  1. I think that article was a fancy way of saying that a lot of people have retired.
  2. I want to be friends with both of you.
  3. I'm fine with Senate confirmation, but I don't think the minority should be allowed to prevent an up or down vote because of cloture.
  4. That's right about what I would have guessed for the Sox. Only real surprises to me were to see St Louis that low and Baltimore that high.
  5. I can't wait for Viciedto to become a DH--for some other team.
  6. I'm not concerned about the graduated income tax. I'm fine with it. I was just thinking of a way to get revenue that the rich would find less objectionable.
  7. Rich people aren't going to stop buying cars, boats, jewelry, and vacations because they cost a few bucks more.
  8. I think Manziel is a train wreck because of his attitude, not because of his abilities. He has Ryan Leaf II written all over him. There has never been any question I've seen about RGIII's attitude.
  9. Or, you could just tax all the s*** that rich people spend money on. Determine an "average" family car (in my mind it's a Camry) and slap a Federal excise tax on every dollar above the price of that car. So if a new Camry costs $25K and you buy a luxury car for $65K, you pay tax on $40K. Tax property above a certain value, jewelry, hotels. You can create excise taxes that are paid almost entirely by the rich, a little bit by the middle class, and none by the poor. The rich people have less reason to b****, since they are choosing to make these purchases so you aren't just "taking their money". There are also less loopholes than income tax (though I'm sure people will find some).
  10. Bears already have too many wins to get that pick.
  11. I'm in the very middle of middle class and my effective tax rate is about 5%. How much more money do you intend to give me?
  12. I'd like to see jerseys celebrating the 9th anniversary of the 2005 team.
  13. All he needs now is a Dunkin Donuts endorsement deal.
  14. That's a tricky game though. Sometimes you hide the pickle and nobody bothers to come looking for it. Or worse, people you really don't want finding your pickle come looking for it. Sometimes you have to get that pickle out in the open and let the right people know about it.
  15. 536 wealthy people created my job. Of course they went and eliminated it for 17 days, but then they restored it.
  16. Same kind of thing goes on in poker all the time.
  17. There are five teams I really can't stand, and two of them are in this WS. I will not be watching.
  18. Ironically, I was about a mile from his high school when this happened.
  19. Hypothetically, if I were an AD and my football coach ever ran a play from the pistol formation on 4th and goal from the 6-inch line, I'd fire his f***ing ass on the spot. I wouldn't even let him finish the game. There's no excuse for that kind of stupidity.
  20. The only problem is that you only get four bench players. If you have one that is only a catcher and one that is only a 1B/DH, it puts a lot of pressure on the other two to cover a lot of positions.
  21. I would like to see the Sox front-load this contract heavily in the first two years. They have the money to spend right now without much else worth spending it on, and it frees up more money at the back end for the Sox to spend more when they're more likely to be competitive.
  22. So I never even got a second interview for this job, and here six weeks later, the job is posted again. Did they end up not hiring anybody at all? Did they hire somebody who left very quickly? Seems very weird.

  24. Dammit! I'm out of work for 17 days and up until at least midnight every night and now I'm back to work and going to bed earlier this breaks between 10 and midnight.
