Sorry, I thought I clicked green but I didn't.

A trip to DC is very worth the time/money even if you don't get to see the Sox while there.

I don't think it's really a conspiracy theory to say that MLB used the leverage they had in the ownership transition process to get the Astros to agree to the move. It seemed pretty obvious.

What is commonly accepted by sectarian historical scholars is that there was a Jewish guy named Jesus who was born sometime around 3BC and made some outrageous claims that led to him being crucified sometime around 30AD. That he performed miracles while alive and that he was resurrected after his death are of course, not commonly accepted.

Yeah, because scholarship athletes are required to pay their own medical bills.

So I think it makes sense to upset as few divisions/rivalries as possible. Moving a team from the 6-team NL Central to the 4-team AL West is the least disruptive move, and the Astros are the team from the NL Central that geographically fits best in the AL West. It's probably something they thought about a while ago and decided to do it while Houston was in an ownership transition.

Duke did not earn a #1 seed. They didn't win their conference season or tournament. If Gonzaga didn't get the fourth #1 it would have gone to Miami. Although, in that scenario, Duke could have gone to the DC regional instead of Indy since Miami wouldn't have been there.

Nice break missing Strasborg.

I think the biggest problem is that there isn't really any way to officially make a change. Easter is a Christian holiday, but not an official holiday in any country, so there it's not like the US, EU and others can just get together and make the change. Every Christian denomination decides on its own when to celebrate Easter, and through time as they have all branched off from Catholicism they have all kept the same calculation for Easter. What if the Catholic church decided to change to a fixed Sunday but major Protestant denominations didn't? That would make Easter even more confusing.

If NK launches a missile at the US, they are getting wiped off the map pretty quickly, regardless of how successful the attack is or isn't. China is not going to stand in the way of a US retaliation against a direct attack. The more dicey scenario is if NK attacks SK and not the US. How far does China let the US go in that case?

Best thing about this thread? Today is the end of it!

Saw you on Mike&Mike this morning! Congrats! -
I lived in East Lansing for 2 years and Battle Creek for 1 year and one of my best friends lived in GR for 5 years so I've spent a lot of time there but that was all 15+ years ago. I would echo what others have already said: West Michigan as a whole is very religious/conservative but GR has a sizable progressive/hipster population. Very reasonable cost of living. Not bad on the cultural/museum stuff if you're into that, and like others said lots of good microbrews. Just far enough inland that they don't get as much lake effect snow as Benton Harbor/LaPorte/Michigan City but still snowier than the Illinois side of the lake.

Baylor lost! Great news for ND!

Moving Houston only affected two divisions. Moving Colorado or Arizona would have affected three.

Proof that the Cubs are actually the antichrist: Christ: Put to death and on the third day rose from the dead Cubs: New season comes to life and by the third day it's pretty much dead.

This game is a win-win for me. If UM wins then I greatly increase my chances at raking in some cash, and if they lose then I get to enjoy watching them lose.

I don't remember who it was, but he had a 0.0 WAR, and terrible personnel decisions like that are why we didn't beat out Detroit last year. -

Do you work for IndyCar or NBC Sports or some other affiliated organization?

There was an episode of "How the States Got Their Shapes" about this. Looks like it might end up in the Supreme Court.

I'm willing to bet that the 2014 MLB schedule will not include home dates on September 4 for any of the following teams: Rangers Phillies Tigers Orioles Pirates Reds Mariners Cardinals Royals A's

2012-2013 NCAA Basketball thread
cabiness42 replied to He_Gawn's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I think the NCAA tournament is eventually going to expand to 96 teams, and this is my idea for how to do it: Selection: 2 automatic bids from each conference in the form of the regular season and tournament champions (if one team wins both, 2nd place in reg season gets 2nd bid). This leaves 32 at-large selections (potentially dropping to 30 if the Great West ever attains AQ status) Seeding: There will be 24 sites for the 1st-2nd rounds. Top 24 teams are #1 seeds. Next 24 are #2 seeds. Next 24 are #3 seeds. Last 24 are #4 seeds. Seeds are placed at sites in order to minimize travel, with the exceptions that two teams from the same conference cannot go to the same site, and teams other than #1 seeds are not allowed to play where they are the host. There is no pre-determined bracket matching up the winners at the 24 sites. 1st-2nd round games at the sites are played Wednesday-Saturday, Thursday-Saturday, or Friday-Sunday. Sunday night the 24 surviving teams are seeded into four 6-team regionals based on their ranking at the time of their original seeding. Top two seeds in each region get byes in the 3rd round. Again the primary objective is to minimize travel but no regional will have two teams from the same conference unless a conference has more than four teams remaining, and no team may play at a site where they are the host. Two regionals are played Wednesday-Friday-Sunday and the other two are played Thursday-Saturday-Monday. Final Four would remain the same as it is now.
