Someone had a boat in their backyard/driveway. Police had checked the boat earlier in the day but right after the shelter-in-place had been lifted, a resident noticed the boat door was open and blood and called police. Police responded and 20+ shots were fired. Suspect is assumed wounded/dead but no confirmation yet.
ABC Boston now reporting that the suspects were not involved in the 7-11 robbery last night as was previously reported. So now the theory is that they just happened to be in the area as the MIT cop was responding to the robbery and that is what set everything off.
They did just announce that people who are at work or some other place of business are allowed to go home, but they don't want people already at home leaving to go anywhere.
A lot of the dead/injured in Texas are first responders so I have a feeling first responders from all over the country will make sure those families are taken care of.
Last year's tornado in Henryville is probably a good parallel in terms of property damage, though the death and injury toll in Henryville doesn't match up.

Storm Prediction Center has issued a PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) Tornado Watch for most of Indiana. A PDS Watch is more serious than a standard Tornado Watch, which is already pretty serious. We were under a PDS Watch down here last March when the F4 tornado hit Henryville and killed a dozen people. Not something to mess around with.
Just in case you read this before going anywhere: I don't live in Chicago, but I get Trib breaking news alerts in my inbox and this morning one of my alerts was that parts of the Edens, Eisenhower, and Kennedy are closed due to massive flooding.
August 22--Make it a day/night multi-team doubleheader at Wrigley. Regularly scheduled Cubs-Nats game at 1:05 and the makeup Cubs-Rangers game at 7:05.
Too many store security cameras in that area not to get the guy on tape at some point. Plus, if he used a credit card to buy any of the stuff in the bombs, that will make it easier.
My oldest will turn 5 in a couple weeks and he asked what they were talking about on the news and we explained that some bad people had made a couple bombs and tried to hurt a lot of people. I don't think he really got it, but I felt like I had to be honest.
