  2. Instead of making Santiago a starter, maybe he should just swap roles with Thornton in the bullpen.
  3. That has to be the record for longest impact on a rotation due to a single rainout.
  4. Zach McAllister, RHP (1-2, 3.12) at Jose Quintana, LHP (1-0, 2.55) Forecast from weather.gov: Cloudy through mid-morning, then clearing with a high near 50. North wind 5-10 mph
  5. One of these days, I need to head down the street and check out Mike MacDougal.
  6. I'm glad at least one person got that reference.
  7. OK, not relevant to Chicago, but the ESPN Radio Station in Louisville has just ditched its last national show, Mike & Mike, for yet another local show. I can't f***ing take non-stop college basketball talk during April-October. You do know that the toothbrush was invented in Kentucky, right? If had been invented anywhere else it would have been called a 'teethbrush'
  8. Need to ask the guys in the UFO's how they manage. Maybe they have some kind of immunity.
  9. Segura should have been called out once he got about 3-4 steps toward first base, because he was running outside his legal baseline, which at that point was between 2nd and 3rd. On top of that, the umpires should never have granted time out, because Segura was not legally occupying first base when it was called.

  12. This may eventually need its own thread, but for now: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/sns-rt-...0,2762839.story
  13. Thanks for the warning. I'll get out the tinfoil.
  14. You could probably have an entire thread for celebrity/athlete DUIs.
  15. Nobody is a good game manager when his players have a .271 OBP.
  16. I don't wish it to happen to anybody, and I don't advocate intentionally creating situations where it is likely to happen, yet at the same time I don't advocate spending a lot of government dollars trying to prevent it.
  17. The government doesn't typically release all of their evidence to the public in any kind of case. They released some info because they needed public cooperation.
  18. Angels lead Tigers 10-0 after 8, but the local FOX station won't switch over.
  19. Gacy wasn't sent to Terre Haute, which is almost certainly where Tsarnaev is headed.
  20. The problem with that line of thinking is that every single case does not exist in a vacuum. How this case is prosecuted affects cases that will come in the future. The government needs to pursue whatever the maximum defined penalty is in this case. If they don't, that opens the door for defense attorneys to argue down sentences in a wide variety of cases in the future. You are making the point that the maximum penalty may not actually be worse than a "lesser" penalty, and you are making the point that the death penalty shouldn't exist, but those are systematic arguments and not arguments about how the government should prosecute this particular case.
  21. It's going to be one hell of a basketball conference though.
  22. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/...ake-forest-2014 Notre Dame's 2014-16 ACC games announced: 2014 Home: Louisville, North Carolina, Wake Forest 2014 Away: Florida State, Syracuse 2015 Home: Boston College, Georgia Tech 2015 Away: Clemson, Pittsburgh, Virginia 2016 Home: Duke, Miami, Virginia Tech 2016 Away: NC State, Syracuse
  23. Your incentive to surrender is that you get a trial. If you don't surrender you get killed on the spot. But you've been arguing that life in prison is more punishment then the death penalty, so without the death penalty shouldn't the bad guys have LESS incentive to surrender?
