse to serve certain customers or refuse to provide health care plans that cover contraception for religious reasons. On the other hand, if you are an actual religiously-affiliated non-profit organization, such as a church/university/charity, I 100% support your right to do either of those things. -
There's enough other stuff that goes on in Louisville that I don't think they'll find that interesting enough to trek over here for that angle.

He wasn't smart enough to not wear a mask in the bank, but he is at least smart enough to not come home so far. An unmarked sedan that I assume belongs to a detective has passed by a dozen times in the past few hours.

My office window faces a busy street about ½ block from a semi-busy intersection. Hearing sirens go by is very common, but today at about 3pm I heard a whole bunch of sirens and they seemed to be stopping nearby. I looked out my window and saw a s***load of ambulances and police cars. I figured it must have been a pretty bad wreck. About an hour later, I notice on a local news website that the wreck involved a police car responding to an armed bank robbery about 2 miles away and a car that failed to yield for it. About a half hour after that, my wife called me and in a very urgent voice told me I had to check out the just-released surveillance photos from the bank robbery. I'm at least 90% certain that it's our next door neighbor.

I don't see Paulino as a guy who is going to go out and have a career year this year. I see him as a guy with big upside that has been hampered by injuries who might become a useful mid-rotation starter for very cheap in a couple years if things pan out. This is the kind of year when you stick him in the rotation to see what he's got, and you keep Rienzo at AAA to bring up if he doesn't work out.

2014-2015 NFL Football thread

Bonus points for not saying 'intensive'. -
First of all, they have to start with the plan that gives them the best chance to make the postseason, and that involves having Sale, Quintana, Danks and Johnson pitching every 5th day not every 6th. Starting the year with a 6-man rotation is essentially conceding from Opening Day that you are not contending this year, and that is not an approach the Sox are willing to take. Secondly, a six man rotation for a full season is difficult to pull off with a 25 man roster, especially when you are using one roster spot for a backup DH. If the Sox are out of contention by mid-August, then it's something you look at doing.

I've always thought of him first as a writer/director. Ghostbusters was a funny movie, but you don't make that (Insert Celeb Here) is Dead thread based just on that role.
-
A rookie is doing well to average 6 innings a start, so even if he makes 32 starts that's 192 innings, which is only 13% above what he did last year. I expect Sale, Quintana, and Danks to be over 200 innings, but that's pretty rare for a rookie.
-
Johnson threw nearly 170 innings in 29 starts in 2013. Not likely that he throws many more innings than that this year.

Harold Ramis, writer/director/actor, 69. Going to have to watch Caddyshack tonight in his honor.

Idea stolen from the favorite ex-Sox player thread. Who is your favorite currently active player who has never played for the Sox or been in their minor league system? For several years, mine was Adam Dunn, because I am also a big lefty and the Reds are my favorite NL team. Of course Dunn is no longer in this category so now it's Joey Votto, for the same reasons.

I've been to three Indy 500s but never a NASCAR race. There are two a year within 120 miles of me so I really ought to make it to one.

Anybody else follow any forms of auto racing? I grew up following IndyCar and got into NASCAR about 15 years ago. Ryan Newman is from South Bend and my stepmother has co-workers who taught him in school. Jeff Gordon is from the Indy area very near where my wife is from, and Tony Stewart is from Southern Indiana not too far from where I live now. Anyway I stayed up to watch the end of the Daytona 500 after the 6 hour+ weather delay and Dale Earnhardt Jr. won for the second time. I'm not all fanatic about him like a lot of NASCAR fans, but it was good to see him win.

1) Orioles sign Santana and give up the draft pick 2) Orioles trade Santana to Sox for Dunn Everybody wins!!!

Oh, since most of you live in/near Chicago, you may never have had the experience of having to make a connection at O'Hare. I avoid it at all costs. You can have a plane arrive at one terminal and have your connecting flight leave 15 minutes later from another.
