I always thought they should just rank the teams 1-32 (with the host always being 1) and then snake the groups, so 9 goes in a group with 8, 10 with 7, and so on until you get all 32 teams in groups. Only swap teams as necessary to keep the confederation rules in place.

There has definitely been a pattern to the way it has been done the last several times, but there is no rule that says they have to follow the same method.

I was thinking the same thing. The defense knows 100% you are going to run, and your O-line is not the best at run blocking. There is a good chance the FG becomes longer on 3rd down. What I still don't understand is why the refs picked up the late hit flag on Jared Allen on the opening OT drive. The hit was clearly after the whistle.

There is zero chance that anybody jumps FSU or OSU. The SEC coaches will pull their usual BS and vote OSU down around 5th-7th like they did to ND last year, but it won't be enough. There is also zero chance that Alabama ends up ahead of the SEC champion, so Alabama needs both FSU and OSU to lose, and I don't see any way FSU loses.

I totally called the result of that FG attempt. Unfortunately only my 4 y.o. daughter was in the room when I said it, so I have no verification. That was the dumbest coaching decision ever. An Auburn TD is a far more likely outcome on that play than an Alabama FG.
