  1. File this under the category of it wasn't nearly as bad as it sounds: I got rear-ended by a semi going 55mph coming back from lunch. Only superficial damage to the rear bumper and only severely frazzled nerves for me.
  2. I like criminal jury duty. Civil jury duty sucks. No, you don't have to wear a tie.
  3. If AQ or no other foreign group claims this in the next day or so, then that makes me think it was domestic.
  4. I had a dream last night that I saw Adam Dunn and told him that I liked him better when he was taking a lot of walks and he got really mad at me. I think I need a break from the Sox for a while.
  5. In other news, the sky is blue and John Boehner is orange.
  6. FYI: ESPN's coverage of this is way better than the broadcast or cable news networks. They interviewed an employee who was 1.5 miles short of the finish line when it happened, an employee who had finished an hour prior to it happening and was in the medical tent just past the finish line getting treated for dehydration when it happened, and they also interviewed a woman who was literally 10 feet from the finish line (and thus 20-30 feet from the first bomb) when it exploded. Great first-person accounts from several angles.
  7. I'm looking at the Google Street View of the finish line and there are a pair of mailboxes on the north side of Boylston Street about 50-100 feet beyond the finish line that coincides with the spot where the various videos I've seen show smoke and people receiving attention.
  8. https://twitter.com/DerHayden Guy is saying it was suicide bombers. Have no idea how credible he is.
  9. Getting an error on that link--probably server overload.
  10. Reminds me of the time Chuck Haegar got ejected for 'intentionally' hitting a Yankee batter with his knuckleball.
  11. Trading up is almost always a bad deal and I think most teams know it. I think it's going to be hard for KC (or anybody else near the top) to find a taker.
  12. Buehrle throws lots of strikes and the Sox hitters don't like taking pitches, so this could be a 2-hour game.
  13. NIU not a candidate for MVC due to playing FBS football. I think it might be better for the MVC to just stay at 9 rather than add a team who will drag down their RPI like that. UW-Milwaukee seems like they would have been the best choice, but maybe they weren't willing to split up with UW-Green Bay. Still, I think Valpo would have been a better choice than Loyola. Valpo-Indiana St Valpo-Evansville could develop into good rivalries.
  14. For years I've said one of the added benefits to the Sox keeping Buehrle around is that soft-tossing lefties have traditionally owned Sox hitters and Mark is one of the best ever in that category. I guess tonight we find out for real.
  15. Loyola? Were the good teams in the Horizon not interested?
  16. Grienke got what he had coming to him. I call BS on his claim that it wasn't intentional. You don't miss that badly on a 3 ball count. I hope Kershaw drills Quentin in retaliation and then gets suspended for 10 games while Grienke is on the DL.
  17. Meanwhile, back on the north side . . . http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...t&p=2781673

  19. MLB Network just said the delay was because the umpires got stuck in traffic. Only thing I can figure is they are staying at a hotel in VA instead of DC and there was a wreck on the bridge.
  20. For those in the Los Angeles and San Diego markets, this game will be on MLB Network.
