  2. So, not much drama in the women's tennis final.
  3. They do give rings to elite players who never won a World Series. The ring has the initials HOF.
  4. Guess I need to start watching women's water polo (NSFW): http://www.digitalspy.com/odd/news/a397165...slip-video.html

  6. I would write a long paragraph about how my job confirms that statement, but I'm just not motivated enough to do it right now.
  7. Not sure under the new CBA. A lot of new rules to learn.
  8. Offer Jake 3 years at $14.33M per year and then take the draft picks if he goes elsewhere.
  9. Nobody Kenny traded has ever started a massive roid program right after being traded.
  10. If you do gamble locally, I recommend doing it at Horseshoe Hammond or Harrah's Joliet--they are both owned by the same company (Ceasar's) that owns Ceasar's Palace, the Rio, Paris, Bally's, Planet Hollywood, Harrah's, and IP in Vegas, and being a frequent player can get you even cheaper rates when you do go to Vegas. Last time my wife and I went to Vegas we got rooms at Harrah's for $30/night.
  11. I was going to vote 3rd party, but Harry Reid may have convinced me to vote for Romney.
  12. Not sure why you think Vegas seems way too expensive. Southwest flies there from Midway so airfare won't be too much. Use Priceline and you can get 4* hotels for $50-60/night and 5*/resorts for $100/night. Buffets there are pretty cheap as well.
  13. I've had that happen a few times. There are specific answers they are looking for, and if you answer one of them wrong, an automated system rejects your application and nobody at the company ever sees it.
  14. Douglas had a better qualifying score than Riesman, so Douglas would have been in anyway and Riesman is the one who wouldn't have qualified.
  15. Nobody is claiming Lee, and that's as close to a sure thing as there's ever been in the history of waivers. He's owed so much money I doubt that the Phillies can eat enough money to trade him even after he clears waivers. He's stuck there for at least another year or two.

  17. What's the record for points in a game by a team? They have to be close. Even more amazing considering these are 10 minute quarters. EDIT: They just said it, it's 138.
  18. I've been to the "real sugar" Dr. Pepper plant in Dublin, Texas. Was some good stuff. Today, however, I'm a diet-only soda consumer, but Dr. Pepper TEN is definitely my favorite. Being married and not having anything close to the body to do porn, the second question is a bit to hypothetical for me to really answer.
  19. The good thing for the Sox is that they have 3 more months to evaluate the performance and health of the pitchers before making any decisions, but as of right now, my confidence level in their 2013 performance is in this order: 1) Peavy 2) Sale 3) Liriano 4) Quintana 5) Floyd 6) Danks 7) Humber Sale and Quintana figure to get spots because they are cheap. Danks gets a spot if healthy because nobody is taking his contract plus he can block trades to 6 teams. That leaves two slots open among Peavy/Liriano/Floyd. However, if Humber has a great end to this season, he probably bumps his way into one of those spots due to cost. I think in any case Floyd is probably the odd man out, and it comes down to how much more the Sox like Peavy over Liriano and how much each of them would cost.
  20. Yes, barring injury, it's a foregone conclusion that the Sox will pick up Floyd's option, regardless of whether they keep him or trade him.
  21. I don't know, because there are too many things going on in other sports and in my life to pay attention to football coverage before mid-late August.
  22. The draw for the medal round in women's soccer is set up very nicely for the US. #3, #4, #5, and #6 teams in the world all on the other half of the bracket and the #7, #9, and #23 teams on the US side (using England's ranking for GBR).
